Nothing brightens up a Monday like finding out you’re the spawn of Satan

The big bad is dead and now Satan’s spawn must fight for the Morningstar throne. I’m tossed into the ring, whether I want to be there or not.

I’m mostly human, a hunter by trade, and totally outmatched by my half siblings. The chance I’ll survive these tests and claim the throne is slim.

Then someone starts assassinating my siblings.

It’s only a matter of time until I’m next.

I’m not the kind of girl who depends on anyone, but there are four demons who could help me survive this fiasco—a sadistic Nightmare, a psychotic efreet, a charismatic Fallen and Sin, an unhinged monster. Problem is, like all demons, they’re absolutely, sinfully tempting.

I’m pretty sure they each have their own agenda.

I’m also pretty sure one of them is the killer.

Let the games begin.

An Urban Fantasy Paranormal Romance filled with action, mystery, sizzle and multiple love interests for our lucky heroine.

This is my second read by Debbie Cassidy this year and both were 5 stars, I just love her books!

Demon Throne is the first book in an urban fantasy paranormal romance series for adults (yup its steamy!) where we follow Nyx, a demon hunter who lives in the human world. She is a total badass, doesn't run from a fight and isn't scared to stand up for others. She has this HUGE yet adorable dog, Chase, who always has her back and is incredibly loyal.

As Satan dies, Nyx discovers that not only is she one of the spawn of Satan, she must also face her deadly half-siblings in a competition to the death for Satan's throne. If you, like me, love the found family trope, you will love the development of Nyx's relationship with her newly discovered half-siblings.

The romance is slow burn but full of chemistry, which is perfect because one of the things that I always worry about with reverse harem is instant love between the MC and some of the love interests, which is not the case here at all! Nyx has multiple love interests and they are all possessive of her (I can't wait to see how this dynamics will play out, alpha males are my guilty pleasure). Sev is probably my favorite (I can't resist a dark and damaged bad boy).

Thank you so much to lagardnermedia for gifting me a copy of this book!

Debbie Cassidy books are either hit or miss with me. "Demon Throne" is definitely a miss! First and foremost, it is hard to like a book when you do not like the main character or any character. That was the case for me with Nyx. I really didn't care for her. Her only redeeming quality was her animal companion, Chase. All of the characters seem to walk the line of not quite good and not totally evil. There just wasn't enough of a disparity in emotions for me to cheer one side over another.

The gist of the plot is the Satan was a ho. He slept with everyone and anyone. Upon his assassination, all of his children are brought together to compete for his throne whether they want it or not. The contestants are siblings with no real love for one another. Sex is meaningless and rampant. Nyx is attracted to anyone with a penis and quite frankly I quickly grew bored with her immaturity. Don't get me wrong, I am not a prude. I like good monkey lovemaking in my books as the next person. Unfortunately, I just didn't like the casualness of it in this series especially in the first few chapters with Sin.

Life is too short to read books that I have to tolerate rather than enjoy. As you can guess, I will not be going on to the other books in this series.

I am loving Debbie Cassidy’s writing! I enjoyed this book. It had different elements to her other series I recently read. Loved the competition between siblings. The competition just kept it so interesting and having me wanting much more. Our main character is a badass one! She loves a challenge and isn’t afraid to express that.

The smut level wasn’t too crazy, I liked it starting off this way. I’m new to the RH realm so it worked out perfect in that sense. There was a lot of world building in this book and many characters, I’m hoping to learn more about them in the next book! Super excited to add this one to my shelf.

Huge thanks to the author for sending me a copy! All opinions are my own.

Review copy was received from Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The Demon Throne is the first book in the Demons of Morningstar  series.  This is for all you readers that love a good reverse harem situation.  There are four different potentials at play and I'm pretty sure our girl Nyx is going to sleep with all of them by the time the series is done and maybe add a few more to her bed post along the way, only time will tell.

