Roommates #5

Wood Worked

Rate this book
I’m stuck in bed with nothing to do but the three gorgeous brothers who insist on taking care of me.

After I break my leg saving a child, a very grateful hot single dad invites me to recover at the home he shares with his equally hot brothers. There’s no way I can climb the stairs to my new apartment, so what can I do but accept?

The three men use every tool at their disposal to help me feel better. They’re all different, but I’m drawn to each in spite of myself.

Spencer, the devoted father, treats me like a queen. The chemistry between us is off the charts, but could I be mistaking his gratitude for desire?

Raphael uses his fitness knowledge to help me with my physical therapy. His touch drives me wild, but there’s something from his past holding him back.

Last is Flynn, the grumpy, reclusive wood worker who’s skilled at using his massive tools. At first, he keeps his distance, but he always knows exactly what I need.

My slow recuperation gives me time to get to know these amazing men who make me feel alive in ways I never thought possible. But once I’m on my feet again, I have a choice to make. Should I stay with this newfound family or return to the career path I thought I wanted?

WOOD WORKED is a single dad reverse harem romance with a happy ever after ending. It's part of the Roommates series of standalone novels with characters who continue to make appearances.

3.3 stars.
This was cute, and really sweet.
The way they all stepped up to help her after she got hurt saving Spencer’s kid was so sweet to read.
And that’s mostly what this book consisted of, the tension that arose during the time they had to help her move around while her leg and ribs healed.

There was a tiny bit of OW drama at the end that threatened to really wreck things for them, but it was dealt with and pushed aside, basically immediately. So that wasn’t some big problem for them to deal with like it seemed it would be.

And then the story just kind of tapered off.
We don’t really get to see how they progressed after deciding to give things a chance. It seems like they just continued as they started, two of the guys living in one house with the kids and Alyssa, while one lives in his own house next door. And not telling the kids or anyone around them. So that was pretty disappointing. I much prefer when they figure out a way to all live together and be open about their relationships, even if it’s not entirely realistic to the situation. Who comes to RH books for the realism anyway? Lol.

Then the sex. What little we got was hot, but this author seems to have a habit of leaving things out.
We only got a couple scenes, and only one scene where something more than oral was happening.
That time was the last and we only got one fucking her while she gave another oral and the last one gave her oral. So only one of them actually took things all the way on page. SO disappointing. If I wanted to read about only one man with one woman I sure as fuck wouldn’t be reading reverse harems.
It was just majorly dissatisfying.

I liked the story and all of the characters, it’s just that the way the author left things felt really unfinished.

This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author that it won’t be the last. She has world developed characters and her storyline is wonderful, entertaining and intriguing. Alyssa is a young woman that just moved to Cajun country from Colorado for a new job and say he’s a young boy on her first couple days in town from being hit by car which in turn she gets hit by the car herself. She’s the town hero because she saved the principal‘s son. Now she can’t get up to her third story apartment with her broken leg so she is in the home of three gorgeous men that are waiting on her hand and foot. Throw in to adorable kids, a Nana next-door, puppies and a treehouse and you have a fantastic book. Life has thrown a lot of curve balls at Alyssa but dating three men at once is the ultimate one. Will it all be smooth sailing for them?

This book has all the feels.

Alyssa just moved to Lake Boise from Colorado for a job at Zee Tech it was her first day and she was on her way home. She pulled over by a park on the phone with her friend. A child was running after the kite and a car was coming she saved the child but was hit. Waking up in the hospital she meets Spencer the father of the boy she saved. She has a cast on her leg, bruised ribs and a sprained arm. She moves in with Spencer and Raphael’s his brother in law and the kids. Flynn lives next door Spencer’s brother. As she is healing things start heating up with the men. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing Book. The storyline and character development were top notch.

This was a wonderful romance for some fab characters. I love how their relationship unfolded at a reasonable pace, even though they had great chemistry, and that there really was not much in the drama and angst department. With lots of feelings, some humour and such a sweet and steamy romance, this was a real page turner for me ;D

The book was good but it missed the mark for me.

