I don’t know who I am or what happened to me.

I know that I’ve been running, but from what I don’t know. And I know that the five men surrounding my hospital bed are important, possibly even precious to me, but they all swear they haven’t met me before.

They say they feel it too, this familiarity, this connection.

So when danger comes looking, these five strangers take it upon themselves to hide me away while we put together the pieces of my past. What we find instead is darker. A twisted conspiracy that ties all six of us together in an unexpected and terrifying web of danger.

Progeny is a multi-POV contemporary reverse harem romance (MMFMMM). Please refer to the author's notes in the beginning of the book for any potential content warnings

I couldn’t wait to read this book from the moment I read the blurb, because I knew it would be a blast and it didn’t disappoint AT ALL. If I could I would give it more than 5*!
It was a ride from the beginning to the end. It was thrilling, interesting, intriguing, heartbreaking, funny and soooo hot (I wouldn’t recommend reading it in public lol).
I loved almost all the main characters (yes, Lukas, I’m looking at you) and their insta connection. It feels like a new kind of fated mates - the contemporary kind. I even thought for a bit it would be PNR while reading it for the first time and I loved that about the book.
There are also few interesting twists, some a bit more obvious than others and some characters who deserve to rot in hell.
Oh and the cliffhanger? Damn, why do authors love to torture their readers so much? Can’t they have a little mercy on us? The waiting for the next book is painful enough even without the cliffhanger!
I think it’s safe to say Rebecca came into the book world with a BIG BANG and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!

4.5 ⭐️ Steam: 3.5/5. Strong Language: 2.5/5. Plot: 4.5/5. Characters: 5/5

Triggers: Attempted $exual A$$ault, Mu£der, Domestic Vio!ence, D£ug Abu$e (off page), Child Abu$e

This is the debut, Why Choose, romance novel by Rebecca Rathe. It’s a medical, science fiction story with lots of twists and turns. The writing is fast paced, the story is intriguing, and the characters are engaging. Ms. Rathe maintains a delicate balance of mystery, action, and romance throughout the whole novel.

Our story begins with 'Six', a woman on the run, from a past or person we don't know. She goes to extreme lengths to escape and reach her goal..the protection of 5 men she's never met before. When her body succumbs to all it’s put through, the group around her, assisting her, drawn to her, are these same 5 men. Now that she's found them, can they save each other?

Bennet, Luis, Lukas, Micah, and Jackson appear to have nothing in common from the surface. They are all compelled to help this young woman and fiercely protect her. As the story unfolds, coincidences and unknown connections abound between them. The first being how much each is attracted to 'Six' and wants their new 'family' situation to work. They'll do anything to keep her safe even though her life and their bond remain enigmatic.

Both inside and outside forces are working against them. They'll need to rely on each other to get through it.

This book ends on a cliffhanger. It is significant and I am on the edge of my seat. The book hangover struggle is real.

I loved the characters in the book. They’re extremely relatable and the banter is rich. The care, caution, and love that the guys show for Six is the stuff book boyfriend dreams are made of. They are all in from the beginning, come what may, d€Mn the personal consequences, she is THEIR girl and May The Gods Help You If You Try To Hurt Her. *sigh

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future.
4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it.
3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories.
2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort.
1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a non-biased, honest review.

First of all, this is Rebecca’s book debut, so I’ve never read her work, and I fully and completely enjoyed it (I finished it in a matter of hours). This is the first book in a duet and leaves you wanting more.
The book starts by introducing us to “Jane Doe” as she’s escaping from something/someone and looking for 5 specific men that she plans to save. Once she’s out of danger, she collapses in a park and is saved by 5 strangers… who feel an uncanny connection to her. When she wakes up, she doesn’t remember anything – this book takes us through them trying to figure out who “Jane Doe” is and their unexpected feelings towards her.

Jane Doe… Six… she is tough! No spoilers, but the scene where she removes the tracker… and then keeps going… WOW. Just wow. I’m also somewhat jealous… she has the perfect harem….

Bennet, our controlling, broody alpha who makes me want to be a ‘good girl’…
Jackson, our free spirit with a calming demeanor who may or may not have a record…
Micah, the good guy, our overachiever whose body is like a temple (of muscles)…
Lukas, our sweater vest wearing overthinker who finally stands up for what he wants…
And Luis… oh Luis, our quiet, dangerous, tatted hunk of a man that I absolutely cannot get enough of…

First, I love how connected I feel to Six and her men. The author did an excellent job of providing enough detail so we’re able to know the men as she envisions them. The world building is also incredible (the old B&B is what dreams are made of). She gave us just enough detail so we’re there, in the moment, living the story with them. I know their backgrounds (and their wants and dreams).

