The good + Victor taking care of Azim + Victor's insistence on Azim consenting to the mating mark + Azim making Victor stand up for himself + Victor dealing with Azim's captor
The neutral o In all the time Azim was with Victor on the island, Victor not once thought of an alternative way of communicating with Azim. He never gave him pen and paper or even something to type on. I understand the plot purposes, but come on o The epilogue, the start of Todd's story, doesn't sound appealing at all what with the
The bad - Victor shifted from kraken to human on a busy beach. Then later it's implied humans don't know about the paranormal world. How and why did the beach thing happen then? And I thought krakens were supposed to be top secret - - - - Victor had issues with his brothers, but they were never really talked out
Safe sex is important. These krakens do not know the definition of safe sex. Would not recommend.
I'm sorry to say that for me, I didn't love this book as much as I enjoyed the first one. I had really been looking forward to Victor and Azim's story, but there were just some things that felt off for me?
I actually did enjoy Victor and Azim for the most part. I do think their beginning was a bit "I want to shake you both, you're both so dumb" in the sense that surely they could have figured out another way to communicate while Azim couldn't really talk?
Once they're all back with the rest of Victor's family, that's when things felt more uneven to me. All of a sudden there are all these issues with all the brothers, and I feel like all these problems weren't there in the first book? And they weren't resolved here either. And now I don't know how I feel about one of the brothers, and honestly even Alexi from the first book seemed so different. I don't even know how to fully explain it, but it just feels like something was....off with this book.
I'm intrigued by Todd's book but I hope it'll feel more like the first book than this one for me.
Okay, so it was really mean of them to leave the ending to be continued. Yes I know the third book is coming and it’s about Todd. They didn’t have to tease me like that though. Anyways, I really loved the second book. It’s a five out of five stars even though the ending was just left like it was left. I really loved the story between the two main characters. I love how they found each other. I love how they loved each other and supported each other I just really really love this pair. It was a great book and honestly, it is way better than the first book in my opinion and I am excited to read the third book. They are by far my favorite couple in the whole series even though it’s just the second book.
Book 2 in the Tangled Tentacles series takes place pretty much right where book 1 left off in the epilogue. Kraken shifter Victor has whisked his injured and abused vampire mate Azim off to his families private island for some alone time to help him heal. Unfortunately, all the time spent on the island doesn't seem to be doing the trick of bringing Azim back to his healthy self. With Azim unable to speak, it takes them returning to the Thalassa compound back home for things to make real headway.
Victor was so sweet with Azim. He treated him like the treasure he was, but at some points it moved into coddling zone. I liked how Azim didn't want to be a victim. He was a survivor and he damn well didn't need to be babied. Azim was brave and a vampire. He has had own strengths and he made this known. Yes he loved how his mate took care of him, but he'd been independent for a long time so old habits I guess.
The case Alexi and Danik started working on in book 1 appears to be bigger than anyone knew. We do get some headway on it however and moves are being made. Speaking of Alexi and Danik, it seems Alexi neglected to tell his mate something very important about Kraken reproductive systems. The mpreg aspect is VERY descriptive in this one and to be honest it wasn't what I was expecting based on previous books I've read by Oliver. Let's just say there's no flash of light and a baby appears going on in this one.
As with book 1 the epilogue gives us a sneak peek at the next couple and holy moly I think it's going to be a good one. I thought we were going to have to wait awhile for the only kraken omega to find his mate, but I thought wrong. Not only that, but from that hot little snippet it appears Todd has not one, but two alphas in store for him! I cannot wait to see what happens when the brothers find out!
I was so sure I would like this after I finished the first book.
I liked the bond these kraken brothers seemed to have in the first book. But somehow it didn’t seem so wonderful in this book.
Apparently Victor never quite felt like he fit, but there wasn’t enough explanation as to why that was exactly.
Also, I’ve read a lot of mpreg books and I’m not easily weirded out by stuff. But this birth (Danik from the first book got pregnant) was super gross and weird. I didn’t like it at all.
I thought I would be overjoyed since this book was about Azim, one of the kidnapping victims, but not even the hurt/comfort could save this book for me.
I’m not sure I will read the other book when they come out.
The birth of the twins was so gosh darn beautiful 🥹 I love the whole family. The storyline is interesting and drags through the books so, of course, I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. I can't wait for Markovs book. I read in the blurb that it's Cassian 🤯 Off to Todd's book.