It starts off really slow. The guys are taking care of Alyssa as she recovers, and I feel like it could have been a bit more interesting, but everything was really mundane, if that makes sense? Or maybe I want to say that the dialogue didn’t really add much to the story or progressing it.

All there seems to be in the beginning are basic conversations between characters, the day to day events as Alyssa beings to heal, and then some telling and not showing. They’ve barely spent any time together, so the possibility of forming a connection isn’t there at the moment.

We don’t really get anything from Flynn until about 45% in the book, and his first POV is admiring another woman, and I guess I wasn’t a fan because he doesn’t give a single thought about Alyssa this far into the book and that’s because there’s been zero time for a connection to form. I just don’t get how I’m almost halfway through a romance book and there’s been really nothing involving romance, except for how attractive Alyssa thinks the guys are. I love a good slow burn, but I don’t think I’d classify this as one.

This is a reverse harem but these men have never been a part of something like that. Her friend tells her she needs to communicate what she wants with them. Raphael is already hurt and then she gets with Flynn before communicating anything. I feel like when it domes to Reverse Harems if the dynamic is not already established by the men it needs to be discussed sooner rather than at the end especially if feelings are involved to avoid hurt feelings and everything. Plus it just feels wrong to me, I don’t know that’s just me.

DNF @ 20%. The FMC is extremely naive and thinks that moving home after a horrible accident that leaves her with a sprained wrist, bruised ribs, and one leg in a cast would be considered "a defeat." She's 22 or 23, fresh out of college, and on day 1 of a new job in a new city. If there's any time to go back home to recover, it's now. She literally hadn't even unpacked yet. The guys take turns staying in her hospital room with her as if somehow that would fly when it's obvious they don't know her and she hasn't given her consent for them to camp out, despite the fact she saved the kid of one of them. Then she immediately moves in with them so they can help take care of her as if this makes more sense than going home to recover with family. The last straw was when one of the men said "This sight of her thick cast killed me every time. It looked so heavy, clunky, and uncomfortable—especially since she was a slender young woman who didn’t weigh that much to begin with." pg 58. After reading other reviews, it looks like this is a slower burn with little spice so I am putting it down for now. May still check out the author to see other works but this plot/story just isn't for me.

Alyssa (FMC) has popped up briefly in previous books in this series but Wood Worked focuses on her. A new job in a new town doesnt work out according to plan whens he saves a little boy - Lucas from getting knocked down and ends up getting really hurt in the process. Which in turn leads her being given an opportunity of staying and being taken care of by Luca's father - Spencer, his brother - Flynn and brother in law - Raphael. Who are genuinely sweet, caring but have had a lot of tragedy happen their lives. For me the kids - Lucas and Charlotte and what made this heartwarming for me. Im enjoying reading each book ive read in this series so far and im looking forward to getting my hands on more in the future

*Spoilers* Alyssa just finished the first day of her new job at Zee Tech, a start up company in Lake Boise. When she speaks to her friend sitting in the car outside of a park and observes a happy seeoming family she witnesses how the boy is going to get hit by a car and saves him, getting severly hurt in this process. When she wakes up in the hospital the father of the boy is by her side and insists of helping her how much he can. She is new in the little town and accepts his help. She is a called a hero having saved the son of the principal. She discovers the very special family dynamic. Spencer is the father of the eight year old twins Luca and Charlotte. His brother in law Raphael lives together with them and the other uncle Flynn lives next door. The beloved wife, mother and sister died of cancer when the twins were very young. They do everything in their power to help Alyssa, even holding back their feelings, which suddenly are reappearing after such a long time. Flynn, who is the least social, stays away in the beginning having a lot of guilt. He was the one in the park when the accident happened. They all feel more than gratitude and friendship. Alyssa's best friend is in a menage relationship with her brother, so she has been in close contact with this kind of relationship (I really recommend their story!). Will they take the risk and what happens with Alyssa's life and job? How will the twins take to her?
I love the stories of Stephanie Brothers, she is the queen of menage stories. The plot and characters have so many layers and depth. I got suck into their story. Each character and relationship has its own dynamic, like cogwheels who work together. Sometimes you read menage stories where it all blurs together, but not with her stories. A no brainer for me to read them. I laughed, shed tears and the sex scenes are hot. Everyone has their own place, strength and weaknesses and in the end they make the perfect match. Such hot men and the twins you just have to love, Charlotte with her signing and Luca, so adorable! The nana of the house, there are so many special scenes in this story, just be aware, addictive!.

