This story is an active expression of tenacity, strength and growth which inspires, instructs and equips dreamers to believe in themselves. It examines many of the emotions and stages that youths, who do not have a clear sense of purpose or meaningful identity, experience. It also speaks to young people who are struggling with coming to terms with their parents' divorce. Joshua's The Power of a Few Words, is the autobiographical story of Jeffrey Azan, son to a family of well to do retailers, who loses his way in life due to family challenges and internal struggles with identity and purpose. The story follows the author, Jeffrey Azan, from birth to the publishing of his first book Self Discussions, covering his own battles with lack of faith, discouragement from his family, walking a path he alone could see, and pursuing a dream he alone seemed to believe in.
Joshua's Journey is an easy read but make no mistake, the lessons and insights contained within are powerful beyond measure. Azan is a phenomenal storyteller who has taken carefully charted his journey and selected key moments over the course of his life and distilled these moments into insightful lessons that pack a punch. Through a series of relatable stories, humorous anecdotes and bolded main points, Joshua's Journey is less of a memoir and more of a sort of Cliff's Notes to a purpose-driven life.
What I loved most about this book (compared to to the myriad of self-help/motivational books out there) is that it doesn't force, it doesn't judge, it simply celebrates the fact that we all have a story to tell and that story has the power to positively impact others. I thoroughly enjoyed this powerful journey and was sad to put it down. I can't wait for the next one!
