With full-color artwork throughout, this funny and charming diary-format early chapter book is perfect for anyone who believes a furry pal is the best kind of friend.
We got this off the "new book shelf" at the library, and M loved the story and the pictures. It's technically a chapter book, but there are multiple pictures on each page. M liked that Bub was trying to train a puppy. High marks from M.
Bella will be puppy sitting for grandma for a whole week. Bubs, Bella's pug, is excited to meet little Harlow. Grandma says that Harlow is a handful and so she's planning on sending him to dog school after she gets back from vacation. However, being a dog, Bubs thinks that teaching a brand new puppy is going to be super easy. However, it is not as glamorous nor easy to teach a young dog new tricks as Bubs had imagined.
Bubs learns some humility and some good lessons from this story, remembering that he once was a young and mischievous pup himself, and had made some very similar mistakes as well.
Bella is puppy sitting for her Grandma. Little Harlow is very cute, but not very well behaved. Grandma has her scheduled for puppy school when she comes back. Bella thinks that she and Jack can train the puppy. Bub thinks he would be the best one to do puppy training, but Harlow is proving a tough student for everyone.
Harlow is a cute and very believable little destructive tornado. A humorous and fun new adventure for Bub and Bella (and good warning for any family considering getting a puppy). I like how even Duchess and Nutz get in on the training.
I normally give all kids books 5 stars that I read my daughter. That being said this had way too many puns. This seems to be the only one in the series going over board with it. I love these books especially having a pug ourself but this is my least favorite book for that reason.
Bella's Nana gets a new puppy named Harlow, and Bella watches her for a week. Bub, Duchess, Luna and Nutz all try to teach her at Bella's puppy school. I really enjoyed seeing Duchess and Nutz interact, and also I enjoyed how Nutz was more of a protagonist instead of an antagonist in this book.
