Rule number 1: Do not fall in love with me. I thought it would be as simple as that.

We all know the story. Girl meets boy. Boys meets girl. They fall in love and live happily ever after. Except, after my ‘so-called’ first love shredded my heart to pieces, I gave up on the idea of true love entirely.

Until the small, crumpled-up piece of paper rolled in front of me…

Will you tell me your name? Three boxes lined the top of the note he slid over to me. I should have checked no. I should have let Newport University’s star football player Roman Calloway live his perfect life with his perfect family and friends. But I checked maybe.
Spoiler alert: that really meant yes—and I gave him a whole lot more than just my name.

Except I was the ultimate misfit in his world, thanks to the scandal that had branded a Scarlett letter across my chest from my previous college. Besides, I knew guys like him. Big time players on the field and even bigger players off the field. But just like me, he went against his better judgment and fell in love with me. And when we crashed into each other, it created something beautiful.

A beautiful mess.

Roman

Two things I knew with absolute certainty was that I fell for her, hard and fast, and that Piper Rivers was going to eventually break my heart.

And I was going to let her.

Misfit is Monica Arya’s next best seller. I am honored she has asked me to read and review her books! I look forward to each and everyone of them! Misfit is her latest romance novel and it is one you don’t want to miss. This is Roman’s and Piper’s story about a college romance. It is a well written, fast paced story that you won’t want to put down! Told in dual point of views I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next! The characters are very real and Arya’s descriptions make you fell what they are feeling. This is a story about making mistakes and how you handle those mistakes! It is full of romance, drama…..family drama, secrets, dreams and friendships. This story made me cry and laugh….sometimes at the same time!! I highly recommend this one and any book by this very talented author, she will not disappoint you!

Thank you Monica Arya and Milari Publishing for and advanced copy of this fantastic book in exchange for my honest review.

Another binge-worthy story from the incredibly talented Monica Arya.

Addicting. Sexy. Spiccceeeyyy. And sweet. I finished reading it with a big, stupid grin on my face.

Roman Calloway is a super star quarterback for Newport University and is slated to be a first round pick in the NFL Draft.

Piper Rivers is the daughter of Hollywood's finest and just had to leave her last school because of a huge scandal that left her with scars, trauma, and an oath to never love again.

They meet. Sparks fly. But she makes him promise not to fall in love with her. It's too bad though, because Roman is love drunk on everything about her. Of course he is. He can't stay away from her, and if she's honest with herself, she can't stay away from him either.

But as Roman realizes the clouds of rumors around Piper may actually be true, he wonders how much he knows about her and learns that love truly is blind...

Oof. Don't miss this one, y'all.

I couldn’t fairly rate this seeing as it’s the first book in a while I DNF’d. And I had such high hopes after reading the blurb.

I couldn’t get past the fact they have sex when theres absolutely zero chemistry between them both.

Piper is sent to live with her father after being kicked out of her college in New York, we don’t know why, and frankly I didn’t care. She came across as trying to be different but she fell easily into every character niche going. And don’t get me started on Roman the quarterback who doesn’t seem to have a brain cell rattling about in his thick skull.

At the beginning of the book, Piper tells Roman not to fall for her. And I would think that would be an easy date to accomplish.

As it happens I skim read to the end.
Roman does in fact fall for her. Then finds out her secret. She got pregnant with her professor (I think, like I said, skim read) Roman does some mean shit to her. They get back together and get married. Hoorah.

Misfit by Monica Arya is a sports/college romance written in dual POV.

It's an insta-love story filled with emotions, drama, secrets, love, and friendship. Since she wrote her first romance, Monica Arya has grown so much as an author. In this book, she created a realistic world with real characters. Even people who aren't in the same age category as the characters can still relate to the characters' feelings.

Roman falls hard for Piper, he is determined and will do anything to get her. He is swoony, possessive, protective, and sweet but not perfect. Roman is a young man, who has a lot to learn, he lets his insecurities get in the way and makes mistakes.
My heart hurt for Piper, she made some mistakes and ran away from her past, and she thinks she doesn't deserve to be loved. Her character grows a tremendous amount during the story.