Alyssa has just graduated college and gotten a job across the country with a tech start up. Her first day of work goes well and she is headed back to her new apartment. On her trip she notices a kid about to fall into the road in front of a car. She runs and rescues him but is hit by a car. Alyssa ends up in the hospital with a badly broken leg, cracked ribs, and a sprained wrist. When she wakes up there is a stranger by the side of her bed. It is Spencer and he is the father of the boy he saved. His gratitude is so great that he is willing to do whatever she needs including taking her home with him while she is recovering. When Spencer can't be there, he has his brother-in-law, Raphael watching over her. Alyssa is happy for their help. She is enjoying being with Spencer's family. She learns that Spencer's brother, Flynn who lives next door but has been making himself scarce since the accident. The more time she spends with Spencer, Raphael and Flynn, the more she has dirty daydreams. However she can't pick just one.

Alyssa (h) saves a young boy, Lucas, from being hit by a car but is struck herself, suffering her multiple injuries that lead to Spencer (H), the boy's father, taking her into his family home to recover after her hospital stay. As she heals, Alyssa becomes deeply connected to Spencer, his brother-in-law Raphael, and their neighbor and Flynn, forming bonds that go beyond friendship. Alyssa struggles with her growing attraction to all three men, each of whom plays a significant role in her recovery and emotional journey. Spencer is the protective and caring father figure, Raphael provides nurturing and support, and Flynn, though initially aloof, reveals a tender side that draws Alyssa in. As she recovers, Alyssa not only heals physically but also emotionally, finding solace and connection with these men. Alyssa is faced with challenges that test their unconventional relationship and the strength of their newfound family, with Spencer, his children Lucas and Charlotte, Raphael, and Flynn. Hot and steamy RH romance, exploring love, commitment, family, challenges, healing, and non-traditional relationships.

Another fantastic story that Stephanie Brother has brought forward in this fantastic series. Alyssa has just started her new job at Zee Tech after finally graduating from university. While sitting outside of a park talking to her brother‘s girlfriend Kylie, she was watching two children in the park playing with a kite, when the kite gets away and the little boy chases after it and is about to have an accident on the road, she steps in and save the boy Lucas, but she is hit by the car instead.

Alyssa wakes up in the hospital with cracked ribs and a broken patella. Her life is one big pain well she’s recuperating, the father and the two uncles of the children, Charlotte and Lucas. Spencer, Flynn and Raphael all band together to help her Recuperate from her accident. What starts off as doing their best to make her life better turns into a love that brings them all together and a happily ever after for all involved.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.

Stephanie Brother Has Knocked It Out Of The Park Again with Wood Worked

I absolutely loved this book! I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Stephanie Brother & reverse harem romance.
I really enjoyed how quickly you become immersed in the story of Alyssa, Spencer, Raphael & Flynn.
Alyssa has just moved to the small town & becomes famous when she saves a little boys life. The dad Spencer offers for her to recover at his house which he shares with his brother & brother in law.
Whilst Alyssa is recuperating you are taken on a ride which you don't want to end. The heat & sexual chemistry building between the characters is intense but you also get a fantastic story to go with it.
Will Alyssa, Spencer, Raphael & Flynn get there HEA or will jealousy from an outside source destroy it all?
This book will be added to my already large Stephanie Brother collection.
I can't wait for the next book to come out.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet meet Alyssa, Raphael, Spencer, & Flynn. When this book opens Alyssa has just started a new job and is talking with her brother's girlfriend and one of her best friends about it. When she sees a car coming and a little boy who is about to fall directly into its path. What happens next is something Alyssa never expected. Spencer the boy's father, Flynn the boy's uncle, finally Raphael the boy's other uncle. They have all lived and helped with the kids since Spencer lost his wife. There is something about this foursome that has them wanting more than all just being in a house together. Can they find that special something before it is time for Alyssa to go back to her real life or will this all have just been a dream?

Amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I really wanted to love with book, but it fell short for me. The premise of the book was good. Alyssa was introduced in the previous book of this series as Mason’s younger sister. She graduated and moved to Louisiana for work, but on her first day jumps in front of car to save a boy. The boy’s father (Spencer), takes on the responsibility of her recovery and invites her to stay with him, his kids, and his brother-in-law. I LOVED the kids- Charlotte and Lucas. Charlotte is deaf and I really enjoyed how they handled her disability. I love the use of sign language between the characters.

Unfortunately, I didn’t feel the chemistry between Alyssa and Spencer’s brother, Flynn. He was a jerk for most of the book and then when they finally got together… he was still a jerk! Yet, he is the one who says “I love you” first?! Nah, I don’t buy that for a second.

Wood Worked
By Stephanie Brother
Main Characters: Alyssa, Spencer, Raphael, and Flynn
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
This is only the 4th book I have read and reviewed by Stephanie Brother and they have all been 5 stars. I loved every character in this story. Alyssa starts a new job in a new state ad manages to be in the right place at the right time to save a boy. In doing so, she ends up in the hospital. Turns out that in a small southern town she becomes a hero. Then 3 men come to her rescue when she finds she needs help. The boy's father, his brother-in-law, and Flynn come to love her. I loved Flynn's character the most and he was the most assertive, and outspoken of the 3 men. There are a lot of good feelings, sex, and good chemistry in this story.

Chapter 9 is my favourite chapter in this book 📚 so far. I would like to have bathroom like in this book with the handles and bath and children toys and shower 🚿 and stuff put in for me if I had hurt myself like Alyssa had in the book 📚 while saving the little boy from the road when he was playing with his sister Charlotte and the kite in the local park.😃. I liked the 3 mem in this book 📚 in the first place and I liked Alyssa straight away too. I liked chapter 10 about the shower 🚿 and Alyssa and her men to be Stephen and Flynn and Rafe. I liked the idea of shower 🚿 handle. Alyssa fancyed a early night 🌃 and so did I? I felt sorry for Alyssa me with sore right hip and right knee and triedness. Maybe I went to be like Alyssa today. I liked the chapter 's about the puppies very much. I would like a puppy in my house again. I miss puppies.
I loved chapters 19 to 24 and fort my boyfriend should this book and my physio too. Maybe together. I don't if there two men would to together put went them together some how. I enjoyed reading this book 📚 very much. I kept finding out that I could put the book 📚 too.

We know from the start that Alyssa gets hurt when she's saving a child. I didn't know how Alyssa hadn't burst into tears when she learned just how serious her injuries were. I would have been crying buckets, and I did, for her. My favorite part was when Alyssa is telling Spencer, Flynn, and Raphael what she loves about each of them. I also really enjoyed reading the part when Alyssa stands up to the woman who wants the men's affections. If there was anyone who could handle more than one persistent ex, it would be Alyssa. And I kind of wish there had been - there was mention of one of them having a persistent ex-girlfriend. I was a little disappointed that she didn't make it into the storyline because that would have been interesting to read. I reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Alyssa moves to a new town for a fresh start and new job after college. On her way home after her first day she stops to take a phone call from a friend, and ends up saving a child from being hit by a car, only to get hit and injured herself. Feeling thankful, she is taken in by the child's father and his brother and brother in law where they help her recover. This was a slow burn RH romance as Alyssa was healing she learned not only about the child she saved and his twin sister, but also about the new men in her life as they each had their own way of taking care of her. This was another hit in this series and quite possibly my favorite as it was a slow burn where you were able to watch the characters develop and their feelings grow for each other.

This is another great reverse harem book by Stephanie Brother! Alyssa saves a little boy from being hit by a car only to take the brunt of the impact, bruising her ribs and breaking her leg. Being new in town to start her first job out of college, Alyssa has no one near by to help her. The boy’s father, Spencer, insists she stay with him, his brother Flynn and his brother-in-law Raphael. With no order choice, she accepts the offer. A she get closer to the three men she realizes she has feelings for all three and the men have feelings for her. As they experiment with their new relationship, it may cause waves in their professional lives. Great book with great characters. Sexy, funny and feel good book.

