Quilting Bee & Tea Shop #3

Embroidery Cottage

Rate this book
When Euan, the rich and handsome flower grower, buys another field, it comes with a pretty cottage. Deciding to rent out the cottage, he advertises that it’s available.

Poppy has started up her own craft business in Glasgow, designing embroidery patterns, but moves to Euan’s cottage in the Scottish Highlands on the West Coast by the sea. She’s pleased to find out that there’s a local quilting bee held in the tea shop every week, and the ladies of the bee welcome her to join them.

Poppy wants to concentrate on her embroidery work, and isn’t looking for romance or another broken heart. Euan has never been lucky in love, but maybe his luck is about to change when Poppy moves into the cottage.

Note:
The book includes a bumblebee embroidery pattern designed by the author, De-ann Black, to download.

This is the 3rd book in the lovely series set in Scotland, about making a new life for yourself, new friends and the prospect of a partner.

In this book, Poppy moves to the small village by the sea on the West Coast of Scotland and rents a cottage from Euan, the local flower farmer.

Poppy creates and sells embroidery patterns and finished embroidery pieces. She fits in quickly with the local ladies in the quilting bee, and they help encourage her romance with the strapping, handsome farmer.

A lovely story, easily read in a couple of hours. Although a standalone story, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

At about 100 pages, Embroidery Cottage could be read in one sitting, but I did it in two. A quick read of book three in the Quilting Bee and Tea Shop series and we have met, learned to care for, and root for Euan and Poppy. Poppy moves into Euan's rental cottage and finds new friends, a calmer life, and the perfect place to work on her embroidery design and kit business. Euan, a flower farmer, is instantly attracted to her but she has been burned before and just wants to be friends. This is a stand alone offering, but characters from the first two stories appear in this tale. This is a light-hearted and fun read. But, I got more out of it than just some pleasant time-passing. It helped me make a decision. Simultaneously, on my Kindle, is an ARC romance that I have been debating whether to abandon due to the language and what amounts to soft-core porn love scenes. I must have missed the cues I look for in the blurb. I had already contemplated how the story could be written just as well without those elements and Embroidery Cottageproves it can be done. I'm not saying Embroidery Cottage is great romantic literature, nor is it intended to be; but the other book is just gratuitous, in my opinion. Anyway, this is a cute book and I will prolly look for the other books in the series, just to meet up with the other folks living in this quaint village in the Scottish Highlands. Recommend.

Another great book in the series. I love these as an in between read. Something you can sit and work through and know it’s a feel good book. As someone once called it a marshmallow book. It follows the story of a young woman leaving Glasgow to set up a small craft business. This would be doing the thing she loves most embroidery. Going against other people’s negativity she takes the plunge and manages to add some romance

This is the 3rd book in the series. A nice, if predictable, storyline, similar to the others in that the main character has escaped from the city to the countryside/coast & falls in love in the first few pages!
However, I enjoy the vivid descriptions of a)the scenery, b) the needlework which is a main theme running through the books and c) the food from Gordon's tea shop!
