This will now be my go-to enemies/rivals to lovers trope for bl.

First stop—I JUST LOVE HOW GAAAAAY THEY ARE. YOU KNOW? THE GOOSE BUTT AND EVERYTHING!! AND JANOME SENSEI JUST DRAWS THE PERFECT YAOI BLUSH EVERY SINGLE TIME!! I LOVE IT VERY MUCH!! YUP THE ART STYLE IS DIVINELY BEAUTIFUL. I swear, no—I hope the anime adaptation gives justice to Twilight Out of Focus art style. Also, I really love Ichi. Ever since the first volume, even as a side character, he is my favorite one. I just love how energetic and crazy and stupid and loud—and how passionate he is. He'd definitely be the embodiment of Romance itself and be the apotheosis of passion.

I'm thankful for this volume, sensei!!

4-stars because the later part kind of got draggy and dull for me? I don't know if it's the reader's block that's preventing me from appreciating such beauty because they suuuure are cute couple, though!!

Volume two follows a different couple than book one, and has a very different feel. I love how theatrical these two are, especially Jin. But through his relationship with Giichi, we see who Jin is beneath the performance. Like volume one, their shared dorm room becomes a sanctuary for them where they can connect and be true to themselves. Ultimately this was very cute, and I hope to get glimpses of them in future volumes.

I just really really like this manga! I think the relationships are fleshed out so very well and the development happens in such a gradual way that it feels so very believable ♡✧˚ ༘ ⋆｡♡˚

While I do love Mao and Hisashi more I think (they're my fave out of all the couples!), Jin and Giichi are so cute too. They probably have one of my favorite tropes/situations tho - like they're rivals but not really rivals because they actually respect each other and their craft, but every time they're together in public they can't seem to stop fighting and arguing, but then they become roommates and get to know each other and grow to be friends and then THEY FALL IN LOVE? Like what peak writing is thiiiiis.

I want to read all the volumes, so I'm going to continue! On to the next one ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

A series can surprise you when the second part outshines the first, and this one absolutely does. I went in with a soft spot for the first volume because the leads reminded me of Ash and Eiji, yet this follow-up won me over fast. The energy between the main characters feels sharper and more natural, and the way their connection builds is smoother and funnier. The tone leans more into awkward moments, light comedy, and the kind of back and forth that makes you smile without dragging the story off course.

What really works is how the relationship grows behind all the humor. The characters bounce off each other in a way that feels honest, and their personal hang ups land without getting heavy. The story takes its time letting the boys drop their guard and it pays off. You get the sense they’re figuring each other out step by step, and even the messier moments feel rooted in something real. The writing stays tight, the pacing moves with intent, and the emotional beats hit cleanly without being loud about it.

I liked the first volume for its style, but this one brings a stronger mix of heart and comedy. The characters feel more defined, the banter has more spark, and the emotional tension moves with a confidence the first book didn’t quite reach. You see both leads wrestling with their own insecurities while still pushing forward, and that gives the story a warm appeal that sticks. The humor breaks up the heavier moments without cheapening them, and the quieter scenes land with more meaning because of it. It’s the kind of sequel that builds on what worked, trims what didn’t, and leaves you wanting to see how the relationship grows from here.

И в анимето прави впечатление, че Ичикава е страхотно изграден и отлично развит персонаж. Веднага стана "моят човек", така че може и да съм заслепена от очарованието, но вярвам, че не съм далеч от истината. Последователен, неизменчив характер, реалистичен, забавно раздразнителен и... Абе, секси си е 😆 .
"Главните герои" в историята (в кавички, защото историите са няколко и всяка си има отделна двойка) може да са симпатяги, но тези тук са ТоТаЛнО КаВаИиИи!
Чакам Мако да вдъхне енергия на Джин, за да мога да коментирам в цялост и него, освен само Ичикава, но от това, което виждам, ще се справи без грешка.

Amé este tomo! Me gustó muchísimo más que Twilight outfocus. Su rivalidad? Aahhh! Pero luego como eran cuando estaban solos en la habitación! Es que no puedo con ellos. Y luego casi llegando al final me dan un trope que AMO y ya me terminaron de ganar con eso! Y bueno, el arte de Jyanome es sublime, y en este tomo siento que se sintió más la influencia del cine y todo en la forma de contar la historia, y hasta en el cómo estaba dibujado todo. Definitivamente siento que fue una obra muy redonda (para ser un tomo único). Es visualmente hermosa, y narrativamente estuvo muy bien también.

Sowohl Jyanomes Zeichen- als auch Erzählstil gehört zu meinen liebsten. Genau wie Twilight Outfocus ist Afterimage Slowmotion wunderbar einfühlsam und ruhig. Und das trotz Ichikawas extremen Temperaments.

