*Please this is part two of Hattie’s story. Her adventure starts in Sandwiches in Seabury - and will conclude in Surprises in Seabury.*
This is Seabury - where everyone knows everyone, the average tourist hasn't got a clue it even exists, and that's just how the locals like it!
The opening night of the new restaurant at The Pebble Street Hotel is just around the corner, and head chef Hattie Barclay’s head is spinning with everything there is left for her to do.
Even with Ben and Lou on hand to keep her feet on the ground and steer her true, she can’t help but worry that she’s not living up to her old boss Marco Brook's standards… even if the man was a first-class idiot and his new restaurant is a total flop.
Still, Hattie can’t help but feel that she’s missing the key ingredient to make sure the launch goes off with a bang - and she’s starting to get a little bit desperate!
But when a DIY disaster in the breakfast room uncovers some forgotten memories that had been in danger of being lost forever, it’s not just the hotel’s long-held secrets that are about to be revealed…
Can Hattie win the town’s tastebuds over? Will she realise that the answers to her dreams could be right here in Seabury? Or will her appetite and ambition make sure that disaster is firmly on the menu?
A small town, seaside adventure full of friendship, fun and laughter! For fans of Holly Martin, Polly Babbington and Heidi Swain.
Secrets in Seabury is the fifth novella in the Seabury series - and part two of Hattie's story.
Beth Rain has always wanted to be a writer and has been penning adventures for characters ever since she learned out to stare into the middle-distance and daydream.
She currently lives in the (sometimes) sunny South West, and it is a dream come true to spend her days hanging out with Bob – her trusty laptop – and scoffing crisps and chocolate while dreaming up swoony love stories for all her imaginary friends.
Join Beth in Seabury if you fancy dipping your toes in the waves, head to Little Bamton for some quintessential English village action, or take a trip down the river to Upper Bamton if standalones involving a spot of wine and wool are your thing!
Beth’s writing will always deliver on the happy-ever-afters.
This is the second book that continues Harrie's story. Loved it!

The opening night of the new restaurant at The Pebble Street Hotel is fast approaching, and head chef Hattie Barclay is feeling overwhelmed with all the tasks she still needs to complete. Despite the support of her colleagues Ben and Lou, she worries about living up to her former boss Marco Brook's standards. She is determined to ensure the restaurant launch is a success, even if she feels like she is missing a crucial element. But a mishap in the breakfast room leads to unexpected revelations. As she faces challenges and uncovers forgotten memories at the hotel, Hattie must decide if she can win over the town with her cooking and if her dreams are within reach in Seabury.
Loved reading about the restoration of The Pebble Street Hotel and how hard Hattie and Great Uncle Lionel have worked to bring it up to scratch for the grand opening night. Hattie is undecided what to feature on the menu and decides to keep it simple with fresh fish and produce from local allotments and a pudding with a recipe from The Pebble Street Pudding Club, only problem is she has to find the recipe and discover the secret ingredient. Ably assisted by Ben and new waitress Lou we are treated to a feel good story centred around friendships and community spirit.
Another beautiful read by Beth Rain. Part of the Seabury series, this book is us tor 2bd in a trilogy primarily about Hattie.
Hattie has gone through some life changes. She moved temporarily to Seabury, or so she thought. It’s a lovely story, one which will take you away from the stresses of everyday life. Get immersed in the community of Good Hope. Such a lovely read. I cannot wait for the final instalment of the Hattie stories, I know for sure it will be another gorgeous book.
Another great chapter in the life of the residents of Seabury. You live the dream with them and pray it works out OK. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
The series continues to the same high standard with the continuation of Hattie’s story. The restaurant is close to opening, will it be ready in time? Off to buy part 6 of the series now which is part 3 of Hattie’s story, can’t wait!!
Another wonderful, fun packed book by Beth. I really like Beth's writing style and her eye for detail in descriptiona etc.
I absolutely love Hattie and there are so many it her traits that I can relate to. Her friendships and relationships are so wonderful to read about.
The relationship between her and her Uncle Lionel is so lovely and heartwarming.
I love Lou and her honesty, she is going to be a great friend to Hattie I think. Once again the community feel to this book is beautiful, people mucking in the help and show there support.
Another delicious slice of Seabury. Well done to Hattie for getting the restaurant up and running. Looking forward to her relationship with Ben progressing. Wish I could try the pudding