VICTOR is the second book in the Tangled Tentacles series and follows on from book one. I have to say I am loving these brothers. This time, it's Victor's turn. He found his mate, Azim, being held captive and in a very bad way. He thought it would be easy, but when does love ever run smoothly?
To begin with, Victor and Azim are on an island, far from civilisation. They can't communicate as Azim can't speak and when he emerged naked from the sea, with Azim in his arms, Victor misplaced his phone. Although he wanted to communicate with Azim, his first priority was keeping him alive. Azim did what he could, but there was always going to be a communications issue. This didn't bother me at all, as I knew it would be sorted out. My heart broke for Victor when he described himself and his brothers though. Bless him, he is special. He is the world to Azim! Azim shows his strength of will and character and it was wonderful to see his teasing side come out once his health was better.
This wasn't as 'fun' as book one and, you know what? It worked. In Alexi and Danik's story, the missing paranormals were mentioned and were a bit part of the storyline. In Victor and Azim's story, the focus is on one of the survivors, his health, and how he moves forward. The emphasis in this book is on how important mates are, and how you protect each other. And didn't that just make my heart melt?!
As an aside, Alexi was a bit of a jerk in this for a "slightly" important piece of information he forgot to give Danik! All good in the end, but still... He wasn't as bad as Cassius or his fellow Shadows though. They really did me in. And the connection between Markov and Cassius is something I look forward to reading more about. I thought Markov maybe next but instead, it's Todd. And, once again, my heart took a beating. I just want to give him a hug and slap the other two!!!!
This was a fantastic addition to the series and I loved seeing Alexi and Danik's story move forwards whilst keeping Victor and Azim in the foreground. Now, I just have to (im)patiently wait for Todd's book to be released. An absolute corker and highly recommended by me. ** same worded review will appear elsewhere **

I don't really have much to complain about in this book.
Victor and Azim were very cute together.
Alexi was a total ass in this book.
One thing that bugged me is that while honorable that Victor worried about consent it also didn't make sense. Even though limited Azim was able to communicate with head nods or shakes. So he could've given consent if Victor just asked. Also why did it never occur to any of the brothers or Danik to offer something like paper and pen, a tablet, or a phone so Azim could communicate? Azim at least thought about it while at the island. Maybe I missed this and they did or something.

I have so many mixed feelings on this book, it's so chaotic and the cast were so messy - I went form love to hate with certain characters. Also the communication struggles in so many areas got frustrating, especially when most of it was just stupidity and could have been easily fixed.
Victor and Azim's relationship kept me hooked though, I adored their connection and developing relationship. They were so well suited, I enjoyed the possession and protectiveness between the two. Along with the playfulness, the catch game with Kraken so cute!
Also the overlying plot with the missing people is fascinating, more details revealed in this one with background coming to light on how things have been set up. It's interesting and I'm intrigued to learn more, see the people get caught and the missing paranormal rescued.
Now Alexi disappointed me in this one, his lack of informing Danik about the possibility of pregnancy was so annoying. They had opportunity and he was dismissive, when Todd attempted previously so it did piss me off that was confirmed here.
Also it's weird that Azim says he doesn't want kids and yet they never once use protection, Victor says he knows when ready? Does that mean Alexi intentionally got Danik pregnant without discussing, because that's even worse!
I don't know its probably just plot hole/for the spice, but if the Krakens can get literally anyone pregnant regardless of designation then surely they'd be more smart... It just was weirdly handled and lack of discussion or full explanation for me.
The pregnancy itself was intense, but it's always incredible how they make it work in these types of story. It seemed fitting in terms of the water, tentacles and krakens - the brothers being the last of their kind till now.
I do adore the ceremony they bring to events, the pearls when bonding so far always so stunning and fit to the pairing.
Anyway so many characters are dicks in this book, Cassius pissed me off but his whole team too the lack of care over Azim situation just ridiculous. Although I do think some stuff is way to convenient with Azim being a vampire would expect his senses be better... But I know it's for the plot I get it.
The action scenes are incredible, Victor's rescue missions and causing a wreck in his worry for Azim. All of the protective and soft hurt/comfort feels I adore between these two, they rescued the book for me.
Oh and the FBI guy with the victim blaming, let's not forget Todd's idiotic mates. I just don't feel like I'll continue the series at the moment, as all the mates for the rest of the brothers seem like jerks. I'm not invested in them or what their reasons are.
