The fact that I bought Lee Hall's book indicates that tactics of marketing, mentioned above else in his text, work. Where did I find out he published a book like that? From his Twitter. Why did I buy his book? I subscribed to his mailing list and found out one day that the book was discounted. Why does his book attract attention? It's timely, concise, and lucid.

The book's title is the key to what hides under cover of 'Consistent Creative Content: A Guide to Authoring and Blogging in the Social Media Age.' Lee Hall has learned the basics of blogging, promotion, and marketing through social media by trial and error. By putting together the short manual, he wants to lessen the burden any aspiring author/blogger faces when starting the writing journey and provide him/her with practical tips and valuable tactics. The author uses his experience with concrete promotion techniques and concrete numbers of book downloads to illustrate the dry facts.

The book's main advantage is the author's general hopefulness and openness toward other players in the field. The most helpful advice one can extract from the book does not include tips about writing or promoting. The author, through his example, shows that success - whatever it means because it means different things to different people - comes not from competing/copying others but the comparison of what you were and what you achieved. And any achievement above zero can be praised as a success.

The occasional errors like the wrong sentence order or subsequent repetition of one word (traces of editing) slightly spoil the overall positive impression.

I recommend the book to beginners in blogging/writing as a step-by-step instruction to the successful life of a social media expert. Despite the flair of otherworldliness, sometimes attributed to writers/poets, writing for a living isn't - and has never been - a solely artistic endeavor. It requires being a salesman, entrepreneur, and manager at the same time. Social media changed the ways of promoting oneself, and, in order to be heard and read, aspiring writers have to know how to navigate it.

Inspiring and informative

For beginners just starting out in the writing world or those like me who have been doing this for while but have very little idea about blogging and how to use social media, this is a book for you. Lee lays out what he has learned through personal experience in an easy and intelligible way. Brilliant tips are a plenty is this well written book. I for one have learned so much. Highly recommend.

As an independently-published author I couldn’t miss this book. Indie authors need all the advice they can get, and “Consistent Creative Content” by Lee Hall looked like something practical and possible to use rather than a book that offers only loud slogans and unrealistic achievements.

One sentence, and it was instantly clear to me that I’m on the same page with the author. “I’ve always measured my results beside the number from where I started – absolute zero.” My “coming-of-age” time had fallen on the times of turbulent changes. And the phrase I heard most often was “I’m not going to work for such a tiny amount of money”. For me, it was absolutely clear that “tiny amount” and “zero” are not comparable values. Zero is nothing, and you can do incomparably more with even something small, while you can’t do anything with zero.

“Consistent Creative Content” doesn’t promise that you’d become the next Stephen King or a blogger with millions of followers. Lee Hall shares his own story to success with helpful details that can show the direction both to those who’re just beginning their journey in blogging/writing and to those who have already made some steps towards building their dream.

“Success is in the eye of the beholder and when it comes to writing and blogging you are only competing against yourself.” This is, I think, the most important thing to remember at all times while you are pursuing your creative dream to become an author. There will always be someone more successful than you. But it is healthy to keep in mind that you don’t know what the success has cost that person, as well as at what cost it – maybe! – has been purchased.

Lee Hall offers advice based on his own experience on such vital things as book promotion opportunities, reviews and the way to obtain them, possible fraud and scam issues – which is a big thing since there are so many aspiring authors out there nowadays and the opportunities to self-publish are so wide. The author also writes about how to “tame” the Twitter machine to gain not only sales and reviews, but also friendships and support from fellow writers.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone who feels inspired by the opportunity to make their dream of becoming a writer whose books are read by people come true, and at the same time, who feels lost in the vast sea of publishing and social media.

Perfect for any writer at any stage

CCC is a well-written, concise take on the writing process, including marketing and promotion. It is geared toward the indie author, and it came at a perfect time for me. I recently self-published my first novel. I found much of what Lee wrote to be very relatable. There was content I already knew about, but only after countless hours of research. If I had this book a few months ago, I would have saved myself a lot of time.

I am a very introverted person and I often doubt my ability to engage with people on social media. It just doesn’t come naturally to me. When I think of something I could post, I usually stop myself because I assume no one will care. When I do post and I am largely ignored, it solidifies that opinion and I then post less. I found Lee’s book to be so inspiring that even an insecure introvert like me now feels motivated to connect with people online!

