Let me begin by stating that initially I had no idea why I picked up this book. My first encounter with Human Design a few years ago had damaged me immensely (along with a couple of other factors coming together at that time). It put so many new bad labels on my already weak perception of myself, it just had to go to hell. And it did.

Why then read this book?

Because the voice in me that I learned to trust in my years of recovery told me: "Read it. You need to make peace with this system."

"Becoming an empowered Projector" reconciled me with the Human Design system and my design. It made some very good points that rekindled my thought process and made me see things in a different way. I got my old notes out, had a fresh look at my Human Design books - and discovered that I finally had the capacity of understanding what all of this meant for me. But I also understood its limitations.

Human Design is the framework of how this body and mind work in this life. Like astrology it's a blueprint for how the system I'm working with operates in this incarnation. If I use the tools I have at hand correctly, I can be of great service to the world and every being and thing in it. And this in the end is why we're here: to be of service. If I choose to use my tools in an improper way, my system will crash (if I try to use my computer for baking bread it won't end well...).

The thing is (and Human Design does not relate this): my design is NOT ME. "I" am / my "self" IS NOT a projector - my body is, my tools are. I am pure consciousness choosing to use this vehicle in this life to be of service to the world. My body and my mind (my tools) are being conditioned by my design, my astrology and my general circumstances (people, places, society, etc.). If I choose to identify with the lables the conditioning attaches to myself problems arise. If I identify with being a projector they will sound like:

- how can I ever live with not having all the energy I want?
- how can I ever be ready for waiting to be recognized?
- why can't I just live a happy and fullfillung life like everybody else?

You can also identify with your nationality (I am german), your job (I am a dentist), your name, your family, your eductation, social status, money etc. But in reality all this is not you. It is only temporary, it all will pass. No later than once you die all these labels are gone.

So why worry? Why not just use the tools you have been gifted and put them to proper use?

We need people like Evelyn to open our eyes, because we're essentially unwilling to surrender to WHAT IS and what cannot be changed. You can change nothing about the fact that you have been born a projector. It won't go away. So all you can do is accept the fact and look at what you CAN do. And why this "projectorness" NEEDS to be in your life. Once you learn to surrender (and Evelyn points out the importance of surrender at least twice) and use your tools properly you will stand in awe in front of the riches you have been given. They do not lie in (though they might result in) material success, status, cars, houses, an instagramable life. And this might come as a shock if you've lived firmely rooted in the material world. They lie in the feeling of pure bliss of just being yourself and doing what you love.

If god / source / the universe would have wanted you to be any different, he / she / it would have chosen another person to do your job. You have been chosen because you're the best person to do it. You have been born under these signs for a reason.

There is nothing wrong with waiting. You've got all the time in the world. This life is just one schoolday in your soul's learning process that spans aeons. What you cannot accomplish now you will accomplish another time.

What we need to learn is to really, truly, deeply TRUST our path and that we're being guided in the proper direction. Always. Also when we perceive ourselves as doing nothing. Right now I am in a waiting period. My studies and my learning process have brought me back into contact with my intuition and I just know in my heart that it is correct for me to wait now. While I'm waiting, I notice how I am energetically worked with, how things change in me on the inside, while on the outside I use my time for learning as much as I can about systems I am being pulled to. Books cross my way at a speed I have never known before. I allow myself to devour knowledge and I LOVE it. And whenever god / source / the universe (I phrase this widely, so you might recoginze yourself in it, but to me its God) presents me with the chance of being of guidance for somebody I am being allowed to apply my new knowledge and integrate it further, thereby developing my own system.

Accepting what I can do with my tools as a projector has broadend my vision of what I can accomplish in this life. I finally have a vision to follow, but it is not me choosing the path. I'm just sitting back relaxing and letting god / source / the universe choose the direction, presenting me with courses of study, books and people. You can say I'm properly doing nothing while getting ahead at the speed of light.

Did the Human Design system or this book do this for me? No. And this is why I can't give this beautiful piece of Evelyns heart the full rating.

Human Design (and Evelyn's book) excells at being a signpost of how to properly use your tools. If you choose to accept and follow your design, meaning your strategy and authority, if you take a look at your activated gates, your channels, your definition, etc. this system can be a true road map for you. It can show you the way, it can tell you which potholes to avoid, it can even guide you to recognizing your darker potentials, your shadows. But it doesn't offer you the tools to work with them.