Still I do like the writing in general, the world building is interesting and story entertaining enough to keep me gripped. Along with hitting all the feels and emotions, just maybe not in all the right ways.
Victor & Azim get their happy ending ♥️ While leading into the next for Todd's book, along with underlying plot still open.

Reviewed for Love Bytes – 4.5 hearts Rescued from his abusive captors, Azim is weak and vulnerable. Victor, his fated mate, Kraken Shifter, and part of the investigating agency that saved him, wants to nurture and protect him. Victor is the second book in the Tangled Tentacles Series. During book one, I was acclimatized to Kraken shifters to the point where I looked forward to reading more with this novel. Victor was a super follow-up. The story is written in the third person, with personal thoughts highlighted in a different font. Alternating chapters were from the viewpoints of Victor and Azim, and I don’t know if it’s just me or others find the same, but I get so engaged with the story that I often lose track of whose viewpoint it is. This makes recognizing some technicalities difficult, so I will keep schtum about that side of things. So far, I am enjoying this series as it is entertaining, different, and the characters pulled me into their world. Each brother is NOT a copy of his siblings – they all have individual hang-ups, talents, and places within the family. It was good to have Alexi and Danik’s relationship progression in the background - not taking center stage. There was also more insight into the personalities and interactive dynamics within the firm. All this makes me look forward to future manuscripts. The opening paragraphs of this book made my heart melt. Victor is the middle brother with all the hang-ups that come with the position. He over-thinks, wonders what his place is, etc., and having Azim gives him a purpose. To see his journey to becoming a mentally stronger person was splendid and his Kraken is divine. Vampires in this story are a touch different from other depictions. They have speed and strength, but other than drinking blood, they can pass as Joe Bloggs and are not creatures of the night. As this is a fated mates’ story, Azim is what Victor needs and vice versa, so I’m not going to go into detail here, as to do so would give away the plot. Also – there has to be something unknown to discover. One arc that continues from book one is the agency's investigation into paranormal trafficking. Azim was taken to order and abused. This subject is tackled, and I believe the blurb covers anything that needs to be known without spoilers. Overall, I really enjoyed Victor (out of context, that sounds so wrong!!). It’s a story of family, the importance of one’s mate, trust, and purpose, and that’s not including the drama, angst, and other events within the story. This book was provided free in exchange for a fair and honest review for Love Bytes.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I ws gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 2 in the Tangled Tentacles series. It would help, but not totally necessary, to read book 1, Alexi, before this one. This picks up immediately from the end of that one, and the on-going story arc continues here. Actually, I take that back, you probably SHOULD read Alexi first!
I gave 4 stars to Alexi and Danik's story but this one far surpasses that! And I'm still left with questions and I don't freaking care!
Victor finds Azim at the end of book 1, half dead, and he knows straight away, that Azim is two things: a vampire and his mate. And Victor will do anything for his mate, except bond with him, while Azim cannot say yes. Victor is a little too focussed on waiting for Azim to consent, that he doesn't quite put two and two together and get pen and paper to Azim but hey, the Kraken is besotted! But I did love that, that Victor waited.
It takes time for Azim to be fully aware and awake but he knows Victor, deep in his soul and he knows Victor will save him. Azim suffered badly at the hands of a madman, and it takes time for those injuries to heal, with the help of the pool at the bottom of their building and those little snails!
We find out just what Todd was smirking at Alexi and Danik about, but given what that was, Danik was right to punch Alexi! What happens later in the pool though, was both slightly weird and beautiful at the same time. Not saying what but you'll figure it out!
It's a lot darker than book one, given where he was found and what condition Azim was in, but I think the love level is so much higher. Not just the smexy times, I mean the emotional times. Azim and Victor take the time to get to know each other as Azim heals and a lot comes out. Loved that. Smexy times are there, but more on a back burner, I think.
Hints to Markov (another brother) and Cassius (who leads the group looking for the missing shifters) are front and centre, but he is not next. Todd, the only omega and the youngest in the group of 5 brothers, is up next and his story, I think, might knock this off the favourite perch for two reasons: Todd gets 2 mates, and they are dragons!
Still with the questions though, but I'm trying really hard to shut my question asking book brain down, when reading Sayle books, the woman is a master at wrecking my head!