The steamy scenes were well-written and descriptive. Sometimes they were a bit short, but it made sense because these are young people, and everything is faster when you are young.

Misfit is a story about young people who make mistakes and have to learn to live with them and heal from them. A story about trust, finding, and accepting love. I was able to feel their pain and their love for each other.

College romance isn't my go-to genre, but Misfit left me wanting more. I loved every word!

I received an ARC from the author but am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I forgot what it was like to fall in love with the idea of love. The highs, the lows, and the in-betweens that make up each individual story. Like Piper’s reaction to Roman, this book gave me goosebumps over and over again. Their story is raw and real and filled with explosive chemistry. It is a story that perfectly captures the messy side of love while still having a fairytale ending that you can’t help swooning over. I feel like I was able to grow with these characters and learn along with them as they try to navigate university and young love and the complications that arise in the game we call life. Piper and Roman’s story is one of love at first sight, healing, and learning to overcome the past to thrive. The steam was so well written and added to the connection between the characters. And let’s be honest, being tangled in the sheets and learning each other’s bodies is one of the best parts of a new relationship. I knew Monica was going to capture my heart with this story the moment she wrote the line “I tossed back the rest of my coffee, hoping it would warm the coldness of my soul.” This book was a roller coaster of emotions that had me up crying at 5am and was just so perfect. Like Roman says to Piper, being asked to arc read this amazing book is the greatest win of all.

This is an ARC Review, I think as so honoured to be asked by Monica Arya if I would be an arc reader for an honest review. This only the second book I have read by this author and with each one I just love her more and more!

This book is a sport/college romance. With secrets, drama, love, broken hearts, a band of friendships that are ride or die! It’s steamy, cute and beautifully written!

Our two leads are Roman and Piper, they are so different but so similar at the same time. They find each other instantly attractive and can’t seem to deny it. In a world where everyone thinks they know them, they feel out of place, alone and like a misfit.

Roman.. my goodness talk about swoon, swoony, swoon! He is determined and stubborn, he gets what he wants and he wants Piper and to make it big in the NFL. To give his mum the life she deserves and to make her proud.
He is troubled, he is a noble by name and by nature (well expect in the bedroom😏) he isn’t the bad boy but he sure isn’t all good. He is totally sugar and spice🌶
Oh don’t get me wrong there are times I wanted to shake him and tell him it’s his own insecurities that are getting to him. He is protective, possessive, strong, total hottie and damn adorable! Will he get the girl? Can he put his own past aside to keep his perfect fit?

Piper.. oh poor piper, girl you broke my heart! I feel so sorry for her at so many moments, I love her and just wanted to be her bestie! She is sassy as hell, a true New Yorker ( you can take the girl out of the city but not the city out of the girl) She has had a hard past, has ran away to live with her dad and start a fresh. We all know what secrets, the past and memories do to us though. They follow us, they can’t be kept quiet for long and they hold us back. She can’t trust anyone, she doesn’t think she deserves a good life or love so she fights it tooth and nail. She’s beautiful inside and out. She’s a fighter!
Can she stop running long enough to be loved? Will she ever let her past go so she can move on?

I look forward to more in this series and highly recommend.

Y'all need to add this local SC author and all her books to your TBR right now. Go ahead...I'll wait.

Everytime Monica comes out with a new book I scream happily inside and wait anxiously for my copy. So honored to be on her ARC team.

If you're someone who is with your high school or college sweetheart you need to read this book.
My husband and I met in college and just like Piper and Roman it was an instant connection.  I know if we'd met in high school it would've started there too but we are an age gap couple so we had to wait for the universe to align us.

Reading this book and being there through Piper and Roman's love story had me reliving so many memories with my husband. I got goosebumps when I read about Piper getting goose bumps because I still get them too after 11 years and the backwards ball cap just does it every damn time. Am I right ladies?
The last chapter of the book had me tearing up happy tears. The entire theme of this book spoke to me and whenever I see cherries now I'm going to be thinking about this book.

