Catch Me When I Fall

Rate this book
Jaslen Moss found out her husband was still up to his old tricks in the worst way possible. After being arrested with his mistress, she found the strength to finally give him his walking papers. With a f*ck love attitude, she’s focused on bossing up and building an empire of her own. You know what they say about making plans, though. When she least expects it, love comes looking for her.

Former stripper, Kael Hoover, never expected to be living as a full-time single father but he was proud of the way he changed his life for his five-year-old daughter Brooke. A chance encounter brings the two together. When they start to fall, they both find themselves struggling with trusting the other to catch them.

When Jaslen’s ex-husband comes along and drops a bombshell that could rip the two apart, the pair is tasked with finding out if love is worth the risk.

I'm utterly befuddled at the direction this author went in with this storyline. It wasn't developed very well and, often times, there were disconnects between the characters and the dialogue. For example, when Kael charged Jaslen up about meeting up with her ex-husband, she told him they were only discussing his health issues. That's not true. They discussed Ebony getting out of jail. Jeff's heath issues didn't come up until the next chapter which, had me completely confused because it was never brought up. I had to go back and reread that part of the book to make sure I didn't miss anything. Kael didn't know what he wanted. One minute he thinks Jaslen is a thot who cruises the clubs lookin' for a husband and the next he's in love and wants a relationship. Sir, make up your mind. The author couldn't remember her characters names. When Kael's mama was in the car accident, her name was Jackie but, when he took Jaslen to meet her, mama's name changed to Hellen. How do you not remember what you wrote?!!! That whole situation with Jeff was just ludicrous. Jaslen allowed her ex to move in with her because, she felt duty bound to play nurse maid to a man who dogged her out their entire marriage. Totally disregarding the fact that she’s in a whole relationship and not taking Kael's feelings into consideration. Then, Jaslen has the audacity to get pissed off when Kael gets pissed off because, she starts dropping the ball and giving their relationship the bare minimum. All of this transpires and, yet, Kael is the one to apologize. Not once is Jaslen ever held accountable for her actions nor does she apologize for the things she did. That really pissed me off. There was absolutely no reason for Kael to apologized because, he did nothing wrong. Needless to say, I did NOT like Jaslen. Catch Me When I Fall was a hot discombobulated mess. The storyline was all over the place, there was zero character development, and the writing was not up to par. This will, more than likely, be my last book by this author.

I Loved This Story…..There were a few errors..in an early chapter Kael’s mother’s name was Jackie and later when she finally met Jaslin her name was Hellen…There were a few other typos and grammatical errors….BUT, I Got the jus of the story. Two people Jaslin & Kael who weren’t looking for love, just some fun accidentally fell in love….this really was a good Five star story.

Whew! This read took me some places y'all! That first sentence, I was like whaaaaaat? 😂 Awww, it's about to be some ish! I commend Jaslen for finally walking away from Jeff's trifling ass! She was enjoying her freedom, when she meets Kael Hoover! Kael, a reformed bad boy, was working hard to make a life for himself and his baby girl. The attraction between Jaslen and Kael was immediate and the chemistry was hot as hell! They were both only looking for a good time, but the universe had other plans! Kael realized that he found a good thing and was all in, but Jaslen was on the fence. After all that she had been through with Jeff, she didn't know if she could trust herself in another relationship! I loved the relationship that Kael and Jaslen quickly built, and the way Jaslen bonded with Brooke was beautiful! Then Jaslen bumped her damn head! She is so much better than me! Any ex, especially an ex-husband can't ask me for ish! The audacity of Jeff to ask Jaslen to help him out, and she agreed to that mess! I guess my heart is not set-up like that, cause you cross me like Jeff did Jaslen hmmm! He would get not one minute of my time! Ughhhhh....... 😡 I could not blame Kael at all for his reaction, cause she was trippin'! Glad they got everything straightened out, as they were so good together. 👍👍👍

Romance at its best!!

This was such a good book. Jaslen went through so much with her cheating ex. She definitely deserved a happily ever after. Kael came in all smooth and swept her off her feet. I loved their relationship together. That ending was just, chef kiss.

enjoyable read

Jaslen and Kael, met unconventionally because Kael needed help with his little girls hair. Another chance encounter and the sparks that were flying ignited. Jaslen wasn’t looking for love after being recently divorced but sometimes you can’t deny magnetism, even when you try. I loved how Kael’s mom supported him and his fatherhood journey but still held him accountable and made him understand he had to take the lead sometimes. Now, I was side eyeing Jaslen when it came to helping out her ex. I have a big heart but I would have passed on that. Yeah, it was a good deed but still. Other than that I enjoyed the story.

it was a good story

My first time ready a book by this author. The storyline was good I just didn’t like how inconsiderate Jazz was. If it was Karl doing all that we would still be bashing him all in the comments. Great book to start a discussion. I’ll purchase another book by this author

So good!

I loved this read from author Tatum James. Kael and Jaslen were perfect for each other but both initially had too many wrong assumptions about the other to see it. Thank God for Brooke. She seemed to keep leading them back together. That restaurant bathroom scene!! 🔥🔥 Jaslen is a better woman that me because that ex? He would have had to stay where he was. I completely understood why Kael was threatened by that situation. Definitely a good read. I'm interested to see if Jade will get a story.

Catch Me

I loved how Kael a s Jaslen ended up together. Most times the best relationships blossom out of meeting randomly. They both had their hearts guarded feeling like they didn't want to experience pain again. They both have a heart of gold but scared to get hurt. But I also was like girl what is your problem, you got the whole bin of snacks and some but you chance it by tempting to sneak a cookie....but the way Kael snatched her ass up in that restaurant got me a little excited I can honestly say.