CCC is the sort of book that I will refer to many times for years to come. It’s a great reference! I can also attest to the fact that Lee’s suggestions work. How do I know this? Because I don’t know Lee personally, but I discovered him on Twitter. He is kind, funny, and encouraging. I like Lee even though I don’t know him, and I think that’s a lot of what he’s trying to get across in CCC. Don’t try to sell your book, try to sell yourself. If believe like you and believe in you, the sales will come. That’s a great takeaway from this book!

Dynamic, informative and inspiring guide!

“Consistent Creative Content” by Lee Hall

✍🏼If you need a dynamic, informative, inspiring guide to authoring and blogging, you definitely should read this book.
___
✍🏼Genre: A guide to authoring and blogging in the social media age
Language: English
Release date: 2021

✍🏼The Plot:  The last time I was so obsessed with reading the book about writing was reading “On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft” by Stephen King. But, truth to be told, Lee Hall managed to stand head and shoulders above my previous read related to writing. This book is not just an ordinary guide to authoring. “Consistent Creative Content” is a multilayered manual for people who can’t imagine their life without writing. The author doesn’t teach you how to write; he gives you brilliant tips on keeping afloat and not giving up in this hectic, competitive bookish world.  Revealing his personal writing experience, the writer leaves stones (like in “Hänsel und Gretel” by The Brothers Grimm) to help all those who lost their way on a writing path. Besides the authoring and blogging aspects, there are a lot of brilliant, clever marketing recommendations. This book is informative, inspiring, and helpful for all the people who love writing and decide to tie their fate with this craft.

✍🏼The Writing Style: Although this book is a guide, the author created it as an enjoyable, juicy, wise, and exciting read. I adored that every chapter includes magnificent quotes by famous journalists, bloggers, and indie authors I was lucky to read. I intentionally didn’t read it in one sitting. I wanted to process all these smart and wise tips and write them out for myself. The author knows how difficult it is for an indie author to make a book visible to readers. Lee Hall succeeded in drawing a vivid map for those who already walk along the writing path and those who have just stepped on this twisty road.

❤️‍🔥The fave quote: “The hardest thing about being an indie author is letting the world know your book exists...”
“The best thing is convincing the world one person at a time this is your dream.”

✍🏼Would I read other books by this author:  Definitely, yes!

🔥My humble rating is: 5/5

Genuine, heartfelt and practical

As a struggling self-published author (aren't we all?) I found this book to be full of practical, realistic advice from someone who clearly lives writing and had put the graft in getting his work out there. Lee is generous, supportive and not protective of his knowledge. My advice? Be more Lee.

I've been following Lee for awhile on X and he's always been very inspiring. This book brings together lots of his inspiring and helpful advice which anyone can follow. I don't have a blog as such but have recently started a Substack and a lot of the blogging advice is relevant for that as well. Great marketing advice for authors including how to grow your followers on social media. Highly recommended for any writer who wants to achieve success!

I honestly believe every indie author needs this book on their shelf.

I've made no secret on several different platforms my creative problems of late. The reasons for this struggle are numerous, but at least through Consistent Creative Content, I now have a road map for getting back on the proverbial horse. At the height of my writing powers, I was publishing two novels a year and averaging a blog post a week -- and it's no coincidence that numbers, meager though they were, were much better than they are now.

Lee Hall's brief how-to not only offers a road map; it's also inspiration (for things I can do going forward) and validation (that, in some ways, I was on the right track when I was at my best and most productive). I also appreciate that Hall didn't just tell us how to promote our work -- he also offered concrete examples of promotions he had run, and the results therein.

I still have a long creative road ahead (and patience is not one of my virtues), but Hall's Consistent Creative Content is another example of a book I needed, right when I needed it. This is the sort of book I wish had existed when I first published Bounty back in 2015, but I'm glad to have it now.

Indie authors of any stripe -- whether they've never published before or they have a backlog dozens of books deep -- would do well to have a copy of this book. There really is something in here for everybody, and if 2022 winds up being my creative resurgence, this book will be a big reason why.

The author broke the old myth about easy writing and publishing. Writing is a process, not a coincidence. This useful guideline explains what you need to publish a story, which are basic elements, and how to represent your work. He offers his own story about progress, which was not easy. I could agree with many statements in this book, like the chapter about spam and people who can't wait to take a financial advantage from your hard work. What is missing are examples, that would make this story dynamic and practical. In global, I remembered much useful advices which I will need in the future.