Besides all the sexual tension Nyx is feeling with almost all of the hot guys in her life The Demon Throne also has a really interesting story happening. Nyx thought she was just a human demon hunter and she has trained and honed all of her skills to take down nasties.  Seems that she is also a spawn of Satan, who knew, and now she is up against some of the other Spawns of Satan to take the Demon Throne in hell.

Nyx is going to need a lot of help if she is going to stay alive.  Some of her half siblings seem a bit murderous and all of them want to win the throne.  She will need to find a sponsor and get some protection if she is ever going to make it to the actual trial as Satan Spawn seem to be dropping off left and right.  Good thing she has her trusted hound Chase, a Nightmare and a few other big players who are intrigued by Nyx to lead her through these treacherous times.

The Demon Throne was a good time.  I was intrigued by the world and all the political machinations in it.  Getting to the official contest was only half the battle and now Nyx and the siblings she have left are going to have to fight it out to see who gets to sit on the all powerful throne and rule the underworld.  I didn't think about it too much and just enjoyed myself in the story.  I haven't read any of the other book series Nyx may have been in but this seemed like a good place to jump in and even though I'm sure there is some history I'm missing it didn't seem to impact my enjoyment of this story.  Nyx was fun and I liked getting to know some of the Demon Spawn.  There are also a few pretty hot scenes to kick back and enjoy as well...steamy.

To be able to really enjoy this book I think you are going to have to be on board with the reverse harem aspect of it and not be bothered that Nyx is attracted to four different men and 'enjoys' two of them in this story alone.  If that is not something you are comfortable with I think it will hinder everything else.

Narration:

Avie Paige narrates the majority of the story as Nyx's PoV.  I liked her fun take on Nyx's passionate yet carefree ways and how she made the story fun.  Connor Brown did get a little ear time as the few Male PoVs.  The timbre of his voice was seductive and I enjoyed listening to his portion of the book.  Both are new to me narrators that I'm sure I'll enjoy listening to in the next books of the series.

This was a quick read! I loved the sibling competition aspect of it and always love finding the competition trope in books.

Nyx is such an epic heroine and I love the relationships and comradely she develops with all of her siblings. I’m eager to see it develop on future books.

I will say that at the beginning, I did have trouble keeping everything and everyone straight…there were a bunch of names and new things to learn in order to fully grasp the world building…but once I had an understanding I was able to really enjoy the book.

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Debbie Cassidy is quickly turning into one of my favorite indie authors! I was anticipating a wicked, morally gray story when I picked up DEMON THRONE, and yet this was an even more enticing adventure! I admit the world-building was a little hard to keep up with at first. There’s lots of names, lots of species, and sometimes it was difficult to keep up with the differences. Once I settled down though, it was impossible for me not to be absorbed by the story!

Nyx is exactly the sort of protagonist I adore. She’s strong, smart, sassy and knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. Despite this, I loved the soft side that shines through in her interactions with her animal companion, Chase, and with her siblings as the story progresses. I was especially surprised by how much I became invested in the sibling relationship between Nyx and the other Satan spawns, reason why I was heartbroken on several occasions toward the end. My heart is in ruins!

Another aspect I really love of Debbie Cassidy’s writing is the way she builds up her romantic tension. Being this a reverse harem romance, I was expecting many sparks to fly. There wasn’t too much in terms of sex as of now (though what we got of it was HOT), but the tension was absolutely on point, and I was 100% invested in all her interactions with the boys. This harem…there’s a chance it might be quite large, but when I tell you I am in love with all the prospects, I’m not lying to you. Do I have my favorites? For now, it has to be Artimus and Sev, but the story is just beginning and things are bound to get deliciously steamy in the near future.

10/10 recommend this book to anyone who loves morally gray characters, urban fantasy and sizzling hot romance!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. All opinions are my own.

What a fantastic start to this series! This was a fast paced read with lots of mystery. The world building is exceptional! The characters are fun and unique. Seven of the characters introduced are spawns of Satan and they are all in competition for daddy dearest’s throne.

