Book Two of The Girl is brought to you by Shai August who transforms the Three Little Pigs into Tame The Girl: Three Boars and a Wolf.
She is a detective with a nose for trouble.
They are three brothers with a nose for her.
Zetta Major is in the proverbial dog house at work, but she doesn't exactly jump at the chance to take a crucial case that could see her back into the good graces of the Chief of Police.
Construction magnates the Porcus Brothers need the police to solve a crime that is going to cost them millions if discovered, and they demand the best detective on the Kansas City Police force.
Will Zetta be able to escape the attentions of the Porcus Brothers? Can she solve the crime before the perpertrator escalates their reign of terror?
Shai August is a country girl with a big imagination, more than a touch of wanderlust and a never-ending desire to live in both an RV traveling the world and a library. Her love language is words of affirmations followed by books, bacon and bourbon. She’s a born and bred Louisiana native, but is currently doing an impression of a yellow rose of Texas. She is fluent in English, sarcasm and memes. Her goal is to write fast paced; character driven paranormal fiction for women of color. She’s found all over the internet and social media as @ShaiAugust (Facebook,Instagram, Pinterest (author assumes no responsibility for your falling into her Pinterest board traps), Twitter, etc.) feel free to follow and start any kind of conversation with her.
This second book in the series was written by Shai August. I have read other books by Ms. August and the same issues that I found in those books happened in this one.
This is a mash up, retailing of little red riding hood and the three little pigs. It was an interesting, quick, fun read but there are some things that are lacking. I find that the author will leave out details that are pertinent to the story, or mix them up. For example names will change or situations will be different later in the book as the characters recall them. Also Miss August does have grammar issues when she writes. It seems like every time I write a review on one of her books I suggest that she have beta readers and editors read her copy before she publishes. She has a great imagination; her execution just struggles sometimes.
This is the second book in a series by Shai August. This was my first book I've read by this author. This story is a take on the "Three Little Pigs" fairytale. This story is about wolf shifter Zetta Major, a homicide detective who is in the doghouse around the precinct and was transferred to Robbery is given a case from the City Council. The case involved boar shifters Porcus brothers, Lucio, Horacio, and Rigoberto who were owners of the Boarhead Construction. Porcus brothers are the largest employees in the city and state. The case involved their building disappearing, so she went to investigate meeting the three brothers at the site. What occurs is an instant-love reverse harem story with a touch of mystery of who stole and cast a spell to disguise the building's disappearance. The characters depicted were engaging (I especially liked the sassy Zetta) and I enjoyed reading the romantic mystery paranormal story that I volunteer to read and review.
This book is excellent. The book is well written and the characters and story are well developed. I loved the individual character personalities and seeing their relationship dynamics grow and evolve through the book. The story was action packed and full of twists and turns. It had suspense, intrigue, emotion and hot chemistry. This is the first time I’ve read anything from this author but I will definitely be reading more of her books!! I’d highly recommend this book!!
Who would've thought that punishment would lead you to your destiny. The red witch took me by surprise I would've never guessed who she really was.Baby them boars did not come to play they came to stake their claim and build with their mate taking no prisoners. This was one heck of a ride for this destiny to come true they fought to get to their happy ending . I can't wait to see what happens in their future
This was a great spin on red riding hood. This time around the wolf wasn’t bad for no reason. She was passionate about her job and her family. Zetta was also lonely. I liked how the 3 pigs were boars, they weren’t wimpy, whinny, or scared. They were fierce, loyal and protective. Boar’s are dangerous, deadly and known to attack so I appreciated the author replacing the pigs with boars. That red was lurking.
The Porus Brothers did not waste anytime making a list, for Detective MaJor. All three have ideas of what they would like to do to Zetta Major. The clothes she ware not to their satification. The way she was being treated was fair. I was not satisfied with some parts of this story.
OUTSTANDING! I am a huge fan of Ms. Shai August's work. In my eyes she can't write nothing wrong. I Love the reverse harem books especially when a Black Woman is the main love interest. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Shai.
This was a great retelling of the three pigs. I love fated mates and these four were no exception. I also love the elements of magic in these stories. They give it a little something extra. I can’t wait to read the next story.