This book was fast-paced, drama-filled with an underlying air of mystery. The banter throughout the book was everything – I love the moments when I’m reading and I giggle out loud. The second half of the book amped up the spice level! I can’t wait for more.
Highly recommend this to anyone looking for an extra spicy, dramatic romance. You will not regret it!
Side note: I’m ready for my Lukas/Micah sandwich, but will take a Luis for the main course.

Updated Review for Audiobook:

Highly recommend this audibook narrated by the delightfully talented Bridget and Jake Bordeaux.

It is such great fun to return to my favorite duet with its wonderfully diverse cast of characters that Bridget & Jake voice into a rich new tapestry of story.

All the spice, all the moments of levity, and all the suspense are a fanciful treat for the ears. I know I will be listening to this audio book over and over again to spend time with my favorite family of six.

I couldn't wait for the end of April to come, so I could read Progeny by debut author Rebecca Rathe. The premise, that a woman would would not know her identity but be mysteriously drawn to the 5 MMC, instantly drew me in.

Progeny is a RH romance with a medical mystery plot at the center. There's lots of suspense and steamy scenes (including some MM spice) that kept me on the edge of my seat and thirsting for more.

The author is superb at writing characters that felt interesting and relatable in such a quick amount of time. This impeccable character development is enhanced by humor and a fast paced plot.

Our "Jane Doe", who is vulnerable due to circumstance and trying to learn who she is, is refreshingly strong-willed and determined. Bennet is the seemingly Grumpy, dominant one; Lukas is an overthinker who is also thoughtful and generous and has that nerdy hot thing going for him; Micah has struggled with parental pressure to be perfect; Luis is like the bad boy who is a big softie for his girl; and Jackson is the one who is very insightful but prefers to not take anyhting too seriously.

A perfect mix of character development, sexy scenes, and suspenseful plot. The six characters are inexplicably drawn to each other and can't ignore the strength of their feelings. I was similarly pulled into their story. I feel like I know these characters and I can't wait for the next part of their story.

✅ Suspenseful plot
✅ Instalove w/ sexual tension
✅ Strong FMC
✅ Well developed characters
✅ *chef's kiss* 🌶: Med-fast burn 3.5-4/5🌶
✅ Cliffhanger ending
✅ Excited for the next one!

This is a review for the Duology Progeny, which includes both books. I liked the first book better than the second book. But I had three major hang ups with this Duology:
There was an Epilogue at the beginning of the first book and it mentioned a tracker. The tracker was removed. But the way it was removed was not authentic. I do not want to go into detail here, but if you are interested, read the spoiler.

The next hang up was about DNA and Blood Plasma. All science fact were not explained at all and they don’t seem right.

And my last hang up was that the second book was at least 50% smut. We have an important meeting, wait put some smexy times in. I don’t know how they got anything done with only one thing on their mind?

So you see: There were good ideas in this book, I really wished that science facts would have been researched in great detail to come up with an authentic story line. A lot of things at the end stay unexplained. But there were good ideas too and I liked the slow relationship building in the first book. All in all I’m not gone rate this book, because I really don’t want to give less than 3 stars.

For being Rebecca's first go at it she did such an amazing job! The story line is very intriguing, I have not read a similar one like it before. Her character development was outstanding, in what seemed like such a short time (only because I could not put it down) she had me falling for all the guys! The spice!!! Oh the SPICE!!! There is no way I could pick a favourite scene, they were all completely different but all just as hot. And Rebecca...that cliffhanger...how could you do that to all of us???

(4.5 stars)

What an amazing debut novel from Rebecca Rathe! This story centers on Six (otherwise known as Jane Doe for half of the story) and 5 guys that are mysteriously drawn to her. At the beginning of the book, Six has escaped from an unknown place and is on a mission to warn 5 guys that they are in danger. But, on the way, she has to remove a tracker and this unintentionally gives her amnesia. So, she wakes up in the hospital surrounded by strangers.

The first half is a bit slow, but it's also essential to the character storyline. The guys are mysteriously drawn towards Six but they don't know why. But, they banned together to protect her from her unknown assailants assailants. The 1st half consists of them all bonding and getting to know each other and trying to bring back Six's memories. I really enjoyed the relationship building between Six and the guys. My favorite character was probably Jackson; he just seemed very laid back and sweet. All of the guys had pretty different personalities so it was easy to differentiate them throughout the story, which I appreciated.