Alyssa just moved to the area for a new job. She stops by a park to talk to her friend on the phone and sees a child running after a kite. She runs after him because he is heading towards a car. When she wakes up, she learns that she got hit by the car saving the child. HIs father and uncle want her to come stay with them while she recovers. Flynn is Spencer and Rapheal's neighbor. Sparks fly between the four of them and soon things are heating up between them while Alyssa is staying with them. Will this turn into something more?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. It's a book that any book lover would enjoy.

I love the roommates series and this is another great addition. Alyssa has just moved to Lake Boise, LA when she ends up saving Lucas the young son of Spencer. In the process she gets hurt and needs assistance. So Spencer moves her into his house that he shares with his 2 kids and brother in law Raphael. His brother Flynn lives next door. Due to her situation she is able to get to know the guys before they ever get intimate and I loved that it gave us a little more depth to them. Each man is interesting and I love seeing them with Alyssa. They were just what she needed along with Spencer's twins Charlotte and Lucas.

loved it!

I’ve been not so patiently waiting for this book to be resorted and it didn’t disappoint.

Alyssa is the half sister of Mason from the previous book in this series. She’s moved away to start her first job in a new town. On her first day there she saves the son of the local headmaster and sustains some pretty bad injuries in the process. She soon finds herself living with and being cared for by three gorgeous men.

I loved the premise of this book and Alyssa was very likeable. The supporting characters were great and I enjoyed the story so much. The teaser for the next book has me wishing the summer away for the release date!

Alyssa saves a young boy from being hit by a car and gets hit herself. A gorgeous man looks after her at the scene. Now she is being taken care of by three gorgeous men and two adorable children. A show with a huge cast on her leg? I can see problems ahead. Puppies as a distraction. A friend in bed with her. A good sleep. Another seriously hot bed companion. Get on a horse? You are joking! Half naked in a treehouse. Caught. A meeting. A date for four. Learning to sign. Helping Nana. A new plan. Lots of loving. This book was absolutely freaking fantastic. Who would not want to be looked after by three hot men. Let alone two adorable twins.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. It has been a while since I have read one of Stephanie's books and I really enjoyed this one. Alyssa's selfless act brings her friendship and love in the end. I thought each man had a great personality that gave her something she needed. And let's not forget Lucas either. Plenty of chemistry between them but her healing is important to them. Because of this some of the story is slower than other parts but it didn't keep me from liking their story.

I’ve read pretty much every book by Stephanie Brother, and I really enjoyed that this story was a little different. It felt so natural how the relationship developed, and how their love grew. It was pretty low drama and low angst, while still having good emotional draw and plenty of feelings. I loved the characters, the story, the slow build of steam, the humor, and the HEA. This is a great addition to the authors catalog, and I recommend it and her other works as well. I’ve already pre-ordered all her upcoming novels.

Fun, steamy, feel good romance.

I really enjoyed this story about Alyssa and her three gorgeous protective men. It had a delicious slow build as we got to know the characters better, ultimately ending up with steamy and emotional chemistry. The HFN ending was lovely, though left the potential future difficulties inherent in their relationship uncovered. This book was a lovely feel good read - I couldn't put it down.

Alyssa is seriously injured rescuing a little boy from being struck by a car. While under the care of the father and uncle, Alyssa develops feelings for them as well as another uncle.

The story is a little slow going. Guess that could be attributed to Alyssa's long recovery and the development of their feelings wasn't instantaneous. The one little bit of excitement is when Lauren tries to blackmail them but it was quickly taken care of so wasn't a major thing in the story. I didn't really "feel" the story. Nice but not one that I would return to.

I really enjoyed this reverse harem romance. Alyssa is injured when she saves a little boy, and his father Spencer takes her home to take care of her. Not only does he dote on her, his brother-in-law Raphael and his brother Flynn also takes on caretaking duties. The chemistry Alyssa feels for the men, is reciprocated, and they will need to see whether this relationship will work. I found this story to be fun, steamy hot and just entertaining.
