Nobody knows the power of three like a Fairfield witch…
Katherine Fairfield isn’t a typical woman—or a typical witch. Once upon a time, she worked as an agent for Hex Support, a secret division within the Federal Bureau of Magic. Following the tragic death of her husband, she quit to focus on raising their twins. Now the kids are in college and Kit spends her days at the enchanted family estate known as Dark Hollow, along with her two younger sisters and a sanctuary of forgotten familiars. Until duty calls. Kit has no interest in returning to her previous life, but her former boss makes her an offer she can’t refuse. A prominent supernatural socialite has been murdered in Savannah and Hex Support could really use the talents of a Fairfield witch to crack the case. Begrudgingly Kit dusts off her badge and heads to Savannah where she meets the suspects—as well as a mysterious vampire known only as Palmer who seems to know far more than he should. As Kit closes in on the killer, she’s forced to call upon magical skills she’s long ignored and face the reality of her new life. Will she retreat into the dark recesses of her sanctuary and let a killer go free or will the Green Witch rise to the challenge and remind the supernatural world who’s boss?

First off, I love a protagonist around my own age with grown children! I'm not at all against reading stories with 20 year old main characters (that is mostly what I come across) but when I was in my 20's I would not have been against reading books with characters in their 40's either, so it's nice there are more of these coming out.
Our MC definitely seems like she has an interesting back story, I had to check more than once to make sure this was the first book in a series, and having finished it I do hope it continues. There are vampires and ghosts and other magical/ paranormal things going on in this book but at it's heart it's a mystery. It definitely hits more than one of my hot buttons as far as genre goes!
The characters are well developed and interesting, the setting is interesting and it is definitely story driven but not to the point that the characters don't matter. I am fully invested in them and I would love to see where they end up next!
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an advance review copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
3.5 ⭐️ Cute! What is a 40 something empty nester widow Witch that use to work for a secret agency to do? With all her free time, the familiar sanctuary running smoothly, her two children off to college. Her old boss turning up begging her to case. Because she’s the only one he knows that has the skill set to do it? This was a cute little murder mystery. I liked that the MC was in her 40’s and entering a new stage of life. I’ll continue this series when I’m looking for something lighter to read. The audiobook was well done.
Such a cozy, delightful story! 🥺❤️ It was probably the first time I've read/listened to such a story with an older main character with grown up kids, but it was really refreshing and I will definitely try out more books like these in the future.
It's a lot like "Murder, She Wrote" but if Jessica Fletcher was a nature witch, and with a "Luficer"-touch with the incredibly charming, mysterious vampire that was determined to join Kit in the investigation out of nowhere. It was honestly super wholesome all the way!
For some reason (i don't even remember how lol) I guessed right on who the murderer was when we first met them, but it was still really fun once they were discovered, and to see why and how it all went down!
Got a good few laughs from me throughout too, and I can't wait to read/listen to the rest of the series. ❤️
A quick and quite fun listen. If you don't think too hard on the details, it's a very fun ride.
I sometimes felt like the main character, Kat, was milking the whole "I'm 44 years old!" thing a bit hard, as if 44 was the new 55 or something. But I got what the author was after so I rolled with it.
The big ego Palmer (also a vampire) was my favourite part of the entire book. I found him and comments about him funny.
As far as cosy mysteries goes, it's a light read. Recommended for anyone in need of a cosy fix
This wasn't for me. I didn't realize it was a cozy with romance and it was hard for me to get through scenes with Kit and Palmer. But this time, it's not the book, it's me. Well-written, fun characters, and interesting plot, I just wish it were more thriller than cozy and more mystery than romance.
Pink Moon is the first book in a brand-new series called the Hex Support Mystery Series by Annabel Chase & Tana Grey.
We meet Katherine Fairfield who is a Green Witch. She is now retired, but once upon a time when was an agent for a super-secret department of the Federal Bureau of Magic (FBM).
