HE TAKES ALL HIS GIRLFRIENDS SAILING - ONE LAST TIME.
Agent Connelly tracks him through the streets. She searches for his identity, for the reasons behind his murders. Even he doesn't know the answers to those questions. She needs to find him, to stop him. How can she when he doesn't even know who he is. All he knows is that he loves women…
As long as they're dead.
He kills to forget. She hunts for her past. The Sunset Killer is sinking bodies into the Gulf of Mexico, and it's up to her to fish them out. St. Petersburg, Florida has a problem - one bigger than they know - and they'd better pray that Meredeth Connelly is the answer.
Rich. Good-looking. Charming. Fancy car and boat.
If he invited you for an evening cruise, would you go? His victims did, and it was their last sunset.
Savannah Savior, prequel - An interesting and intense read. Meredeth, an FBI agent and profiler, creates some of the intensity with her pain. Her two male cohorts are also good characters sharing a gamut of emotions over Meredeth's pain and the investigation. The story lines are interesting. 4*
Mercy Forsaken, #1 - Interesting. Intense. Good characters and good story lines made it hard to put the book down. Good pace through out the story. I had a problem with the FBI accusing a law officer of being the serial killer; there was not enough evidence. While all the Evil was terrible, one scene was especially brutal. The murders were described with minimum detail, not graphically gory. Meredith finally woke up and sought help for her migraines. While not exactly a cliffhanger, the story continues. 4*
Her Last Sunset, #2 - Begins about a year after Mercy Forsaken ends. Rather intense, good paced and extremely hard to put down. I figured out the unsub's helper but got a big surprise on how wrong and right I was. The story goes back and forth in time but the well thought-out story lines keeps everything interesting and immersing. Good characters and interesting dialogues. The murders are not gory graphic and the vulgar language is not excessive. 5*
Mile Marker 33, # - Awesome read. I like the depth of detail that the author writes about Meredith's health problems from the stabbing. If course, he has the medical experience of what she went through, less the stabbing. I recommend starting this series from the beginning, but a new reader won't be confused by starting with MM33. There are continuous and new story lines so while not a cliffhanger the story continues. Good characters and good dialogues with a minimum of profanity. Interesting. Intense. Difficult to put down. 5*
Another excellent entry in a series that is proving to be intense, emotional, breathtaking, maddening, and with non-stop action. The characters are becoming like family and are realistic, and believable. I really like the character of Bobby. He is protective, and understanding, and always has a spark of dry humor to diffuse a tense situation. The relationship between Meredeth and Kevin is one of my favorite parts of this series. They have an adult, intimate relationship without the story devolving into erotica. Some authors go for the lowest common denominator and shock valve in this area and I appreciate that Mr. Vick doesn't do that. Meredeth comes off the pages like a real person. She is brilliant as a profiler but has her share (and a little more) of the physical ailments that people have to deal with. It makes her feel more three-dimensional and not a cardboard cut-out pasted on the page. The 'bad guy' here is one for the record books. I had my suspicions but with all the red herrings Mr. Vick uses I was never 100% sure I had figured it out. (My favorite type of story.) The revelation of the killer's identity definitely proves the human mind is one more deep, dark place. I highly recommend this series and I can't wait to see what Mr. Vick comes up with next. I received a review copy from the author via Story Origin and I would like to thank them for the opportunity to read it.
Her Last Sunset, E. H. Vick's newest addition to his Meredeth Connelly Mind Hunt Thriller collection, is everything I expected and so much more. Once again a murderer is on the loose, and "Super Profiler" Meredeth Connelly and her partner, Bobby, are called in to catch him. But this time the situation is more complex, and the unsub isn't following the profile. How are they supposed to catch someone when they can't get close to him? How many more people are going to die while Meredeth and Bobby run in circles? If you like suspenseful, action filled crime thrillers then Her Last Sunset is definitely for you!
The book starts out detailing the experiences of a kidnapped young girl and what her kidnapper is physically, mentally, and emotionally doing to her. This segways into a murder, where the victim is found with part of her torso missing. Meredith finds the murder(s) convoluted. How do Kevin and Bobby fit into the scheme of things? Will we learn more about the kidnapped girl? Will Meredith figure out the identity of the unsub? Will you pick up on some of the clues? I did not want to put the book down.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
The second book in the Mind Hunt Thriller series has Meredith Connelly, the FBI's top profiler and her partner Bobby Van Zandt in St Petersburg FL tracking down a killer who takes his victims on a deadly sunset sail. But there's a side story that links everything (including the first book- and future ones) in such a crazy, twisty fashion and seriously has me chomping at the bit for the next one! The characters, & the story lines will definitely draw you in & keep you there.
Meredith Connelly and her partner, Bobby Van Zandt are in Florida trying to catch a serial killer that seems to be steps ahead of them. The characters are engaging and believable. the story kept me guessing and turning the pages to see what could possibly happen next. Another action packed book in the series that is a must read for people who enjoy crime thrillers with strong female leads. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
An amazing addition to a stellar series. I’m actually speechless. The story was engrossing and well written. The chapters alternated between past and present yet the mystery that was presented tied them together seamlessly. I love the female protagonist as well as her supporting males who are dynamic and multifaceted. Definitely a book not to miss!
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Petite blond girls missing until a torso washes to shore in western Florida . The ADA, blonde Sonja Sargent , specifically requested Meredith Connelly ' s help . I found this ADA , a bit tense and demanding and weird . The story is well written , about a child abducted and trained by her "father " to kill. Interesting psychological aspect . I didn't see any typos .
An excellent follow up to the first in series. Some really bizarre twists that will keep you guessing. If you're into anything police or mystery then this is for you. Lots more to say but don't want to put in any spoilers.
Who is the abductor who stays invisible while luring women to their deaths? Meredeth is flummoxed that the killer is always one step ahead. Is this case connected to her previous one. A suspenseful page turner with well defined characters and a plot which left me craving for more.
Meredith and Bobby are sent to Florida. Someone is killing again. You get some of the back story of what John Doe did to the kids he kidnapped. Is it one of these kids that is doing the killing? This book keeps your interest and moves along at a good pace.
But it was way too obvious. A trip to prison to visit John Doe does not lead to any great insights. It seems obvious the unsub is one of his but he's not for telling. Eventually a case of road rage, of sorts, unmasks the unsub. Was I the only one not surprised?
Here's another page turner from this author. I wish I had read this series in order, but I didn't. These books are great and will have you staying up beyond your bedtime reading.
Another 5 star read from E.H. Vick. Perfectly written, this story reels you in and does not let go. The plot is good and well paced. Its a brilliant must tread.
I got through this in a few hours. Full of intense action, suspense, drama, and intrigue throughout the story. I highly recommend this series to everyone.
The plot was full of suspense and interesting characters but I could do without the long phone calls between Meredith and Kevin. They didn’t add anything to the story IMO.
FBI agents Meredeth Connelly and Bobby Van Zant are sent to St Petersburg to track down a serial killer, who dumps the bodies of his female victims in the Gulf of Mexico. As time is running out, their job is to stop him as soon as possible. A great 2nd book in the series. The plot is great, as well as the characters. Fun book to read .
