My fellow rescuer tell the tail you all should know.
I was an EMT on Saint Michael’s Rescue about ten years later then the tales told in their book. The selfless call to duty talked about in this pages stirred memories in me that both make me long for my time on the rig and simultaneously be relieved those day are behind me. Chris offer outsiders a view into our world that has never before been told in a way that rings true to me. Told here are the tales of a unique agreement of college students volunteering on an ambulance that serves a diverse area, we cover both farm land and densely housed areas, sleepy back roads and a 26 mile section of interstate. But more importantly in these pages you will read about a coming of age through trials of fire (sometimes literally). Chris talks about his friends his faith and at time the darker side of helping people. This is a read for anyone considering a career in service or just anyone who wants to know what those in service go through.
This account of EMT’s who were also attending college in Vermont demonstrates the skills, teamwork & compassion of these young students during their emergency calls. Humor is sprinkled throughout about certain calls & ways these EMT’s let off steam. The emotional toll on them was significant after some of their heartbreaking calls. They were exceptional men & women.
Great book. Shows the very real side of being a first responder. Shows that everyone involved in emergency services like this carries with them the bad calls and the good calls. It's a different job and those of us who do it know what it's like.
An excellent story of a true national treasure. St Michael’s crew deserve national recognition for their dedication to others while working towards a college degree. Their unselfish actions are a blessing to the community they serve.
This is a great book and has many life lessons, I would recommend it to anyone, but mostly to young people just starting out in life as an example to follow.
