She’s taken herself out of the dating game. He’s the king of meaningless relationships. Will a late-night meeting change their minds about love?
Briony’s last boyfriend was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Jumping off the dating merry-go-round was a no-brainer. That decision sent shock waves through her nearest and dearest. She doesn’t expect them to understand. They’ve never walked in her shoes. They don’t know how stressful dating is when there’s a monkey on your back. It’s never been a matter of if the ax will fall, but when and what form it’ll take. A girl can only handle so much rejection before she stops believing there’s a happily-ever-after in her future.
A dozen years in the NFL made Hollis a household name. These days he’s famous for two turning a nearly-bankrupt regional sporting goods chain into a highly successful national brand and being a heartless playboy. The first is an indisputable fact. The second is a label that’s only as accurate as who’s being asked. Hollis never lies to women about his intentions. He makes it clear he’s not interested in walking down the aisle. Is it his fault no one believes him?
I'm a Georgia girl at heart if not by birth. I love to read, watch college football, and spend time with my husband. I'm a hopeless romantic so there will always be a happily ever after in my stories. I also like to write about second chances because love doesn't always work out the first time.
This 5th installment in the Sawgrass series has two people, flawed in different ways & wounded by romance, who become friends and then gradually more.
It was fun - and a relief - to see this different view of Hollis from the brief, smarmy appearance he made in No Matter What & realize that he's not a user, he's just what you might call a surfer rather than a deep sea diver when it comes to romance.
Briony is opposite Hollis in many ways, but their differences have complimentarity, and it works for them. She's got an awkward secret that was at the root of her last breakup, however, and she's convinced that it means she's unlovable & unmarriageable - especially to a guy like Hollis.
The development of their relationship is so true to life & believable, that it was easy to immerse into the story & not want it to end.
The story works just fine as a standalone, but I did enjoy the guest appearances of characters from the previous books & hearing a little about how they're doing.
All in all, this was a dose of pure happiness & a definite new entry for my rereads list!
I have enjoyed the entire series so far. I can’t pick a favorite. Briony was so sweet and relatable. She was just what Hollis needed. I’m glad that Hollis was unlike the other leading men before him. He did not shy away from speaking his mind, which was refreshing. One of my favorite aspects was that they built the relationship on friendship. Once again another great book! Thank you.
Delaney Cameron has done it once again. A sweet, simple and clean read. The characters were wonderful and had such chemistry. Fun names to boot...Briony and Hollis. Love it. Love the whole back story and how they became friends. Her convictions. The way he encouraged and supporters her. This was good from the first word to the last.
I love the Sawgrass series. I was so happy to see Hollis get his own happy ending. I was not disappointed! Briony is perfect for him and loved her and his chemistry. Thank you, Delaney for another amazing story!
Briony and Hollis were adorable together. I loved how they could each strengthen each other to be the best versions of themselves. Humorous and sweet, with a cast of characters you just want to know better.
Briony and Hollis are a very fun couple. I loved their meet cute! The pull these two share is a lot of fun. The book had chemistry and character and I highly recommend it to anyone searching for a good book to curl up with.
A former pro athlete, rich, entitled and more down-to-earth than one would think, meets a tall beauty with her own secrets and insecurities. He is able to break down her walls while demolishing his own.
Who would have thought that Hollis, a billionaire, would fall in love with a cake decorator etc. But he did and she did. It is an amazing love story. Enjoy the clean life these two led.
What a sweet, clean book! Found totally by accident, but will probably read others in the series. A wonderful break from heavier reading. Great characters.