There's several book boyfriends I have but Roman is my first book husband and has claimed that #1 spot.

Why did he break the one rule that she gave him? Why didn't she ignore the piece of paper that he gave her? Why can't he level her alone? Why is she breaking her own rule?

So many questions can be answered by reading Misfit however others may come to mind. Monica writes a beautiful insta-love romance that is full of emotions, heartbreak and a love that never dies. She gives us a couple, Piper and Roman who are in their last year of college. Their story is one that will pull on your heartstrings and have you feeling a sense of sadness with the life that they both lived before meeting one another.

Piper has left her hometown to start a new life for her last year of college. Why, because she s running from her past but does her past ever stay in the past? She meets Roaman the school's quarterback and he is bigger than life. Will she fall for his charm and sweetness? When she tells him that he cannot fall in love with her, he says ok. The attraction is instant and the relationship is intense. Hearts are broken when secrets are reviled but can the feelings that they have outweigh the hurt?

Roaman is the school's star quarterback and has not had the easiest of lives growing up. He worked hard to get into the prestigious college he attends and has a chance at playing in the NFL. His life changes when the new girl on campus shows up and is his science partner. He falls hard for Piper and she invades his every thought. He is the typical alpha male, jealous and protective but is that a bad thing?

Monica is a new author to me and I am glad that I had the chance to read this heart-gripping story. Anyone at any age will easily relate to the feelings and decisions made by the two main characters. The connection they felt and the intimacy that they shared was steamy but well written. I highly recommend picking up this wonderful story of pain, healing and true love.

Girl, after taking a break from writing romance, you have came back and knocked it out of the park. This book was so good, I devoured it in one day, I just didn’t want to put it down.

💙 Sports Romance
💙 College Romance
💙 Second Chance
💙 Angst

I absolutely adored Piper and Roman a lot, this pair had an insane connection. Unfortunately they both had a lot of their pasts holding them back, stopping them from moving on and enjoying their future.

Piper was a beautiful girl that had made some wrong choices in her teenage years, luckily she was able to move herself from the situation to start fresh. Roman was the guy everyone looked up to, he seemed like he had this perfect life, however his life is not how it seems from the outside, he definitely has issues there. Sadly both of their pasts collide and make for some series angst.

This pair have everyone rooting for them, let’s hope they can work it out.

Loved this storyline and characters a lot, I hope there may be another book or two so we can make this a series.

Great read, highly recommended 💙

We’ve all felt like we don’t “fit in” at some point. And everyone has their own reason to feel that way. In Piper’s case, it’s a big secret she’s carrying that’s making her want to start all over on the West Coast. But what happens when you meet the star QB of the new school when you’re trying too hard to get a clean start, and the least thing you want is to get romantically involved with anyone? You make them promise not to fall in love with you. 💔

I've always loved books that involve letters, texts, love notes...and I fell in love with Roman Calloway the moment that he slid a crumpled up piece of paper to Piper Rivers. Piper is the new girl at Newport University having left her scandalous past behind. Roman is the star football player with the perfect friends and the perfect life. When these two crash into each other, they create a beautiful mess, and someone is bound to get hurt.

Misfits is an angsty new-adult college romance with all of the drama and heartache that comes from an intense insta-love story. I really did fall for Roman from the very first moment that he stepped onto the page, and although I liked Piper and my heart broke for all she'd been through, I still found myself getting frustrated with these two on more than once occasion throughout this story. So much could have been resolved with some good ole' honesty and communication, but I always have to remind myself that these are teenagers/young adults and even grown adults make these same mistakes in relationships.

Roman and Piper's relationship is a rollercoaster of emotions that had me swooning at times and fanning myself at others. There is plenty of steam and romance, and those little notes that I love...I couldn't get enough of it. This is the first book that I've read by Monica Arya, and it won't be the last. I only hope for some more books set in the Newport University world, because there are definitely more stories to be told there.