Nyx is the main character, a human/demon hybrid who has a companion hound named Chase. She’s a fierce, mysterious, witty, and horny little demon.

We are also introduced to some of her love interests and the spice was pretty hot with Sin & Sev. I may or may not confirm if Sev uses his tail erotically to please Nyx. 🥵🥵

You’ll absolutely love this!! If you love paranormal, fantasy, demons, monster romance and the like go grab this book now & thank me later.

This book was my first read by this author and I was so pleased to find her. I immediately fell in love with her writing style. I plan to read many more of her titles! I can’t wait to read the next book when it releases in June.

I’m really enjoying Debbie Cassidy’s writing and her ability to make a name for herself in the paranormal romance genre. If I need an easy read, I definitely know where to go through.

Demon Throne is a sibling competition story. Their father. Lucifer, has been murdered and now one of the spawns needs to take the throne. Someone is killing the siblings and because of the blood spell, only one of their own can harm or kill them.

Nyx doesn’t want to trust or like her siblings, but she soon learns that working together is going to be her only way to survive.

I loved the high stakes and action in this book. I wanted a little more smut because it is a reverse harem novel, but otherwise I enjoyed it and am excited for book 2!

Re-read: I did a re-read and finished the series. Overall for the series, I’d probably give a 3.8 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The last book was rushed and didn’t resolve all the relationships or the plot lines. The author didn’t fully develop the emotional connections between the FMC and some of the MMCs in the RH and ruined one of them for me. I was hoping the relationships would get better as the series went on, but sadly, no. However, the author kills the paranormal and world building aspect in her books and this was better than the reaper series.

Original Rating
More than meets the eye. Review for first 3 books.

This book has everything: ✅ badass heroine, ✅ great plot, ✅ some steam, ✅ multiple sexy men (read: RH), ✅ great world building, ✅ found family, ✅ good side characters, ✅ trials, and ✅ an underdog.

Rating: 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 2.5 🌶️🌶️ (spice could have been longer, more connected)
Tropes: RH, demons, paranormal romance

The series is about the awesome plot and less about the steam. The focus is not the romance, albeit it is a RH. FMC is a hunter who is half demon and half human that was abandoned in the streets in her childhood. While trying to get answers in the demon land, she finds herself thrust into the trials for satan’s seat. Everyone seems to have an ulterior motive - to kill her and each other.

I would have liked the romance and connection between the love interests to be more pronounced. Some of them felt like a struggle to connect to. I also hate RH where the men don’t have preexisting or really any relationship prior to the woman. It makes it awkward.

4 stars a bit slow to star but picks up in the end

In typical Debbie Cassidy fashion the book starts us out pretty quick. One thing I wish I knew was clear is if the universe was the same as a few of the other subsequent series.

Luckily even though I felt overwhelmed by the huge amount of name dropping and info dropping I was able to piece the information together with Nyx. I appreciate how she leads the audience into her thought process and why she thinks the way she does. How she too also don’t know enough of the information which is why we as the audience don’t either.

Im intrigued, I’m invested, I want to know more. I want to know who is going to be in the harem. Is Chase even a hound? What about Loke and Sin? There are a lot of players here and I’m interested in finding everything out.

Fast paced once the story gets going, intriguing enough mystery to satisfy my interest, a developing plot that isn’t just sex. Some will they won’t they tension that I am always looking for in my series. Excited to see where this goes.

Okay, I think i missed a series or something. They refer back to moments like it should be fresh in my mind, but I have nothing to link it back to. I always think if it's a backstory, bring built them. You get the repeated story in book 2...wish it had been in this book.
Besides those moments, this book is filled with spice, action, and mystery. I'm unsure if this will be an RH or just a why choose, but maybe one day chooses romance.

There is steam, spice, smex, and some okay smut.
The world build, although I feel I missed something, is still good enough to paint a world in my mind.
I'm hoping for this FMC to prove them all wrong and kick some hateful ass.