And that's the crux of Human Design: it presents you with the facts of who you "are" in this life and leaves you to deal with it. To a beginner the system appears to be immensely complicated and there seems to be no way in hell you can ever figure this out on your own - all awhile you're under the impression that you NEED to figure it out else you will be never be happy. So you go ahead and buy the *very* expensive sessions and courses the system has to offer.

Something that really didn't sit well with me was the tremendous upselling that is going on this book (and Human Design in general). And isn't this something a projector isn't meant to do? To be pushy? Still the author pushes her own and Karen Curry Parker's courses and sessions on every other page. This is something I strongly dislike about the whole system. It abuses projectors as cash cows. They're prone to not knowing who they are and what they are going to do with there lives, and Human Design uses their desperation to milk them. There are numerous expensive offers for projectors on the main Human Design website alone, because you know, they need more information than everybody else... (that's what it says on the page).

I don't think there is somehing wrong with having somebody explaining your chart our teaching you the basic concepts. But whenever I see the amounts of money that are involved with this I feel disgusted. I know people need to live and the HD training is expensive to begin with, but the good feeling of helping others should never come at this price rate. I strongly belief a system shouldn't instill fear and people and then offer them paid help. Ra Uru Hu said some things about projectos that made me hate myself (and him). And then I ended up paying for some of the above mentioned offers in order to make my traumatized self feel better.

In the end Human Design only offers you a framework of what you can excell in in this life - and point out some other things that might not be a good option for you (and which you wouldn't enjoy anyway). But you'll have to do the healing yourself. You cannot pay someone to heal you or stop the hurt. This is a huge misconception of our time: we hurt and then we pay somebody to take it away.

Take responsibility for your own life, take responisbility for your hurt. You can heal yourself. And there are so many beautiful ways to do so, try as many as you can to find the one you love. To me it was the science of Yoga that started me on my healing journey. I owe my life to it (and my Vedanta teachers who opened my eyes for what is real and what is not).

Find a system (or more) that puts you at peace, that fills you with silence and joy. Once you're peaceful you'll realize what TRULY is you.

This book keeps telling you: be happy, wake up happy... But you can't make happiness happen. You need to discover that happiness has always been inside of you and nowhere else. And Human Design won't tell you how. This is where "Becoming an empowered projector" falls short. It CANNOT empower you, you can only empower YOURSELF. The book tries very hard and that's where it gets repetitive. The same concepts are being presented again and again, the same wording is used and it gets old by the second time you heard it. The multitude of lists and tips in the later half of the book repeat themselves too many times.

Remember: We as projectors are here to make sense of systems. YOU can make sense of Human Design. If you're new and feel lost, get a reading of your chart and then start from there.

Human Design: The Definitive Book of Human Design, The Science of Differentiation can help you a lot with further interpretation. I also loved The Gene Keys: Unlocking the Higher Purpose Hidden in Your DNA which presents a very different look at Human Design gates. It helped me a lot to understand my full potential / tools and is much more wholesome than HD itself.

The biggest flaw I see with Human Design is that it leaves a higher power (consicousness / god / source / the universe) out of the equation. And that's why this system won't fill the empty space you feel inside of you. You will continue to hurt if you cannot find the missing part to your heart. And it has always been inside of you. The way can only lead inside.

As Evelyn puts it: Heal yourself first. And then put your tools to work.

Can this book be an important dooropener on your way? Yes, definately, if you allow it to make you think. I'm glad I read it and thank Evelyn for all the work she put into it.

Today, I'm glad about discovering Human Design, I'm glad that it crashed me down, that it broke all the concepts I had about myself and through years of self inquiry is leaving me with what I essentially am (especially without an defined G center): nothing and everything. In essence: pure consciousness.

As it is written on the temple of Apollo at Delphi:
I warn you, whosoever you are, you who wish to know the secrets of Nature, if you do not find within yourself that which you seek, neither will you find it without. If you ignore the excellencies of your own being, how do you intend to value other excellencies? Within you is hidden the treasure of treasures. Man, know thyself, thus will you know the Universe and Gods.

