This picture book shares the lightly-fictionalized tale of real King George VI, who was forced to overcome significant physical and relational obstacles at an early age. Later, we see him thrust into a position of sudden leadership during a time of terrible global crisis. Despite his personal feelings and great fear, King George VI led his people through dark times with bravery, compassion, and poise.
This is an excellent way to share this inspiring slice of history with young readers.
This is a charming book telling the story of George VI in rhyme which makes it very readable for children. It brings some history to life, and hopefully will get children interested in the British royalty. The book is beautifully set out and the illustrations are delightful and very colourful.