The 2nd half of the book is where the action starts. The relationships build between Six and the guys and they try to figure out what exactly is going on. They realize that Six is being pursued but they don't know why exactly, but it has to do with Bennett's father.

Overall I really enjoyed the relationships that Six had between each guy and I enjoyed the plot. It's kind of a mystery the entire time and you're constantly trying to figure out what's going on and why Six is so important. The very last few chapters are kind of a whirlwind which is exciting and it does leave on a cliff hanger. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series.

*I was given this book by the author. I was not obligated to review, and the opinions of this book are entirely my own.*

First off I want to thank the author, Rebecca Rathe, for giving me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Second, I want to say PLEASE check the triggers for this book as it has a fair many.
Now to get into the review itself:

Wow! I mean, I did NOT want to put this book down! I would say it’s a bit of a slow burn in the way that I mean GOD it was a TEASE. That was so hot but had a really interesting plot that had me hooked and wanting more. When I got to the end I had to pause for a moment because I couldn’t believe I’d reached the end. I immediately wanted more. Seriously though that was such a fun, mysterious, and wild ride. I absolutely will be reading book two!

I can’t anymore. Bro just get to the actual plot.

I want to know about Six’s backstory and what was going on in the lab/prison she was held at. Why was she held there? Who took her? How did she escape? How does the relationship with the guys work, why are they so attracted to her? Because it is not a paranormal romance so no fated mates or anything, so why??

But we get zero answers. I don’t care about a tour of the B&B they’re staying in. Or yet another man pining for her and her blushing. We get it. It’s sort of cute and spicy and it’s a reverse harem so there are a lot of guys (and also another m/m relationship inside of the harem that had some drama). But where’s the plot. The blurb sounded much more action like so I’m kinda disappointed. The book was fine just a bit boring. I didn’t connect to the characters at all, the writing was not for me at all. After the first grab of attention at the start of the book, the action just kind of peters out and it becomes boring. I was just waiting for something to happen but it never did.

To know a bit of whats going to happen, I read the first few chapters of the second book and only then you find out why the guys and Six have a bond. So you don’t even get to know about it in the first book. Even after all that talking and thinking about it.

I would just like to sit back and give a round of applause to Rebecca Rathe for writing such an enjoyable and crazy rollercoaster of a book… And it’s her first one!

The first time I heard about Progeny was on one of my book Facebook groups and it was just the blurb. Immediately, I knew I wanted to read this book! So I waited and kept my eye on instagram and what do you know? ARC’s were available to sign-up for and I did just that! And I happen to be one of the lucky people who got to review this book!!

Progeny is a reverse harem book with m/m scenes. I don’t know if this would fall under the mystery or suspense category but it it does have lots of romance. The entire time I was reading, I kept waiting for the next thing to happen that would shock me and it did not disappoint!

My favorite character has to be Lukas because he’s just so dang sweet and understanding!

Now let’s skip to the part where WE WERE LEFT ON A CLIFFHANGER?!?! I can not believe it! Which is totally a lie because I knew it was going to end on a cliffhanger and that there would be a next part to this story but I was in major denial, not wanting this wonderful book to end. I caught myself constantly putting the book down so I didn’t rush through it and end up with any story left to read but it was really hard to not keep reading a book when it’s so dang good!!

Thank you again to Rebecca Rathe for the ARC and I can’t wait till the next book Retribution comes out to devour that one as well!!!

I got this on free stuff your kindle day and I was surprised by how good it was and unexpected at the beginning. I went in pretty blind to this sci fi reverse harem. I loved the depth of the background romance between two of the males. I thought all the male characters were pretty well written and distinctive. I liked Luis and Bennet, who I kept wanting to call North due to the parallel character in Broken Bonds. The spicy scenes were lots of fun and I could see the appeal on the surface.

Like I said, enjoyed the beginning but then it quickly became obvious that the good ole amnesia plot device was being used in order to avoid having to write a personality for the heroine. Boy was she a flat personality and product of the male gaze. She is basically horny and vulnerable as character traits. She ends up having abilities but no innate characteristics or interests or vices or quirks. Memory loss does not change personalities. She is basically a doll.

