Penthold is a vast realm, consisting of the five kingdoms for which it was named and had enjoyed a longstanding peace. The Lords that came from across the oceans tried to change all that, though suffered a crushing defeat and failed in their bid to purge good from the realm. Arise, Lord Anthony, a zealot who will do what he desires most at any cost. He, therefore, plots an alternative route to rule that will take generations and begins to infiltrate the institutions of the realm.
Years later, as the plan comes to fruition, a creature warns of those who may have the power to stop the plan. The Lords send a witch from Ravenholm to kill all whom the creature speaks of. However, there are those who slip past the witch’s net and, with the help of others moving against the lord's plans, begin to fight back.