A personality-filled, informative read.

In this book, Lee Hall shares his own experiences in building a following, with the intention of helping other authors develop a plan for success. His book includes action points to follow, his musings on various related topics, and step by step of his own journey.

Some of what he says is common sense but hearing it in his unique style helps bring to mind things we often take for granted. Other information in the book finds a way of creating that a-ha moment in the reader’s mind, giving birth to new ideas to try.

Lee has a warm, personable approach in this book that makes it easy to understand. After reading his book, I have a solid sense of respect for the man and I’m grateful for the light bulbs he’s turned on in my mind.

My main complaint, which is mild at strongest, is that the book repeats itself in many places. That may be by design, to drive a point home, but for me personally, that space could have either been filled with additional content, or could have been omitted to make it more succinct. Despite this minor issue, it was well worth the read and I will refer to it many times as I move forward on my own quest to build a following.

A book about writing ? Yes.

But more precisely, a book about how to market and sell your book, especially when you're self-published. I've been following Lee on Twitter for a few months and I recently decided to give this book a try. I was not disappointed.

This guide is very helpful and interesting. Lee shares his experience simply and humbly. It's a fast read, and it's efficient and straight to the point, as I like it. No bullshit. There's so much advice and information to note down and save for later, I'm very enthusiastic about it.

I definitely recommend this book if you're an author, and even more if you're thinking about self-publishing. A lot of lessons to learn.

A handy little guide both for beginners and more advanced authors. Lee Hall's conversational writing style makes this an easy read that is full of real-life examples and common sense tips when it comes to the art of authoring in modern-day times. While an advanced writer might not learn anything new, it's good to be reminded of social media and blogging tips they may not have engaged in for a while or to know that what they're doing is something others have (eventually) had success with. If you're deciding to blog or join social media for writing but haven't taken the plunge, or aren't seeing the engagement you want yet, the advice here is solid. A section dedicated to self-care and mental health is a big highlight of the book and will benefit all authors, from new to seasoned ones.

Lee Hall, an author I "met" on Twitter, practices what he preaches. With a blog of my own and a third book published, Lee's book has given me encouragement--that several things I've begun are on the right track. It's also given me tips for enhancing and growing this authoring journey. Lee Hall has an impressive track record and generously shares it with his readers in this part memoir, part guide-book. Very helpful!

This advice book is written to help aspiring authors gain an audience and grow it. The book is full of tips and insights on the publishing industry, social media, and promotions. I enjoyed the tone of this book. Hall balances well being both supportive and realistic about what it takes to be a successful writer. The real data he shares from his own journey as a book author and blogger is one of the most valuable parts of the book.

I also appreciated that he touched on the importance of mental health and shared practical tips on dealing with criticism and toxicity.

Lastly, I found his social media, marketing, and selling tips to be valuable for both beginning and experienced writers.

Lee Hall is a great supporter of indie authors, and has a great following on social media - so when he released this book to teach what he has learned I had to pick it up! This book is written in an easy conversational style detailing how to grow your following as an author. I loved his concrete examples with numbers of his efforts through time, and above all, his advice to be consistent and honest on social media to grow your following organically. I don't have a blog, but his advice is applicable for all platforms. Read this if you want proven advice on how to social media!

I don't like the star system, but do recommend this how-to/memoir as good info for those of us slogging through the self promotion required of a creative. Insights into the inscrutable ways of social media. Reminded me of the message of Booklife---yes, write and create. Also take care of yourself for the long haul.

This book is part how to blog, part how to establish an author career, and part inspirational text. It’s quite well done! And now I am under pressure to remember the advice he gave about leaving a great review…

I am a beginning author with a debut romance book about a year old. I blog not at all, write a very different genre from Mr. Hall, am active on some forms of social media, but it doesn’t matter. The advice alone for any author or blogger along with an intimate glimpse into what worked and did not work for a fellow scribe is always valuable territory to any creator’s learning process.

I was thrilled to learn I was doing a lot right, some to be improved upon, and other suggestions to re-evaluate my own journey and future success. And he put it all together with a handy checklist for each area at the end to check back from time to time which makes this book a keeper in my kindle and author shelf. And he topped it off with a great kick in the pants and appreciation at the end.

I love books that allow you to take what you need for you, leave the rest, and create your own dream. You got it with this one. Blogger, author, or social media denizen, there is something here for you. Read all about it here. It’s tough to be a lot of things to several audiences, but this is one that does the customization and voice just right.