After her husband died, she quit and stayed home to raise her twin daughters. The kids are grown and she hangs out at her house, well its a huge estate called Dark Hollow. I love that there is a sanctuary for forgotten familiars.
Her old boss comes calling and asks Katherine (Kit) to do "one more job" only she can solve. She begrudgingly agrees and heads off to Savanah. There she meets Palmer the Vampire who seems to be ahead of her at every step of this investigation.
The mystery was fantastic as there was no shortage of suspects to investigate. The characters were wonderful and the world building was great!
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for more books in this series.
If you want to read more about the Federal Bureau of Magic I highly recommend checking out Annabel Chase's Federal Bureau of Magic Series, it is equally fantastic!
This paranormal cozy mystery was definitely not for me. Kat is a mother of two twins and the eldest sister of two other witches who live with her. Her husband was deceased and it is stated he was killed on the job. Why do I bring this up? Because about every other chapter, the author continues to repeat this. Kat and her family are from a long line of Fairfax witches and their home is enchanted and someone must be home to keep the energy going.
Martin, Kat's former boss at the FBM (Federal Business of Magic), specifically the department she was in, The Hex Support, begs her to come back for this one assignment. Since her kids are in college and they are expensive to send and she's an empty nester save for taking care of her sisters (she's the cook), Kat figures, "why not."
There was a death of a socialite in Savannah and she must investigate Dotty's death. She comes across several characters along with an extremely handsome but mysterious vampire named Palmer. Who hired Palmer is also part of the mystery.
The repeat of the fact that Kat is a mom and her kids are in college, her husband is dead, her sisters live with her and she feels like they need her, it's too repetitive.
She's hiding behind them and it's tiresome. Add to the fact that the murdered victim isn't very likable, which is fine, but I couldn't sink my teeth into any of the other characters to like also, other than Daisy.
What I strongly did not care for was a scene where Palmer slipped a little "cocktail" into Kat's drink in hopes to get her to spill the beans of her investigation. That's a hard no for me. I resented that, actually.
What I did enjoy about it was the narrator. The storyline, the way the mystery was solved, and the characters themselves, not so much.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this e-audio copy for my honest opinion.

This was a fun book. I enjoyed listening to it (had this as an audio book from the library) and definitely plan to continue with the series.
First off, I love that our MC, Katherine, is an older woman (well "older" than our usual 20- or 30-something leads in other magical books) who has grown children, extended family responsibilities and some experience behind her. It's nice to occasionally have a character that those of us readers "of a certain age" can more easily relate to. But Katherine is also smart and capable and savvy, so when she's asked to return to her former role as an agent of the Magical Bureau of Investigations we can see that being realistic and possible.
I liked the world-building here. There are plenty of magical beings but none of them are presented as unusual or remarkable; they're just part of the world and nobody is especially shocked when a vampire starts butting into Katherine's investigation (though Katherine is annoyed, setting up the potential for some chemistry to come)
The supporting characters here are a good fit for the rest of the story and world and I liked many of them.
The murder investigation was well-plotted and interesting with some red-herrings thrown in to make it a challenge for those who like to figure out who the killer is first (I'm not that person; content to read along until the solution is announced at the end).
This was a nice, light, easy-reading and engaging story and bonus that I could get it as an audio book for chores, walking or any commuting I have to do. I definitely will check out more books in this series.
"If we were all perfect life would be pretty boring."
Pink Moon by creative supernatural authors Annabel Chase and Tana Grey is book 1 of a trilogy and a stand alone.
This cozy paranormal mystery has empty nester witch Kit asked to come back to the FBM, The Federal Bureau of Magic to solve the beheading of the Queen of Hearts at a Mad Hatter party. She hates to leave her sanctuary for forgotten animal familiars (I need a story about the sanctuary!) but she can't resist the mystery.
There are fun quirky characters; my favorite is sarcastic charming P.I. vampire Palmer, a possible romance for Kit.