A lovely story

The story was lovely, a nice treat. Jaslen did not deserve the shady hand her husband dealt her. In time, I felt confident she would find her stride and the person meant for her. Kael was cool from the start, and I was overjoyed with the outcome he willed to happen. I wasn't always happy with Jaslen's free-spirited ways. I was delighted when she chose to accept the inevitable.

Catch Me

Jaslen had a heart of gold. Jeff didn’t deserve her and her kindness. Kael was smitten by Jazz quickly and it was funny hearing his thoughts as he fell harder and harder for her. Great read!

Two thumbs up!

I ended this book with heart eyes 😍! I did want to shake Jaslen a number of times, but at the end, I realized she had a good heart. I could definitely see some days she should have channeled some of her inner Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Kael and Brooke, loved them and who can turn down a cute five year old.

This is a must read if you are looking for a sexy lead character who knows how to do a little something, something.

With a broken heart and a new lease on life…Newly single Jaslen Moss is focused on building her empire. With trust issues and a young impressionable daughter…Former stripper Kael Hoover is dedicated to being the best full-time father he can be. Jaslen is cute and sassy with a smart mouth. Kael is arrogant and persistent but oh so fine! When fate brings them together, can either fully trust the other with their delicate heart?

This was my first time reading Author Tatum James’ work and most definitely not my last. I loved the refreshing storyline. From the very beginning, “Catch Me When I Fall” grabs you and doesn’t let go. Some of the characters’ emotions and actions felt so real and relatable that I found myself pondering how I might have reacted. And the ending was EVERYTHING! Readers… Do yourself a favor, 1-Click NOW and read what all of my hype is about!

Amazing Read

Keal stumbling into Jaslen's shop with Brooke was the best thing for the three of them. Jaslen was not feeling his attitude about doing his daughter's hair, but couldn't resist Brooke. Karl seeing Jaslen in the club was the and ending up at her house changed things. They both grew feelings fast and didn't know how to act on them. Eventually, they had to be honest and ended up happily in love after trials. I loved this book. Job well done!

Finding Your Happy

Jaslyn was living her best life after a failed marriage; Kael was raising his daughter as a single father. Neither of them were looking for a relationship after their history. But Cupid had other plans….well, at least hoping the bow would hit their hearts because both of them were stubborn as crap!

Good

A good read with some drama, secrets, betrayal and new love. A second chance at love and happiness was all they needed. Even though their road was a little bumpy. They made it work and grew as a family. A cute read.

It was a pretty good read. People are different in so many ways but the one way we are the same is our desire to be loved.

Loved everything about this. From their first encounter between the two main characters Ik I was going to love this. This was straight to point and sweet. Loved how family oriented they were with the little family that they did have. This is my 2nd book by Tatum and I can’t wait to read more.

It takes just one time....

After reading "Blood Stained Roses" I wanted the ladies that didn't find love in that book to have it and abundantly. I was glad that Jaslen was able to find unconditional love through Kael. She deserved it after Jeff her ex-husband tapped all over her heart and trust. It took only one night of intimacy with Kael and Jaslen was "hooked, lined, and sunk." Brooke was an added piece of Kael that Jaslen couldn't refuse. She squirmed her way into Jaslen's heart. Brooke was the child that introduced Jaslen to motherhood. The three of them created an instant family. At one point, things were getting shaky when Jeff started playing his games again. I was glad Jaslen was able to help but saw right through his facade. Kael and Jaslen both had to work on their trust issues but together after a little time apart they conquered that hurdle.

This is a magnificent read that I am glad was written after "Blood Stained Roses." You will fall in love with little miss Brooke. You will also respect Kael's mother for the role she played in Brooke's life. His mother stepped in at a time when Kael wasn't quite ready to be a parent. This book makes two of the four ladies in the original book that has found love. Jade and Ebony need to be found by their "forever." I would love to read more on Alex and his love interest as well. Well, job Ms. James I will be anticipating whoever finds love next.

It had potential *Spoilers*

This story had potential but seems like details were missing. I was lost at the club scene where all of a sudden it was "your place or mine".. Nothing led to that. I didn't like how Kael snatched Jas up at the restaurant when she was having dinner with TJ, that seemed a bit abusive. Then the scene in the bathroom was too much IMO. They knew each other like 2-3 weeks and it was I love you so much ?! Nah. Then she feels like she has to help the ex husband when he cheated on her but didn't tell Karl she was meeting him and the conversation WE read wasn't the conversation she told Kael they had. That didn't add up.. Anyway as short as this story was, it took me forever to get through. Story seemed thrown together just to get a book out..

I just can’t

So let me get this straight. Jaslen goes to jail with her husband mistress, leaves him, ends up with someone way better than her cheating ex. Her ex comes back and not only does she go behind Kael back to having dinner with her ex she allows this man to move into her house because he said he was sick. Totally disregarding the fact that she’s in a whole relationship. Then she finds out she’s pregnant but doesn’t tell Kael. NOT once was Jaslen held responsible for her actions. And please explain to me why Kael went back apologizing for walking away from a woman who clearly didn’t care about how her actions was affecting him. Like make it make sense. So Jaslen was able to do whatever she wanted with no consequences? If this is how all this author stories go I will not be reading anymore.

Feels like I missed a book

It says that this can be read as a standalone but I'm so confused with some of the things happening, it feels like there were chapters missing. One minute he thinks she's a thot and the next he wants a relationship with her after having sex what 3 times??? the Jeff situation was soooooo confusing, like why did he tell his gf he was out of the country just to come to jaslen for help and who does that after a year of no contact. I don't believe that friendship line because friends don't do friends the way he did and fine time to make a mends.