I can officially call Debbie Cassidy a new favorite author! This is the second book I read by this author, and I’m in love! There was court intrigue, sibling dynamics, A DOG, and incredible tension with several potential love interests. Basically everything I love in one book!

I know I say this a lot, but sibling dynamics is right up there along with romance in the list of things I love reading about, and this book had such an amazing sibling dynamic. After years on her own with only the love of her dog, Chase, that of two close friends, and of the woman who raised her, Nyx discovers she has six sibilings— all Satan spawn like her, belonging to different houses and species of demons. (Satan was very active in the bedroom *wink wink*) Despite their differences and prejudices, the six become close. It was so beautiful to read about! *cries with big sister energy* The glue that keeps them all together? Nyx. She’s new to the Morningstar court, new to the politics and schemes, so she’s not blinded by prejudices, class distinctions or competition for the throne as the others are. She helps them overcome these obstacles with her no-nonsense attitude, her sass, and her altruism. You know it’s precious when the big bad warrior of the lot has a moment of fluffiness and helps out the most fragile in the group. *cries with big sister energy again*

As for the potential love interests, they’re all very intriguing. I do have two favorites for now, but we shall see how things play out in the following books. There were a couple of spicy moments, but I have a feeling there’ll be more to come! (Please, unleash Artemus on us. Please! And no, the pun was not intended.)

The final chapters of the book had me in a mess of emotions. They were exciting and shocking. At the end, I hugged my tablet and just stared at the ceiling.

To wrap this squealing review, thank you to the author for sending me an ARC! Opinions are my own.

This was an excellent start to a spin-off series in the Debbie Cassidy world.

I really liked what little we saw of Nyx in Quinn's novels, and she lived up to my expectations. Debbie's female characters also have some similarities, but I really liked Nyx's attitude of not really caring what anyone thought of her and how she owns who she is.

Nyx is living her normal life, when a random trip into demon territory results in her being dragged into a contest for Satan's throne, who just happens to be her dad. Nyx is left with no choice but to comply and quickly turns the head of several guys in the process. As well as this, she is introduced to her gang of half siblings, who she has to compete with, and someone is picking them off one by one!

I think my favourite aspect of this was the bond between the siblings. I was expecting back stabbing and angst, so seeing them become a unit was really endearing.

I'm not sure how I feel about any harem potentials. We have 6 potentials introduced, which generally is a few too many for me, as with too many you just don't feel like there's the relationship development, but we'll wait and see. Things are very much slow burn in the relationship front, although she has past history with a couple of them.

All in all this is an excellent start to what has the potential to be a fabulous series!

THis book is really good. I enjoyed the beginning of an unique story. The demons in the book are just so sweet and awesome. I loved the darkness and grit, however, there was ton of emotion. The main heroine is really snarky and I loved her attitude. The writing is well done. I highly recommend this book.

I love this new series by the queen Debbie Cassidy

I know that every time I pick up on of Debbir Cassidy's books I find strong and sassy heroines, and this time wasn't an exception.

Nyx is so strong even when she gets thrown into the competition for Satan's throne. She doesn't want it nor to compete with her siblings, but she can't help develop a relationship with them. Moreover when her siblings are starting to die, she needs to figure out the culprit also with the hell of four demons.

I can't wait to read book 2!

10 Stars and one the best books to date by this Author!
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nyx is strong, sure about herself and confident!
She is a bounty hunter and has her loyal hound sidekick Chase and apart from her two sisters from another mister - Quinn who he met in the Shifters of Hawthorn Cove and Orina, she diesnt need anyone else in her life and is quite content until she is designated as Satan’s spawn and her life is thrown into chaos.
I love Sin whom we met in an anthology and their dynamic is amazing he trades sexual favours for information alough he refoms teh fovours so teh price is one Nyx is willing to pay sex is enjoyment for her that is untill he asks for a Kiss which for her is a whole different ball game.
Thrown into a game of survival to see who will become teh next Satan she then catches teh eye's of some seriosly Alpha Demons.
Brilliant one liner's flow through this book with a great amount of sizzle plus a whole amazing labryth of a storey this book will draw you in and leave you desperate for teh next book so be warned fraustations may follow and teh urge to throw you kindle will be strong but remember its nit your kindles fault!!!!

