When a victim escapes from a serial killer and has a terrifying tale to tell, FBI Special Agent—and psychic medium—Carly See must race to stop him before he claims his next victim. But the images Carly receives from the other side are too dark and disturbing, and all seem to lead to only one baffling conclusion: they must somehow be coming from the killer himself.
FBI Special Agent Carly See, a star in the elite BAU unit, hides a terrible secret: she can speak with the dead. The murder of her sister, still unsolved, plunged her life into grief and awakened a new power within her. All of it feels like a curse—until Carly realizes she can harness her new skills to solve cases. But her abilities are unreliable, and Carly must use her brilliant mind to complete the puzzle—all while struggling to keep her secret from her colleagues.
This killer, though, is always one step ahead, and Carly herself, leading the investigation, may not be as safe as she seems. In this game of cat and mouse, it will be a race to figure out what these victims have in common—and who is next on the killer’s list.

Carly has been struggling with her personal abilities and how people react when they get to know about it. To top it all she now has been given a rookie to train and she will have to cover her abilities even more. It's an unusual case, in a small town and with a sheriff with very peculiar traits. It's a good story with quite a few twists and turns that I'm sure will get you hooked. I thank the author for the ARC.
I thought No Way Up by Rylie Dark was good if you like fast-paced thrillers with a psychological edge. It pulled me in and didn’t let up. The story follows FBI agent Carly See, and what makes it different from a normal crime thriller is that she can communicate with the dead. That sounds like it would make things easier for her, but it makes everything more confusing and unsettling because she can’t always trust what she’s seeing or feeling. One thing I liked a lot was the pacing. The chapters are short and move the story forward, so it’s hard to stop reading once you get into it. There’s always tension, and it keeps you guessing about the killer and what’s happening. It didn’t feel predictable, which is important to me because a lot of thrillers can feel repetitive. I also liked Carly as a character. She doesn’t feel invincible or perfect. She has emotional depth, and her abilities don’t solve everything for her. If anything, they make her more vulnerable. That made her feel more real and made the stakes feel higher. The writing itself is straightforward and easy to read. It’s not poetic or complicated, but that works in its favor because it keeps the focus on the suspense and the story. It’s more about the tension and the psychological aspect than fancy writing. I’d say it’s a solid thriller. It’s intense, emotional, and keeps you engaged the whole time. It’s good if you like crime stories mixed with a supernatural element, and if you enjoy trying to figure things out alongside the main character.
## Meh, not that good. Frankly, I felt disappointed. This coyote howling over and over again became annoying. Half animal, half human? And too many people now know about Carly's abilities which makes this even more far fetched. Her mom & dad, her boss, her old partner Lyle, her new partner Rosa, the bad guy "coyote", even her ex boyfriend Mark. And Mark's relationship is so bizarre in regards to Carly's sister. He seems to care more about her than Carly. I don't think I'll be buying the 6th book. Carly needed to be more likeable for me to care about her.
I enjoy a bit of paranormal if it adds to the story and is believable. This really added to the story in my opinion. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
This series still fresh and the plots interesting. The books are hard to put down and easily read in a single sitting. The characters are very well developed and more insight into their personalities with each book. Definitely a series worth reading.
