His ascent to fame picked up when he became a writer for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and later became a frequent guest on the Tonight Show.

In the 1970s, Martin performed his offbeat, absurdist comedy routines before packed houses on national tours. In the 1980s, having branched away from stand-up comedy, he became a successful actor, playwright, and juggler, and eventually earned Emmy, Grammy, and American Comedy awards.

At one point in the audiobook it mentions leaving an honest review to help reach someone else who may benefit from the messages told in this book, so here it is. There’s nothing new, nothing profound or unexpected within these pages, but the same ideas and advice you’ve heard a million times is delivered in a way that feels attainable. I don’t know yet if this has truly helped me, but am walking away with renewed determination to improve. That’s all you can ask for

self help

Short and but nothing new. Sometimes seems redundant to the point where I thought maybe my audiobook was looping but the phrasing was slightly different. It's fine if you don't have a lot of time but it's more like a pep talk than something that will help you make changes.

3.5 rounded down just cause I would recommend other books or even a ted talk in its place.

A quick read but impactful with every minute you listen or read. Martin makes self discipline seem so simple while also reminding you that it isn't.

This book should be on every leader's bookshelf.

Informative and thought-provoking. I'll be rereading this in the future and plan to utilize what I've learned. Additionally, I thought the audiobook narrator sounded great.

2.5! AN entry-level book on self discipline. He said a few things that never came full circle, but overall, it’s a quick high level overview.