How many of us wish a new found family reveals itself to us as we are older? It's a popular trope for a reason, but I'm betting Nyx is wishing for anything BUT! When Satan dies, Nyx's already busy and exciting life (she is a Hunter) takes a demonic turn when it's discovered that she is the spawn of Satan. One hunt turns into another, and suddenly she is competing with half-siblings for the chance to assume a throne she's not even sure she wants.

Oh, and did I mention that she is HUMAN? Well, mostly. That certainly adds a twist to the new found family dynamic. Now, dash everything with some friendly murder and you have the makings of a demonically good tale.

This is also an RH, with four fantastic love interests, though the heat level isn't burn your face off level just yet. Rather, it's not smut, it's a well-placed growth that moves with the story. I'm still on the fence about who is my favorite, because there is a part of me that screams I have to pick one, even though I am an RH veteran and firmly in the #whychoose camp.

While I ended up loving this novel, I was, for the first time, a bit unsure about a Cassidy book. The beginning opens with a bang, but left me wondering if I had actually picked up book 2 and not book 1! While I was rushing to understand, these characters were throwing obvious development and awareness like pennies, and I was left gapping, a touch confused. And then, wham.... realization dawns, and I realize my doubt was, obviously, misplaced. My faith was quickly restored and I found myself immersed in this hellish world, loving and living it as only Cassidy can inspire.

There are some familiar faces and plenty of new characters to entertain. This is fast, complex and just getting started.

Man, I am so sad I am done with this book and I can’t wait to keep going. Get ready for a wild ride as Nyx takes a quick stroll into Morningstar for some info and winds up somewhere she never wanted to be. Murder, power plays and politics abound as Satan’s spawn try to sit on dear old dad’s throne.

Oh my gosh how freaking amazing this read was. I know I say this with every new series she comes out with, but Damn!!! This one I think has just become my favorite Debbie read. I absolutely loved, loved this read. And what is more, this is book one and I get more Nyx.

Be warned though, there is a cliffy, but oh so worth it.

Also if you have read Wolves of Hawthorne then you know who Nyx is. I am so thankful that Debbie decided to write her story. Because I am absolutely loving it. Nyx is such a kick butt main lead. I freaking just love her.

So if you have not given this a read yet, yes please do!! You will not regret it!!!

Demon’s Throne is a great start to a new series. The main character, Nix, is a female spawn of satan that must compete for the vacated throne against her siblings. She is fierce, lethal and loyal even though she is deemed “powerless”. The book is dramatic and fast paced and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Great

I've had this in my TBR list for what seems like forever. But I kept sweeping it aside and was a big mistake. This was an excellent read. One aspect of this book I've b never seen done before is that there is a competition, but for once they team together. Its not an all out war between competitors. Great characters

Steam: 2/5. Strong Language: 2/5. Triggers: Violence, Abandonment, Murder, Assault

Satan is assassinated. His kids have to fight it out in trials to see who will get the throne.

1.) A reverse harem with no harem. She has one encounter and then a dream experience. WTH?
2.) It takes the WHOLE book to get through one demon trial. Feel free to start skimming.
3.) This had potential. The FMC started out pretty cool. There was even two instances of witty banter.
Then it just got repetitive.
4.) Timing. The world building was squashed into the first chapter but other less relevant scenes, side
quest stuff, was given free reign to run amok.
5.) You start out the book by saying Satan has been assassinated. That's interesting. Follow up.

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future.
4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it.
3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories.
2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort.
1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.