This book follows on from where book 1 left off, with Azim being rescued from his abductor and Victor taking him off somewhere to heal him. We find them on an island with Victor trying everything he can to heal his mate and totally overlooking the obvious in his desperation. Nothing seems to work and as Azim's throat has been damaged, he can't tell Victor what he needs and is too weak to find anything that could help him communicate with his mate. In desperation, Victor takes them home to his brothers where he is told they need to fully mate for Azim to heal. Victor has put this off as he wanted consent from Azim and he also thought he was too frail and injured to survive. After many hours in the pool Azim is healed and introduced to the members of the agency and the brothers. Victor makes it his absolute goal to find and bring the abductor to justice while the other brothers try to crack the ring that's abducting and selling paranormals. All is going to plan when the security team become lax and Azim is captured again. This leads to a very angry Victor and his Kraken and eventually to the departure of the grumpy Cassius and the rest of his team. Running along side the abduction ring story are Alexi and Danik's impending and unexpected parental roles and a magical birthing scene. I have to wonder if the baby Kraken will play a part in future books.
Overall, I enjoyed this book more than the first one even though Alexi was a total pain this time around. I suspect we may see more of Cassius (as Markov left the same time as he did) and also of Special Agent Fallows. We will see! I totally recommend this book if you enjoy reading MM and love shifters.
This is the second book in the Tangled Tentacles series and already it is one of my favorites! This book starts where the first book left off with Victor and his gravely injured vampire mate, Azim. I think that one of the best parts about a Lisa Oliver book is that her characters are "real" - relatable. Her alpha characters aren't perfect - they have flaws - and often end up having to do a bit of self reflection and groveling to their mates. Victor, as a Kraken shifter, is one of the most powerful shifters in the world, yet he doesn't stand on that as making him all-knowing or incapable of making a mistake. He knows he needs help to deal with his mate and he reaches out to his brothers. Azim may be a slightly twinkish vampire but he's not helpless. After suffering horrific torture and abuse that would have defeated anyone else, he fights for himself and his newly discovered mate and does so with an indomitable spirit and a bit of flirty sass! I loved him! The storyline takes a slightly more serious turn, in that we start to really see what is happening with the missing shifters, and in the telling of Azim's ordeal. Of course, the rest of the Kraken brothers are here, as well as a few new faces and a surprise event that was absolutely amazing! I'm completely in love with this series and I can't wait to start in on the next book, Todd's story. Lisa Oliver is an incredibly talented author and a guaranteed one-click for me, no matter what she writes! Highly recommend starting with the first book and then reading them all! 10/10* stars
I have to say first, that I own every Lisa Oliver book published on Amazon. I also love the storyline of this series with JP Sayle. However, I am done with characters being deliberately mean for what reason, I don't know. I almost didn't recognize Alexi from the first book. He said some awful things to Victor for no reason, maybe they were trying to show Victor growing past middle child issues, but there has to be a better way. But the most grievous issue, partner on partner violence. I have no idea why any author thinks that it is not only ok for one character to hit his mate in the face hard enough to bruise it, but also have another character smirk about it. Paranormal or not, male/male couple or not, violence is never ok between partners. This seems to be a trend in this genre and I want nothing to do with it. Through every paranormal mating in this genre, the most common theme of true mates is they can't hurt each other and they are protective. Yet hitting a mate in the face is the exact opposite of that, I don't care how macho you are, it is never ok.
I don't know if I can continue to support authors who think this is ok. Especially this author, who ends their notes to readers, hug the ones you love, not punch the ones you love.
I want to ask these authors, how would you feel if the partner of one of your children punched them in the face, left a bruise, and your other child smirked about it? Is that what you want to promote? Is that what you condone?
Victor is the second book in the Tentacle Tales Universe and it's another knockout!
I sometimes worry about series cause they can either get better, or go down hill. This series? It just keeps getting better! In my review for Alexi I said one of the downfalls I had was the lack of talking about Kraken's reproductive systems, that was cleared up in this book.
The characters were really great, I absolutely loved Victor and Azim they are my favorite by far! I loved that Azim was still able to make jokes and enjoy Victor's love. I'm so intrigued by the plot of this series, I just can't get enough.
I recommend this book if you want to see a Kraken and a vampire becoming mates. Through hardships and abuse they still were able to find love.
*I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.*
Loving this series and am now binge-reading/listening to them. Seriously you would not be able to tell two authors have written this book, as it seems so well written. I would highly recommend it.
I loved the characters and the relationship between Victor and his mate Azim. The story was good and kept me involved throughout. I would recommend it to anyone who likes shifter romance.
The narration by Kevin Earlywine was on-point; his different voices made it easy to follow the story. I did speed up the audio to 1.25 on audible, which is typical for me.