This is a highly useful and valuable resource for independent authors trying to get to grips with the self-publishing industry. It is not a guide to the art and craft of writing - but there are enough books about that as it is.

Instead, Lee Hall focuses on what indie writers can do to get noticed through social media, to build a following, and to make sure that their hard work is rewarded through the attention of their (potential) readers.

The greatest strength of this volume is that Hall puts his mouth where his money is, so to speak - there is a wealth of detail here showing what lies behind the curtain, including how Hall invested money in the marketing of his books, and what the results of that investment were.

Overall, this is essential reading for the social media novice; moreover, coming across this book introduced me to Lee Hall's social media presence, and I feel like with every passing week there is another chapter's worth of content to peruse.

If you are just starting your writing journey, read this!

This is a great guide for writers who are thinking about becoming an author / blogger. If you are already on that journey, you’ll benefit from this book as well. Lee Hall uses his own experiences to provide insight into what it takes and what to expect from being an author. He’s packed this book full of great advise that any writer can use. I’m three books into my authoring career and I picked up several pro tips that I have already started using. Like all authors, I struggle with marketing, and his sections on the topic, in particular, will be useful to me.

From The “Basics of Blogging” to social media to “authoring” to book production, marketing, how to write and receive book reviews, and then onto advanced methods and more, Lee Hall’s Consistent, Creative Content has you covered. I absolutely love it! It’s hard to review, actually, because only superlatives come to mind.

The content is absorbing and thorough, the advice timely and wise. Reading the book is like having a good conversation with a trusted friend – interesting, relaxed, and encouraging.

I really can’t recommend it enough. Thank you, Lee Hall!

Good, informative read

"Consistent Creative Content" was just that, consistently creative and full of concise and useful content. I am a relatively new indie author with 6 books under my belt, and I studied Lee Hall's "Consistent Creative Content" as though it was an assignment with the goal of learning how to promote my books and further my business as a self-published indie writer. Hall's e-book version also provides helpful links detailed digs into various topics posted on his blog.

This is the book I needed---but did not have---when I started out on my authoring journey. That's okay because it will now be my valuable go-to guide moving forward. Chock-filled with tidbits from Hall's vast experience in the writing world, it is a excellent resource for those immersing themselves in the confusion that is social media for writers. I am grateful to have found this book and also Hall's blog which serves as a follow-on. Thank you, Lee Hall!

A candid and practical guide for writers navigating the digital landscape
In “Consistent Creative Content: A Guide to Authoring and Blogging in the Social Media Age”, author Lee Hall offers pragmatic tips and valuable strategies for publishing a book and blogging. His advice remains timely and effective even though the book is a few years old, as I discovered the guide through his X-Account (formerly Twitter).

Lee’s writing is concise and straightforward. His conversational writing style makes the book engaging and easy to read. He cuts through the fluff to deliver practical advice and shares his successes and failures with honesty and humility.

Key lessons for authors
Hall underscores the value of consistent writing and marketing, but also provides several vital lessons for writers:
1. Every author/blogger starts from zero. He notes, “I’ve always measured my results beside the number from where I started—absolute zero. And compared to zero, my numbers today appear to be quite impressive.”
2. Success, no matter how you define it, is not a guarantee. Hall encourages his readers to focus on personal growth rather than external comparisons. He states, “Success is in the eye of the beholder, and when it comes to writing and blogging, you are only competing against yourself.”
3. Embrace failure and learn from it. He writes, “Some call low numbers failure, but to me, there are no failures in life, just lessons and opportunities. Both go hand in hand when it comes to writing.”
4. Writing is a process, not a coincidence. Lee emphasizes, “The most important thing in writing is to start.”

Minor issues
The book’s wide range of topics makes it feel unfocused. Perhaps dividing the content into separate books—one on writing and blogging, the other on marketing and social media—would have been a better approach.

Some parts of the book are repetitive. Repetition is useful for emphasis, but too much is just redundant. At times, Lee crosses this line.

Rating
Lee Hall’s “Consistent Creative Content: A Guide to Authoring and Blogging in the Social Media Age” is an excellent resource for those who want to write and publish in the digital age. I especially suggest this for beginners who find the many aspects of publishing and book marketing overwhelming. This guide will save you countless hours of research by providing a solid foundation in these areas. However, advanced authors and bloggers will also find valuable insights.