Ichikawa ist einer von diesen Charakteren, die in mein Herz ziehen und dort einfach bleiben. Ich liebe seine leicht cholerische Ader, wenn er eine Meinung vertritt und überzeugend rausschmettert. Außerdem ist seine Begeisterungsfähigkeit, wenns um BL Manga geht, unfassbar charmant. Er ist so ein ‚erst sprechen und dann denken‘ - Typ, genau wie ich.

Sein Gegenstück, Kikuhara ist weniger gerade heraus, trägt eher eine Maske, um seine emotionale Seite zu verstecken. Und auch nach Beenden des Bandes bleibt er für mich noch etwas undurchsichtig. Auch wie er an den Punkt kommt, an dem er sich die Liebe zu Ichikawa eingesteht, ist nur teilweise nachvollziehbar.

Das und irgendwie auch das letzte Panel lassen mich mit dem Gefühl zurück, dass diese Geschichte eigentlich erst beginnt und noch gar nicht zu Ende erzählt ist.
Ich fühle mich ein wenig melancholisch nach dem Lesen, hach.

Mag der Plot auch nichts neues, innovatives sein, so ist sie auf Grund des Erzählstils dennoch etwas besonderes für mich.

Ich hab’ übrigens etwas mehr als 2 Stunden an diesem Band gelesen, weil ich mehrfach innehalten und diesen zauberhaften Zeichenstil betrachten musste.
Und da ich zum Schluss noch nicht am Ende sein wollte, hab‘ ich einfach direkt nochmal von vorn begonnen.

Afterimage Slow Motion, primo spin-off di Twilight out Focus, si può tranquillamente riassumere citando l'incipit dell'immortale poesia di Catullo.
Diversamente dall'opera principale, ho trovato questo spin-off bellissimo. Ichikawa e Kikuchihara sono perennemente in conflitto, si arrabbiano, ma poi si riscoprono innamorati. La storia si snoda partendo da una competizione che dura da tempo e da un passato che li lega, rendendo i sentimenti che si sviluppano dopo più naturali di quelli dei protagonisti di Twilight of Focus. Emozionante!

Ganz ehrlich: Dieser Manga hat mich sowas von gelangweilt! Die Story konnte mich überhaupt nicht catchen und überzeugen. Ich finde es ist rein gar nichts passiert und die Charaktere. Nun ja ich konnte sie überhaupt nicht greifen, fand sie sehr blass und generell waren sie einfach nichts meins. Während des Lesens habe ich oft auf die Seitenzahl geschaut und gehofft dass es vorbei ist. Habe auch bei jeder Seite gedacht, dass ich es einfach abbrechen sollte. Für mich war das ein Griff ins Klo.

Bastante bien, tenía ganas de volver a las historias de Jyanome sobre los institutos y sus clubes de cine. Esta vez se centra en dos personajes secundarios de "Twilight Outfocus" y "Twilight Outfocus Overlap". Con personalidades muy distintas, la autora los junta primero en el contexto del club de cine, donde se llevan a matar, y luego los pone a vivir en la misa habitación, donde se llevan estupendamente. No es un" enemies to lovers", porque solo son "enemies" en público, a puerta cerrada se llevan bien. Además, cuando empiezan a conocerse mejor es cuando uno de ellos le enseña al otro las bondades del BL, y esa parte me ha resultado muy tierna la verdad. Las escenas explícitas un poco meh, pero bueno tampoco tienen que ser documentales los Bls.

Me encantó. Creo que incluso más que la primera entrega. Solo tenían que ver mi cara de tonta leyendo cada una de las páginas. Me han encantado su dinámica y su trasfondo. Es más, me he sentido muy identificada con uno de los personajes. Eso ha sido otro punto a favor.

Mir hat Band 1 "Twilight Outfocus" besser gefallen. Die Charaktere und Art der Geschichtenerzählung war da einfach einmalig.

Hier liebe ich die Ehrlichkeit und das direkte, bin aber tatsächlich nicht immer so ein Freund von Ichikawa. In Kombination waren die beiden aber wirklich süß! Sehr lohnenswert!

I connected with this story a lot more than the first one (and I didn't realise each volume was a different couple)!
The chemistry was built up and well-established, and it was so sweet and they suited eachother so well. The backstory for Jin was also super cute, what a lovely read!

Me gustó más esta historia que la otra, pero que puedo decir, lo mío es el enemies to lovers y parejas secundaria, mi tribu, mi manada. Me encanta como no se andan con cotorreo, a lo que van. Hay historias cortas con mucho drama, pero estas son cortas y lo necesario, amo.