After a catastrophic scandal in her freshman year in college, Piper is leaving her home in New York to move in with her famous dad in California. After her parent's divorce and due to being the most saught after actor his idea of parenting was expensive gifts.

She didn't understand why she was the one who had to leave. Why didn't he have to uproot his life in New York leaving her to leave behind a city she loved?

It was Piper's first day of sophomore year at Newport University and she was gazing out the window at the palm trees missing NY when a tap on her shoulder startled her so much that she spun and lost her balance landing spread-eagled on the floor. She was speechless as she gazed up at the most gorgeous man she'd ever seen.

What a wonderful story! This book is very well written and the characters are both fully developed and highly relatable. Piper has made a mess of her life and has the scars to prove it. She didn't fit in in California especially when whispers began about her scandalous past. Roman loved Piper but was having a hard time dealing with Piper's past which hit him a little too close to home.

This book is action-packed from page one and once you open the first page you won't be able to put the book down. I love Roman and Piper! This book definitely has some moments that you want to pop Roman for his insensitivity and opening his mouth before thinking. Both Piper and Roman have trust issues that nearly ruined their chance for love, but Monica Arya does an amazing job bringing them to their happily ever after.

If you haven't already read anything by Monica Arya, I highly recommend this author. Her books are full of depth and steamy hot scenes! You won't be disappointed!

🌊 HAPPY PUB DAY to Misfit!!

This is a sweet (but steamy 🔥🥵) college sports romance with wealthy, elite students trying to find their place in a world where they feel like misfits. A story of love at first sight.

This is the first college and sports romance I’ve read so it took me some time to warm up to it. Roman and Piper’s behaviors made me cringe and roll my eyes at times but I reminded myself that they were still young. 🤣 It made me nostalgic for my college days.

I loved the ending so much. Piper and Roman’s experiences through their heartaches and traumas made their journey that much more believable.

Aahh to be young & 19 again! This one definitely brought the feels, along with a little steam, and some serious nostalgia. It took me back to being in an angsty relationship at 19.

[Piper Rivers moves across the country in hopes to start over at a new college. She’s already in the spotlight enough, being the product of a model & a famous actor, but her latest scandal has all eyes on her. All she needs to do is just get through this year without any drama. That is until she falls HARD & FAST (literally!) for star QB Roman Calloway. Their whirlwind romance has everyone talking until her secret leaks out. Can their romance survive the turmoil?]

I know I’ve said this before, but Monica Arya can really switch between thriller & romance genres so effortlessly & flawlessly. I really felt the magnetic pull between Piper & Roman from the very beginning. My heart went out to her with each new bit you learned about her past. And I would have most definitely been swept right up in the whirlwind that is Roman Calloway, at 19, just like Piper. There’s something about that wholesome, yet cocky, football star character that can make any girl swoon! All in all, this was such a cute story & I enjoyed it! 4.5 ⭐️ (rounded to 5)

A HUGE thank you to Monica Arya for this e-arc!

When Roman calls Piper Cherry my own heart skips a beat. This was my favorite college romance. An emotional and beautiful love story that reminds you of what it is like to be young, and in love. Roman and Piper have a magnetic pull to one another, and it seems the universe wants to complicate it all for them but they fight for what they know is meant to be. Roman is the ultimate book boyfriend. He's handsome, charming, jealous and possessive while also knowing what he wants for himself. The last few chapters left me with goosebumps and a giant smile even after closing the book. Absolutely recommend this college and sports romance.

Piper and Roman, boy was their story NOT lacking in emotional drama! If there was ever a rollercoaster-like start to a relationship, this was it!
Piper, looking for a fresh start after a heartbreaking series of events and scandal in her life, finds herself in sunny California at a new college and looking to leave everything in her past back on the east coast. However, as the saying goes, sometimes the past comes back to haunt you. Piper meets Roman and has a bit of a whirlwind romance with the star football player of Newport University. Roman falls hard and he falls fast for Piper. It’s pretty sweet and adorable really. But, once he knows the whole truth about Piper’s past at her previous school, he struggles with his feelings about the Piper he loves and the one who made decisions he doesn’t fully understand.
I think what I loved about this story was that it was truly a college romance. These were early 20 somethings still learning about life and trying to figure out where they fit in, who they fit in with, and what love looks and feels like for them.

