Although the story is old fashioned, The Maxwell Brides Series contains violence, adult language and themes, and descriptions of physical intimacy. It is intended for mature readers.
Kept me from putting the book down, it was so captivating! Real people and real settings. Anyone who likes a good love story as well as exciting story will love this!
I couldn't put the book down. Great storylines, wonderful characters and so much action. I was truly entertained. Counting down to the next book in the series.
Such riveting stories of strength, hope, and love. The storyline woven through all of the books was incredible. But it made me sad to think how long this abuse has been going on.
I love series books and this is one goes straight to the top, I love how each one rolled into each story..It was a very interesting concept, but true to it’s self..so what’s the next series ?
I couldn't put it down! While there were some spelling and punctuation mistakes, the books were so good they were easy to overlook. This series is the first I've read of Krissyann Granger but won't be the last!
I loved this series. I liked that you followed the "family" the whole way through all five books. The characters were all written so well. I liked that the men were written so real and the women were also. It was a great series!
This set of five books definitely caught my interest and kept me reading at all hours. I do think it could have used another look by an editor to catch errors like using the word passed when you meant past. There were enough of them that it would have been worth the time.
I read this series having never read this author's books before. When I first started Book 1, I was thoroughly enjoying Jeni & Scott. When Scott told her he wouldn't be able to marry her, Keri was livid. Knowing she could not return to Boston fueled her determination to marry Scott, holding him to the agreement of mail order marriage. When Scott was shot & before he died, he wanted to be sure one of the "Brothers" would take care of Jeni. He made Caine promise. When Caleb was told he had to step up & marry her that same night, he fought the idea. He was told Scott said it had to be Caleb. As you read through the book you discover why Caleb, & can feel their love grow. Book 2: Caine has decided he is ready for marriage again. His first wife Amy was kidnapped & then killed during her rescue. Sarah decided to follow her friend Keri to Montana as a mail order bride, after she received letters about her experience. Her advantage was knowing all the names of the Maxwell Group, so when she was given the letter from Caine she jumped at the match. She wasn't expecting to have to fight Caine for the opportunities to work with the horses, carry her gun & knife. She wanted to be accepted for being true to her nature. Book3: Will has traveled to Boston after Caleb made a promise to Mr. Jacobs, to find & rescue his daughter Maggie Jacob's who was kidnapped 6 months ago. Will follows many leads, has successfully found other women that were kidnapped. He requests the help of his brother Hank after finding one woman who was so traumatized by her captivity, he feels she would be better in Montana than Boston. Hank knows it is going to be a difficult trip back to the ranch when Abigail faints at any type of stress but he needs to stay close to her & never leave her alone. Angela wonders how she will ever be normal again, but is determined to get better. One of her biggest obstacles is her jealousy of Jeni & Sarah. She has always hated Jeni & wants to be more like Sarah. Book4: Will has been in Boston for a year, still searching for Maggie Jacobs, & is determined he has to find her before he can return to his ranch in Montana. Maggie eventually escapes & returns to her family mansion unaware that Will followed her & believing it is the Maxwell Group who is responsible for her father's death. Maggie is determined to get revenge & it is a challenge for Will to convince her Mr. Benson is evil & not a friend. They decide to enter a marriage of convenience, but both of them are hiding attraction to each other. Soon it is no longer a marriage of convenience. After several attacks at the mansion Maggie truly believes Mr. Benson is after the money her mother left in a trust, to her & a sister she never knew. One of these attacks leaves Will severely beaten & fighting for his life. After word reaches the Maxwell Group, the brothers are heading to Boston. The wives are ordered to remain at the ranch. Ranch hands are threatened to not assist the wives in traveling to Boston. The wives, children,, Rose, Iris & Opal are headed to Boston the next day. Book 5: Opal & Daniel remain in Boston after sending all the other Maxwells back to Montana. Opal is a puzzle solver, a genius with numbers & codes. She convinces Will & Maggie to let her stay in the mansion & continue trying to bring Mr. Benson's organization down. Rose & Iris had a plan up their sleeve before leaving for Montana, in order for Daniel to stay he had to marry Opal. They just couldn't leave them unmarried & living together. Marriage of Convenience....to be annuled? Will & Maggie know how this story will end. Opal is amazing at deciphering the codes in the logs that Will & Maggie found. Daniel is the support & strength Opal needs to continue trying to solve the Codes. Opal can't begin to explain how she is breaking the code, but eventually she is able to reveal several addresses at once for a mass breach & rescue more than one woman at a time. The closer they get to bringing Mr. Benson to justice, the harder it becomes & the farther Daniel & Opal become in their relationship. Will it ever end? Will they ever bring down the entire trafficking ring? What happens when they do?
Overall there were few errors in the books. A few times the wrong pronoun was used. A few times the wrong person's name was used in a sentence. I did find it strange that after someone said something, there would be a period. Then the next sentence was " He said." That happened frequently. I am anxious to read the next 5 books in the series.
This is my 2nd time to read the 1st 5 books & each of the characters have challenges to overcome & to heal from. The action keeps your attention & makes it hard to put the book down. I can't help but wonder when people started to recognize the kidnapping of women, children & men as well & actually do something about it beyond families trying to get their loved ones returned. With all the trafficking that goes on today, society clearly has not made adequate progress. All too often, family does this to their own along with other traffickers who are not related. At least we are somewhat more aware with movies like: Sound of Freedom. May we make more progress in the future to prevent & protect those of any age & background from these life changing events.
What a captivating series! I was drawn in from the start. There were so many rises and falls, you never knew what was going to happen. Cried tears of joy and sorrow along with all the characters. I appreciated the reality in the books, as so often situations are romanticized and gloss over the pain of abuse, but not in this series. It was written in a very real way. I also appreciate how different the characters all are and their tenancies were kept consistent through all of the books. Very well written and I look forward to reading more of Krissyann Granger's books
There ends up being a ton of characters in this series! I kept most people straight, except all the kids and babies. I liked the series. I usually stick to clean reads, so this was a little outside my usual, but I did enjoy it. There is swearing (no f-bombs) and on page sex, usually married couples. Book 3 seemed to have more scenes and one very awkward chorus. The characters and found family were enjoyable. One complaint is that when the bad guy is finally defeated, she doesn't explain how or what happened. That was frustrating.
I read all 5 books in about 5 days. I couldn't stop. Great stories of family passion, love, marriage, tragedy, loss, success and failure. Bring a box of tissues. By the last story, I wanted the Maxwell family to adopt me too. The back story of human trafficking was heartbreaking. All together it was a great introduction to all the Maxwell clan, and I will look for more about the family in future books from this author.
Interesting characters. I wish I was friends with all of them, especially Opal, Sarah, Abigail and Maggie. I laughed and I kid you not...I cried at times. Great job Ms. Granger. Thank you for sharing your stories with us.
The story had a lot of action, however is tired of Daniel and Opal being “so in love” then distancing. It happened too many times for me. Otherwise it was a very interesting and page turning read.
Could not put it down to sleep. You will enjoy the series and wish for more. MS Granger is a talent that will only get better with time. But as she is is superb.
My favorite is the 4th book. There is a bunch of overdone violence in the other four books in the series. Some is a bit overdone, but it is still an entertaining series.
Thoroughly enjoyed each book. I liked how the next book built on the first without forgetting those characters. The storyline of abduction and rescue were enjoyable
This is a great set of books! I was never bored, because there are some awesome plot twists in every book. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
Loved these books, just going to start books 6-10. Really looking forward to Deans story. Though I think Bank and Abigails story was my favourite so far