Narrator Carly Robins has perfect comedic timing and I loved the cultural references. Enjoy listening no matter the phase of the moon.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. Great new cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. This series is a companion series in the world of agent fury in the Federal Bureau of magic. This is a special division of agents who take on specific hard jobs. The there is a family of witches that run a compound for Retired!!! familiars and Disney magical mansion were at least one of the family members must always remain on the site to keep the magic going. There are three sisters and one of them is a retired FBM ex support agent. She’s called back to do one job in distress back into her previous life as an agent. Her twins are in the first year of college and her sister‘s health take care of the compound. This is an interesting new series and by the sounds of it is going to be an entertaining and fun read. Read on and enjoy the story and at the end you will find out more about the series and what’s coming up.
Pink Moon is a short, cute story following Katherine, a witch who comes out of retirement to resume her career as an investigator for the Federal Bureau of Magic. She’s a widow and empty-nester, but her special qualities make her the only one who can solve this mystery. Honestly the story didn’t do it for me. It was cute and fluffy, but I think I just couldn’t relate to our heroine. She reminded me of Angela Landsbury from Murder She Wrote. I wanted either a more fleshed out magic system and world- on page- or a little more adult humor or wit. The book overall was just fine. 2.5 ⭐️
I don’t feel I can’t rate this as highly as some other works as it was a bit fluffy and a fairly easy read (or listen in this case) but it was reminiscent of reading Agatha Christie only with magic and definitely not a bad thing. It entertained me while I did jobs in the garden without being so complex I’d get lost if I had to stop in the middle of a chapter or lost concentration for a minute. If I had to categorise it I’d say it fits solidly within “it gets the job done”.
P.S. it was also nice to read from the point of view of an older woman with older children that wasn’t just full on drama, judging and competitiveness (here’s looking at you Liane)
Delightful story! Can't wait to read more books about these sisters and the world they live in. Witches who run an animal sanctuary for abandoned familiars, one of whom is an empty-nester single mom going back to work at the FBI for magical incidents? What's not to love? The storytelling was tight and the characters were great. They mystery was not too complicated or intense, but it was fun and I didn't have the whole picture until the detective did, so that was nice.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio book
Pink Moon was a fun mix of fantasy and mystery. It felt like a cozy mystery - lower stakes, focus on the location (Savannah), friendships/family relationships featured - but set in an urban fantasy environment, more so than you see in a paranormal cozy. Considering those are my two favorite genres, this book fit perfectly in my wheelhouse. I listened to the audio and the narrator was excellent. Thoroughly delightful.
This was a fun surprise, solid 3.5. I liked that the heroine was in her 40s. You rarely see that. At times her and her sisters' story and behaviour was a little over the top, but still an enjoyable read. Looking forward to checking out the other books in the series.
3.5 great start to a series. Loved this main lead and her family. I’ll continue this series, hopefully it doesn’t take too long to come out on audio. Love that the lead is older and so family orientated.
I really had so much fun with this book. I loved the banter between Kit and Palmer. The mystery was fun too. I wanted more though! More pages and more story and more world building. I would read a whole series about Kit and Palmer and the FBM.
This was a fun cozy mystery. I loved the Fairfield family. Katherine's story was so good. The murder mystery was interesting. I loved trying to guess the killer. I hope to read more about Palmer. I am looking forward to the next book. The narration was so good. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.
Predictable. Pretty witch meets a vampire, solves a mystery, blah blah blah. I kind of feel like someone read one book about a witch and a vampire and copied it, just changed the names. And then someone else did it and someone else and so on and so on and so on. Cliché after cliché. Booooooring.
Pink Moon is an enjoyable, light read with charm and potential, but it didn’t quite stand out enough to be memorable for me. A solid choice for genre fans, just not a standout.
This was a fun and easy to read book. I have been reading some darker, heavier thrillers lately and really needed this lite read. Reminded me of Hailey Edwards' books. Good main characters, with just enough sass and magic mixed in. Can't wait to see where the series leads next.