Quick Notes:
• College romance
• Some sensitive subjects are covered
• A little bit of insta-love
• Some sports themes (The MMC plays football)
• Sort of an embarrassing meet-cute
• HEA
• Dual POV
Ratings:
• 💗💗💗💗
• 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (I might even go with a 2.5 here and don’t get me wrong, there are definitely steamy scenes here. I’m more so going on volume for this one. Totally appropriate for this story though.)

A couple more quotes that I loved:
“He ran his hand through his shiny, brown hair. He pulled himself up on the rail, grabbed my face, and kissed me. Mischief and pride dancing in the stunning green of his eyes popping against the eye black he had underneath. He kissed me in a way every girl deserves to be kissed at least once in her life. My knees grew weak, and I put my hands on both sides of his face and pulled him closer.”
“They say there are certain moments in life that you instantly regret because if you had chosen the other direction or did something else, your life would be completely different. This was that moment.”

***4.5 Stars On My Instagram Account***" ...he's not my addiction, he's my courage."

"...Love shouldn't hurt you; it should heal you."

Where was prolific author Monica Arya when I needed love advice? These are just a couple of the dozen of lines I highlighted in Misfit, her latest sexy college romance filled with drama, steam, humor, and true emotions.

At 19 Piper has made enough mistakes and had enough trauma for a lifetime. She leaves her NYC for a new start 3,000 miles away in California. On her first day she meets handsome, charming and oh so sexy football star Roman. What should be a whirlwind romance turns into some very heartfelt life lessons as regrets, misunderstandings, fears, insecurities, and emotions take both Piper and Roman on a journey of finding themselves before they can be with each other.

My heart broke, pounded and swooned throughout this dual point of review coming of age love story. The author writes some WTF
thrillers, check out Shades of Her for a jaw dropping ending, and in Misfit she incorporates that mystery and suspense as Piper's full story is slowly revealed to us and Roman. It's heartbreaking but also cathartic when Piper can finally speak her truth.

It would be easy to classify this book just as a steamy college romance but I found it to be a more tender and honest story about life between being a teen and an adult. When every decision, every misstep, every heartbreak feels life ending. But like when Piper makes Roman promise not to fall in love with her and he knows he already has and she will break his heart they realize you still have to go for love just in case you get your happy ever after.

I received a free copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Releases April 11th!

Oh, to be young and in love. Misfit by Monica Arya is such a sweet story about young love that is meant to last a lifetime.

Roman and Piper both feel like they are misfits in their world, and what was missing in their lives was each other. The attraction is instant, especially for Roman who is just oh so sweet. The way he wants to be part of Piper’s life right away is so cute.

My heart hurt for Piper though. She went down a bad spiral at a young age, attached herself to somebody who took advantage of her vulnerability, and ended up betraying her and breaking her heart. It didn’t end there for her. She has lost so much, and felt like the only way to move forward was to move to a different coast. She fights this thing with Roman as much as she can, trying to keep him at an arm's length, and telling him not to fall in love with her.

But my sweet sweet Roman wasn’t having any of that. He knew right away that Piper was the missing piece in his life. He easily got jealous and was very possessive of Piper. I thought it was admirable how he didn’t pry into Piper’s past. So many people tried warning him and would slip up and say certain things, but he chose to wait for Piper to tell him herself.

Which leads to problems in their relationship. It made me so angry that Piper kept her past secret, even though I understand why she would want to after learning about Roman’s family.

Overall, really enjoyed this read! This was a new to me author and that always makes me nervous, especially for an ARC read. Turned out to be such a sweet, yet steamy, read and I loved it!