Victor Tangled Tentacles, Book 2 By: JP Sayle, Lisa Oliver Narrated by: Kevin Earlywine Series: Tangled Tentacles, Book 2 Length: 5 hrs and 17 mins
❤❤❤❤❤ Overall 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration 📚📚📚📚📚 Story Read at 1.25 speed on Audible
The first book was great. I started the second one and something fell apart... The biggest disappointment for me is the relationship between the brothers. In the first book, Alexi is the best, takes care of his brothers, etc., and in the second book, he is suddenly presented as a slightly thoughtless asshole, with no regard for the feelings of his brother and his brother mate's. Also, Victor is somewhat portrayed as an insecure, panicky guy who only focuses on what unfortunate fate has befallen him and his mate (I DO KNOW that abuse is not something that you should laugh at OR NOT TREAT seriously but here it is the main concept and Victor is mostly focused on his little, poor mate). So yeah... The series goes on-hold...
This is Book #2 of TANGLED TENTACLES. The combination of JP SAYLE and LISA OLIVER is a MAGNIFICENT match made in talented Author heaven. These two are entertaining and write beautifully together!!! Victor has been trying to save his mate Azim. This gift from the powers that be must recover so they can complete the mating bond. I really fell in love with this couple. Victor is so much more than I imagined. This is such a great escape from times we find ourselves living in. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS MAGNIFICENT TANGLED TENTACLES SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first 25%-30% of the book was whiney and pathetic. Frankly I thought Victor or Azim was smarter than a bowl of fruit; the first part of the book had me believing otherwise. Neither one thought to use a phone text or computer keyboard, A pencil, or a finger in the sand that is part of the beach of the ISLAND they were on in order to communicate? Not one brother could reach out mentally to brainstorm options?
The rest of the book was just okay, as it actually focused too much on everyone else other than Victor and Azim.
The ending of the book was the beginning of porn as we get introduced to the next book.
4.5 Well this was utterly adorable. Victor showed the maturity of his age and waited on his partner the whole time. Their communication was just lovely and showed true affection. The patience Victor had for Azim was perfect because it was natural to his character. Some steam and there is mpreg in this book but not from the main pairing. The plot from the previous book continues and is mostly solved. I really liked everything about it. My 0.5 off is because the little bait and switch at the end was a little jarring to me. I was expecting a hint at a different pairing to the situation I got
Victor is the second book in the series and I recommend you start with Alexei. In this book Victor saved his mate Azim. He took Azim to his island where he can heal. Unfortunately that didn’t work. After consulting with his brothers he brought him to his house. I loved it and this is a great collaboration between two great authors. Lots of heat between the MCs and some action where they needed to find who took Azim in the first place. Looking forward to reading Todd’s book.
I put in a order for this book right after finishing the first book. I believe that speaks for its. This story follows Victor and his newly found mate Azim who is a vampire. I was intrigued by this being a vampire/ kraken pairing, and I just got to say, I loved it. Once again this book deals with some tough subject matter, such as abuse, kidnapping, torture, while still feeling like a happy book. I will be ordering the third book this week.
I liked both main leads, the way they supported each other was really sweet. I don't know how the authors could write a book that had such a dark theme and such suffering but still be able to make the romance so sweet and healing. I'm really curious about what's happening with Markov but the next book is about Todd and that epilogue left me stunned... Now I want to know what's up with that..
I liked the characters of Victor and Azim their battle and story was strong and emotional. We learn more about krakens and their mates. I am not loving Alexi’s character so hope he will redeem himself in the next book.
This second book had a few more giggles in it, not from the plot but from the character's personalities and their interactions. The overall arc continues, I think? Anyway, I am looking forward to next book in srries
This series is good! I think krakens are one of my new favorite mythic shifter species. Victor and Azim are perfect. I also love the side notes with Alexi and Danik. This family is magical and I love it!
This book was better than the first with the story developing a bit more. I liked how all the characters were in this one and we got to hear more about the MCs from the first book. I’m excited to get Todd’s story next.
2.5+ stars - I continued this series because even though the first instalment wasn't a quality work, it was entertaining and simple and that's exactly what I needed. A simple, short and not horrible read.
Kraken + vampire? Victor is kind of a classic middle child, the overall plot thickens, there is much drama in the family. This might be the weakest of the bunch, as it relies on a great deal of non-communication, and not just between Victor and Azim.
