Mr. Men My Complete Collection, 48 Book Boxset

Rate this book
The lasting appeal of these classic books will ensure this collection takes pride of place on any child's nursery bookshelf. Perfect for children aged 3 and up. It all started with a tickle. Roger Hargreaves' son Adam asked him what a tickle looked like. In response, Roger drew a small orange man with extraordinarily long arms that could reach anywhere and tickle anyone. Mr Tickle, the first of the Mr Men, was born. Mr Tickle was soon joined by Mr Greedy, Mr Happy, Mr Nosey, Mr Sneeze and Mr Bump. The books were an instant hit and Roger went on to create many more Mr Men and Little Miss characters. What Roger really wanted was to make children laugh, which is probably why his own favourite character is Mr Silly.

My personal favourites were Mr. Uncertain-About-The-Laws-Of-Physics removing his helmet during a spacewalk and Mr. Looking-For-New-Sexual-Experiences, who steps into a piranha-infested river without his shorts. But there are so many good ones to choose from.

Amusing stories, characters, overall concept, and nice bright, colorful pictures. Some of the gender stereotypes in the Mr Men and Little Miss books are dated and I wouldn’t read these books to impressionable younger girls. It would be lovely if more positive character traits were emphasized.

Super easy to read. I love the illustrations, love all the stories. I grew up on these but never had the whole set, so I was excited to finally read all the stories.
Would absolutely recommend, next up is purchasing the entire Little Miss collection.

Five stars for the gestalt... there's something about getting the whole box of 50 and dipping into them all at once that's really satisfying. Me and the kids have been enjoying plowing through these 3 at a time. All the characters inhabit a shared universe, so you see Mr. Nosey pop up in the background of Mr. Rush rushing by and stuff like that

BEST ONE SO FAR: Mr. Rude. He's so rude!
WORST PLACE: Mr. Happy & Mr. Nobody (tie)
LAST PLACE: Mr. Cool. not even written by Hargreaves! but rather by his son, whilst Hargreaves turned in his grave

I wouldn't mind getting the Little Miss set as well, but this one me back like $100, so two seems a bit much. Maybe next year

I had a lazy afternoon today and read this collection and the Mr Men one, and I must say that it was an afternoon well spent. These books are great reintroduction to some of Hargreaves' characters, it was nice to see those who didn't have their own books appear in someone elses. As always they were well illustrated and funny. There is less of a message in these compared to the original Mr Men and Little Miss books, but as I said it seems to be more of an amusing reintroduction to the characters - Mr Greedy is Greedy once again, Mr Tall hates his long legs again etc.

All really good books 📚 about all different characters but all different story’s there’s always more than one character in each book so they are amazing especially for younger children I feel like they will enjoy the books and the right size to but older children still can love them because there all good books these can come in packs of 1 there are also little miss if anybody is wondering these ones are only boys in the books 📚

Really helped me when I was a child. However I am not sure I would read them to my children, especially younger than a certain age, like third or fourth grade, which is when I read them.. I can definitely see why my mother sort of disapproved of them. I remember that what I liked when I was young was that the characters were not perfect and I liked to see how they overcame whatever was troubling them. I also liked the imagination and the very, very silly art.

Little Miss and Mr. Men - Think we have about 30+ copies of this little books & once again kids (& parents) love them, usually we have 3 copies left, never the whole lot, which I believe is fantastic! I think they're bit long for the EC3-K kids but they've proven to be hugely popular! So if they're not reading them all then I'm sure they're really enjoying the pictures :)

Really enjoyable series, full of humour and great illustrations. I had a lazy afternoon today and just sat and read all of these and another boxset - a great way to spend my day! If my future children don't love these like I do - and did as a child - then obviously I'll have to disown them...