Too much time was spent on medical details of her recovery. Many chapters were explained again from alternate POVs over mundane parts which made the story move at a snail’s pace.

The most annoying thing to me is that there are soooo many reverse harem stories written with white silver haired women with abilities in paranormal settings. And I can’t help but compare them all to the Broken Bonds series and find them to be far inferior. I don’t regret checking this book out or finishing it, but I don’t care to read on to find what happens next in the series.

I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rebecca gave us SO MUCH build up for the release of this book, & I couldn't wait until it was released!

I'll start with the bad:

The story itself is pretty intriguing, but I did sometimes struggle to wrap my head around certain aspects. Like her being so down to be with the guys after going through whatever trauma she went through. I get she can't remember is except for blurbs when she has her nightmares, but still is all up for anything with them despite this.

The good (so much good):
I'm not usually a fan of slow burners, but this one started out with the sexual tension pretty early on, so I didn't mind it that much. I like the dynamic she has with all the boys, & how it's different with all of them. The storyline gave stranger things vibes at times, not in a super-powers sense, but more the whole "secret government facility, doing experiments & tattooing numbers on her" sense.

The spice is pretty mild compared to other RH I've read, but I think it's a good build-up for the sequel.

All in all, Progeny was an enjoyable read, & I think Rebecca did a fantastic job for her first book.

BUT, she said it ends on a small cliffhanger....WOMAN HOW DARE YOU THINK THAT WAS SMALL!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I can't believe this is Rebecca's debut book!!! I've been looking forward to this book, and I was not disappointed!!

Progeny is the first book in a duet, and the cliffhanger will have you wanting to throw your Kindle!!

I was instantly obsessed from the first page. "Jane Doe" is running from someone and is trying to get to the men from photos she saw to save them.

She ends up passing out and is rushed to the hospital by 5 strangers that feel a pull to be near her. She can't remember who she is or what she was running from, but the guys promise to help her.

Bennet is the controlling alpha that like to use "good girl", Jackson goes with the flow and has dirty thoughts, Lukas overthinks but now just wants to go after what he wants, Micah is the muscly sweetheart, and Luis my sweet, hot, tattooed, monster c**k having love of my life. All these guys feel for Six, and bring different things to her that she needs.

The world building and descriptions are perfect!! I could picture everything perfectly in my head. I love how confident Six becomes over the course of the book, and how the guys make sure she knows how beautiful she is.

Progeny is an AMAZING read, and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! I can't wait for the next book!!

Woooo, This book. If you like a slow build into some spicy spice 🔥this book is for you. A girl escapes somewhere to protect 5 men she doesnt even know. Coincidentally they all find her after an accident and she has no memories of her life prior. This is a Reverse Harem with 5 men and some man on man action as well.

Throughout this book I was screaming at my kindle my predictions and writing them down in my notebook, haha. I am that booknerd that takes pages and pags of notes and thoughts when I read. hehe.

This book will be arriving to the Kindle Unlimited universe on May 1st and it is honestly so worth the read. I like a good story along with my spice and this book definitely delivers on the deep plot line that leaves you screaming at the end.

I am so beyond grateful to Rebecca for allowing me an advance copy of this book to read and review. As her debut work I am so impressed and astonished in her ability to suck you into a story so quickly.

This is a spicy romance with a reverse harem and some MM scenes as well. There are some soft triggers that you should be aware of, sexual assault, physical and mental trauma/abuse, and parental issues with sexuality.

Freshman author (first time author) Ms Rathe, hit it out of the park. I found myself thinking about the unanswered questions several days after I finished this book.. even when I was on to a couple of books beyond it... our FMC only known as "six" right now, has lost all memory... and now is surrounded by 5 delicious guys that are drawn to her and she to them. There are other factors at play here... but I can't tell you, where would the fun be in that? There's some mystery, some science-y genetic stuff.... and my guess is that there is more to come. Also, if you don't like cliff hangers, I warned you. I can't wait to get some of my questions answered, and to see what happens next!

I recieved this book as an Arc Read

This book captivated me from the very first page. We first meet 'Jane Doe' while she is on the run. She is desperate to get to 5 men to help save them from the people who had her. They end up flocking to her when she collapses in a park to help her. Almost instantly they feel an instense need to protect her and do all they can to save her from her past. We watch Bennet, Luis, Lukas, Micah and Jackson all develop connections to 'Jane Doe' while also on a journey of discovery. It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you needing to know what happens next.

