Larissa is the child of two worlds. She is a witch and a vampire… Witches fear her… Vampires want her blood.... and to complicate matters, she is in love with a human, which is forbidden by both.
Larissa now knows what is after her and why, and, with the help of her new family at the coven, has survived an attempt to gain what it wants. If only life were simple and that was the end of it.
While its threat constantly looms overhead, many questions still haunt Larissa. The more she learns about her past, the more questions arise from both her and other interested parties, such as the Council of Mages who are not sure what to make of this immortal sister of theirs; they are far from ready to welcome her in with open arms.
Larissa has to tight rope a delicate search for the truth of her past, where she needs to know the truth, but may not like what she finds. Only the truth can truly set her free of her and the council’s questions, but Nathan is concerned her continued focus on the past will interfere with any kind of future they may have.
Read to find out if Larissa finds the truths she needs about her past, present, and future, and what answers those truths bring about the great power struggle for she finds herself in the center of.
David Clark is an author of multiple self-published horror novels and anthologies (amazon genre top 100) and can be found in 3 published horror anthologies. His writing focuses on the suspense, horror and sci-fi genres with a writing style takes a story based on reality, develops characters the reader can connect with and pull for, and then sending the reader on a roller-coaster journey the best fortune teller cannot predict. He feels his job is done if the reader either gasps, makes a verbal reaction out loud, throws the book across the room, or hopefully all three.
Family does not allows have to be formed from blood. Larissa is finding that out within this story and its fun to watch it unfold. She has gained a new family within the walls of her "school" while coming to terms with the truth about her birth parents and the parents she knew, the Norton's. She is finding her own path in life with the help of friends and teachers while also trying to piece together her past. Larissa is not one who easily trusts or lets others in but this story proves that family can be built and not just born into.
Not used to having a large family that cares about you and looks out for you may lead you to think of it as you against the world. What would you do if suddenly you had that large family? What if you thought you were placing them in danger? That is what Larissa Dubois faces. Read this book and discover her choices.
I am very impressed with this story. The characters all have their own voices and the world building is great. I had a hard time putting this book down. Poor Larissa just can't catch a break with the Council. They don't want to believe that she was simply cared for by the Nortons and put her through quite a bit of painful stuff trying to prove their point that she's dangerous to the Coven. She does, however, get her memories back, which I thought was very creatively done and I quite enjoyed. I'm really looking forward to book 3!
This story repeated itself quite a bit more than book one. There wasn't a ton of development in this book but when there was the story certainly picked up. I was debating on reading the next book but this one ended on a cliffhanger. So now I want to know what's up with HR new student.
There's a couple description inconsistencies. The young girl was said to have light blonde hair but the cover art showed brown hair. And I noticed it bounced between those in the book as well.
The Shape of Things to Come (Coven Cove Book 2) ❤️🔥
The Shape of Things to Come (Coven Cove Book 2) ❤️🔥❤️🔥 absolutely loved this book!! I totally enjoyed listening 🎧 and reading this book to this series!!! The story line is engrossing and the characters are well developed. I can't wait to start reading and listening to the next book in the series!. Definitely recommend this series and David Clark -he is amazing author ..
Brilliant storyline. How Larissa keeps her control is amazing. Feel sure she would like to sort the council out once and for all. Part of the interesting viewpoint is how all the different individuals are blending to create a family. The loss of both sets of parents, makes life complex, and how does she keep them separate in her mind as to who was protecting her.
Well this just keeps getting better and better. Not only is this a unique take on a paranormal tale but written perfectly. Larissa is such a strong role model but also struggles with things lots do and emotions play a huge part in life it’s getting the balance that’s difficult. What is going to happen is she strong enough to take on Jean?
When I read a book I really get into the as if I was one of the characters.. I felt bad for Larissa every time the council was coming to visit.. I wanted to slap Sarah roberts for being so cruel and the rest of the council seemed to not want to listen.. I’m glad she found the letter from mrs. Norton. Onto book 3.
I am still on the fence with this one. Book two is much better than book one, but I'm still not sure about continuing the series. I just find that I really haven't formed any attachment to the characters or the story yet. I'm going to put the series down for a bit and maybe try coming back to it again later.
I would recommend this to pre teen girls. It shows that there is more to families then the people you are related to and how they come together during times of need.
Not quite so great yarn continues with more exploration of character’s history. Still well written good yarn, but slightly wordy in places, hence a little text skipping to help not get bogged down.
Really love her story and the personalities she put into the characters! Few grammatical errors and a section or two that doesn’t make sense. Other than that amazing book!!
This was okay. I think it’s definitely a case of me not the book since all the other reviews are really good. Again I found this slow going. I can’t see me continuing on with this series.
The second book in the series carried Larissa and her coven mates into more adventures while learning to control their abilities, and accept themselves and each other.
Uhhhhhh…nothing happened. This series has a habit of drawing things out and then QUICKLY rapping up the battle with whomever the big bad is at the end.
This is book two and what a book, simply amazing. Couldn't put this down from start to finish. It is full of adventure and twists. So exciting. You really are on the edge of your seat to read on how it goes on and how it ends. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do. Really I did. Read it and make up your own mind about it. I received this ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Book 2 of this great series. Larissa is still being put through the wringer by the Counsil. What is their problem?? Do they REALLY think she is THAT big of a danger to everyone? Is Mrs. Norton Alive?
Larissa just wants her memories back, know if Mrs Norton is alive, and Why did they turn her? Did they kill her parents? A vampire and a witch, loves a human. Then we have sweet Amy that is added to the mix.
I can't wait for book 3, tho it's going to be 2 more months, coming June 2022. A great YA read for everyone that enjoys sweet love and a little bit of mystery and intrigue, with a side of pettiness (you'll know it when you see it!)
Truthfully, I like this Book 2 more than Book 1 in the series, although they both hold the readers’ interest. The ending to Shape of Things to Come was a great plot twist and cliffhanger! My only suggestion to the author would be to insert a sentence here and there to remind us of characters and places from Book 1. Sometimes it was hard to remember the story flow, since months have passed since I read Book 1.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I have read this book and giving my honest review. What a book 2 was awesome Could not put this down from start to end , full of adventure, twists a vampire witch. Was so exciting. You really was on the edge of your seat, I am not spoiling I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
Coven Cove book 2 has Larissa settling in and learning the ways of her new life. This story gave me more information about Larissa's past and I like that we get clues about what is to come. The adventure continues. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
The Shape of Things to Come, the second novel in the Coven Cove series is a good paranormal tale. Larissa is a vampire…and a witch, which is putting her at odds with the Council of Mages. And if that is not enough, she is in love with a human. The Council seems determined to vilify Larissa’s past, claiming she is a danger to the Coven. All is not as it appears however, when some of the Mages are determined to falsify evidence. How can this young girl be such a threat to them? Larissa and her friends will go to great lengths to prove her innocence, but danger is lurking very near…. Welcome to Coven Cove, a book full of intrigue, action, adventure, and great characters. Filled with twists and turns, this book does not slow down from start to finish. As with all of David Clark’s books, this is a great read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
In book 2 of the Coven Cover series, Larissa finds herself trying to adust to her new way of life. She finds that, apart from the obligatory "mean girls" that not everyone is happy at her appearance. We learn more about Larissa's past and what may come in the future. I like that the book looks ahead to what may come. Again, although written more for a YA audience, I enjoyed the tale. The introduction of interesting new characters has me wondering what is coming next.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is a great second book of a series. The main character is starting to settle into her circumstances and we as readers get to experience her trials and tribulations as she navigates life as a witch and a vampire. I found this book so interesting.