Excellent Human Design Handbook for the Projector

The ‘Projector’ is one of the five Types delineated within the Human Design system, a system that utilizes astrology, the chakra system, the Kabbalah and the I Ching in order to determine and explicate the ‘human design blue print.’ Similar to an astrological natal chart, but not, the Human Design chart is much more comprehensive than all of these separate disciplines.

Obviously I was at first skeptical, being an astrologer. But after being introduced to Human Design a decade or so ago by a fellow astrologer, I’ve since come to realize that Human Design is a much more extensive and quite accurate view of an individual than, sadly, even astrology can be. (Although, to be fair to astrology, there are many aspects of astrology that Human Design does not address.)

Still, while not being a treatise on Human Design, per se, BECOMING AN EMPOWERED PROJECTOR is a Handbook for the type known as the Projector. This is a welcome addition, since at the time I first learned of Human Design many years ago, and the fact that I am a Projector, there were few books even on the discipline of Human Design itself (that I was able to locate, anyway), much less the various components, such as the Types.

What Ms. Levinson says in BECOMING AN EMPOWERED PROJECTOR really resonated with me, both based on the feelings and events which I had already experienced, as well as the fact that the Projector is here to guide others. Being a Projector has answered so many of the frustrating unanswered questions (until now) that I had regarding several health issues I’ve experienced.

However, I must clarify this by stating that I was also diagnosed with a very physical health issue that affects me in exactly the same way that most Projectors tend to experience: extreme fatigue and burn out. Could it be that I wrote this into my Soul or Sacred Contract before incarnating into this lifetime in order to ensure that I WOULD ‘stay down’? I think that might be the case.

Specialized, but excellent information. Highly recommended for Projectors or those with family members or friends who are Projectors.

A solid book for projectors all around. Some of the talking points became a bit repetitive, but I enjoyed it and it was an easy read packed with tips.

Honestly, this book answered many of the questions I have been pondering last 3 years. Now I understand why I burned out and frequently feel 'bitter' emotions. Deep down I knew it was negative but somehow I slid through the slippery edge and stayed there for a solid 2 years.

I am truly grateful to read this interesting, full of wisdom to make some meaning about myself and life, and people in general. Such a valuable work. Your fellow projectors appreciate it fully.

The last chapter made me cry and felt deep in my heart that the author was talking to me directly. I felt as if she was hugging me softly and telling me how we are precious and empowered being.

I can't express how I am genuinely glad to find this book and speed-read it. Thank you for deciding to write and publish this book. Thank you!

This book is fantastic and I would say *required reading* for projectors! I've been studying human design for 5 years and this book brought all the information together in a loving, useful, genuinely empowering way! I feel more excited to be a projector than ever, and a lot of my confusion was cleared around things like invitations and initiation. Thank you, Sweet Evelyn! What a gift you've given us!!

It is not a bad book. I was just expecting more.

For me, it struggles in some of the pitfalls that every self-help book must run in to. It is too generic.

I found the language and writing style very tedious which meant it was a bit of a struggle to get through.

For someone very new to human design it may be a gold mine. To me it only provided a few sprinkles of valuable insights for which I am grateful.

Really great book for all fellow projectors. It isn't a long book but packed with wisdom and guidance to better understand ourselves. I specially like the sections about managing energy and what to do while waiting for an invitation, if not there will be bitterness (I will have to re-read this section on how to heal bitterness because it's quite comprehensive).

Easy to understand for a beginner

As an absolute beginner coming to Human Design, this book describes clearly the feelings of being a Projector in a world that isn't built for us. But there are ways for us to survive and thrive once we know how to use our authority. Easily understood.

I’ll give it 4 stars because I could relate to most of what it says and it helped me understand many of my patterns a conducts. I’m a projector after all so I am this book’s target.

But americans tend to be redundant and extensive and could have been much shorter and still send the message across.

I still placed it on my “life changing” pile though.

3.5 ⭐️s — this book made me feel so seen as a projector! Lots of good gems and moment of reaffirming beliefs while reading this.

I didn’t love the writing and felt like it could have been a bit more interesting overall, but also know the author was kinda taking a leap to write this and appreciate so much that she did.

Such a good resource that compiles the experience of Projector energy. I’d definitely recommend this to any Projector, new or experienced. I love the concept of using EDMR or Brainspotting to focus in on the keys mentioned here - I’ll be implementing that into my process!