First, let me say, I was honored to be a ARC reader for this amazing author. It was such a pleasure reading this story and I am hooked!

Let’s talk main characters. FMC, I won’t say her name, it’s part of the story. Total badass with no memory. Love her spirit, want to learn stuff as fast as she does.

Bennett - Jackson - Luis - Lukas - Micah

From word one they are there to support her and are her biggest champions. There’s so many elements of the guys, and with each POV we learn more.

Spicy scale: this book starts out tame but really beats up. There is MM in the book and I love the additional layer it brings. You’ll see what I mean.

There are twists and turns I never saw coming, and I binge read it. Cannot wait for the next book! It’s going to be so good.

I was excited to read this story by debut Author Rebecca Rathe and it did not disappoint. The world and characters are so well developed and really feel like you would know them in real life. Ms. Rathe's writing style is easy to read and relate to. The plot to steam ratio was spot on and kept me turning the page needing to know what would happen next. It is a nice change to see that most of the conflict for the main characters come from outside the group. The men are draw to our FMC without understanding why and from the first moment exist for her. Who wouldn't want that! This is the first book and does end on a cliffhanger. I'm impatiently waiting for book 2.

I received and arc in exchange for an honest review.

OMG! What a ride. This book had everything you could want. The mystery surrounding “Jane Doe” and the terrible life she has lived until she meets her guys. The connection between her and the guys is chef kiss. I like how the mystery is unraveled a little at time but that causes more questions to rise. I enjoyed the multiple points of view. This books is action pact from cover to cover. There are some tigger warnings so be sure to know those before diving I . I cannot wait for this story to continue.

**ARC Review**

Progeny is an enticing introduction to a new world. Our main protagonist is mysterious, sexy and an all-out badass, both encouraging the reader to love her and want to be her.

The male protagonists are equally sexy, with distinct and relatable motivations, and clearly distinguishable voices within the novel.

The storyline is tight and gripping, the spicy scenes are thigh-clenchingly good, and the dialogue is incredibly entertaining.

Rathe has outdone herself with Progeny, and it will be so good to see where book two leads us.

Wow. Just wow! This book will ensnare you from the first page. These characters are fantastic! Each guy's character development is so good you will fall in love with their quirks and personalities. Each so different but so incredibly realistic. The FMC is a fighter, which I love. It is awesome to see her develop confidence as you go. The action (and steam!) is plentiful and the plot is unpredictable and so engaging. I will be biting my nails, impatiently waiting for book 2!

Ok I got this as a wonderful ARC read and it did not disappoint.
Starters I gave it four because it was basically an introductory book and had the slice and connection and the mystery build up but I know that the next one will be even better!
The introduction and follow through on each of the characters is exactly what I hope for in such a well thought out character development. The build for the story and characters didn’t drag and leave you wanting more it was given throughout the process to guide you along their journey. The slice was so damn tantalizing and delicious at the same time. Rebecca gave you something to scratch the itch if you will but you need more. I overall loved this book and was excited to read such a funny, sexy and mysterious book!

What an incredible debut book!

Six is an outstanding FMC, so strong and tough and her men are everything you could want (I'd like a Luis please.. and a Bennet!)
The storyline is fast packed and interesting - the questions build up throughout the book but bewarned, it ends on a cliffhanger so I'm now desperately waiting for book 2. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for an action packed mystery romance 🥰

What a de-beauty for this Author!
I mean if you like 5 man candy Monday’s, a sexy FMC who trusts these men that her mind wont remember but she would do anything for them, and them for her…

Oh, you do?

How about MM and MMF explicit content, with some “Good girls” thrown in?

Still? You are a bit K*nky, welcome to the club.

Well let me prepare you for this journey. First, you’ll need a fan. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. Secondly, you’ll need Gatorade. For some reason I became ravenous for it.

Most important thing you need to remember… After Progeny, you’ll never be the same.

Spice level 5.

Progeny

I've been dying to read this since I read the blurb. This is the authors debut book and I have to say it was absolutely amazing! . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . "Six" or Progeny is a strong female lead. She had to warn Luis, Bennet, Lukas, Miach, and Jackson. She has fought and escaped just for this but she knows they are tracking her so she knows she has to get rid of it before she goes to them. She ends up with amnesia and can't remember who she is or why she's there. Jackson finds her but all the guys are are there when he finds her. They all have a strange pull/connection to her but don't know why. This is such a twisty and suspense filled book. There is so much unknown and I can't wait for book 2!