For the last 30 pages I just thought about the phone call and if he really slept with Sierra. It was so fast. I would not forgive him without even asking to explain. After everything he told her. On her birthday. It is like 2 different characters.
I can understand the bad boy vibe and I can understand that sometimes you say something you don't want or don't think. But come on. You never say such things or think the way he did about someone you love.
After you behave like a dum**ss, you should think "I am mad but I love her, I am sorry but I am hurt" not " oh now that I got rid of her I am happy because I am going to focus on my life (which he better did with her) "..
I do not like him. Just because no one who is worthy of love , no one who loves you can behave like that. Think your past is something to be ashamed of or be disappointed in you ... Just don't ever be with someone who does this thing to you.
You deserve love. You deserve someone who will understand you, be with you, not run from you or walk away. When you love somebody you care about them, you try to understand, you are there for them even if you are hurt, you are friends before everything else.
Just... I would never forgive him. Those are the signs he doesn't love you.
Just... Don't do this kind of love in real life...

Misfit by Monica Arya

4.5 rounded up!

This book was cute!! Who's a fan of young college romance? Have you ever loved someone so ferociously that there were no baby steps taken?? That 19-year-old insta love? Because this book will take you back to the old days. Full of nostalgia and all the angsty feels.

Piper and Roman were sickly adorable! Of course, nothing at that age ever comes easy. A young girl on the run/mend from a scandal that was all too much to handle meets a confident/cocky star quarterback that steals hearts and is easy on the eyes. There are obstacles left and right thrown at the couple. Can it all be laid out on the table? Easy to hash out...to understand?

If you're a fan of college sports romance with some heat, this one will be for you! It's a quick read too! I've enjoyed every book of Monica's, whether it be romance or thriller. She's an awesome writer. I'm still scratching my head on how she effortlessly switches genres, the turnaround is wild!!

You won't want to miss out on Misfit!

♡.. . Rule number 1: Do not fall in love with me. I thought it would be as simple as that...

Thank you so much Monica for allowing me to read this one early!!!

I’m so glad I gave this book a chance. This is well written, it flows easily and is easy to read.
Piper has made a lot of mistakes and she brakes responsibility for her mistakes. People judge without knowing the whole story or putting themselves in her shoes or those that have been in her situation. The judge situations that are similar to her and of course Piper doesn’t want to talk about her past.
I felt bad for Piper. She takes on too much of the blame and responsibilities of what happened when it’s clear that a grown adult took advantage of a situation and a young person. What gets to me is that Roman judges her when he should understand Piper’s situation. He says he loves her but when it all comes out where is he? I don’t think I could forgive him no matter what.
Piper finds friends in California after what happens in NY. I can see why she’s not ready to give people a chance but it’s nice that she finds a real friend in Isla.
I love college/sports romance books.
I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this story and the characters. Immediately I found myself liking Piper and feeling for her with everything she had been through. Having grown up in the elite New York world and having to grow up as fast as she did, she was trying to start fresh and have a better life. It seemed like no matter what she did, things always seemed to get messed up and I felt for her. Some of that was her own fault but just how Roman reacted due to his own past created so much drama.

I loved the story and reading their journey to be happy. It was so cute how they fell for each other and how they relived some of those scenes multiple times. The only thing I wish we saw an outcome to was the thing that happened towards the end with Sierra and the phone call. Nothing more was ever said of it and I wished there could have been closure with that since I assume what she said was a lie.

Great story! Definitely enjoyed the read.

Misfit by Monica Arya is a college insta sports romance. This book reminds me of reality tv or daytime talk shows which are dramatic, exciting, and a bit messy and I’m here for every minute of it. Piper moves from New York to Los Angeles to get away from her past and Roman the quarterback falls head over heels for Piper at first sight. Piper and Roman are immature and their relationship beginning is toxic with their relationship built on secrets and lies, but the secrets and lies are what kept my attention. Figuring out what the secrets are and what is going to happen next is my favorite part of the book. Misfit is moderately sweet and spicy. I also enjoyed watching Piper and Roman grow up and heal from their pasts as they got to know each other. I recommend Misfit if looking for a dramatic and exciting romance.
