The rules are simple: Don’t fall in love with Grant Bradley.

PEYTON

Call me cynical, but I truly believe the perfect guy doesn’t exist.

Which is why it bugs me when people faun over A-list celebrities like Grant Bradley… with his stupid British accent and perfect manners and symmetrical bone structure. His entire act is as real as the fictional heroes he plays in the movies. Ugh, it makes me want to vom.

But hey, at least it makes my job easier—his manager did say she would only hire me as his stylist under the condition I don’t fall for him. No. Problem.

And not only will I not fall for him, but I’ll prove to the world that this guy is not the person he pretends to be. He’s got skeletons hiding behind his well-polished façade, and I’m going to find them.

GRANT

I’m used to people judging me before they actually meet me, but I’ve never had someone dislike me quite so much as Peyton Chen.

Yet… the more time I spend with her, the more I feel like she is the one person I could confide in.

And then there’s the feeling I have when we find ourselves on the dancefloor, with our bodies pressed together…

I did not like this book as much as I hoped I would like celebrity and his stylist? Instantly sounded good until of course a whole bunch of issues came up.

(Warning I may get extremely heated especially over that stupid article thing)

- Payton and her boyfriend broke up and she still lives with him because it’s cheaper and ok. But then she constantly gets annoyed when he brings girls home even though they’ve literally broken up and she was the one to end things.

- Grant’s manager Karen is actually so dumb. The thing is, they’re trying to find a stylist who won’t fall in love with Grant. They hired Peyton because she wouldn’t fall in love with Grant but she’s single and straight woman like obviously that doesn’t mean she’ll fall in love with Grant but she probably has a higher chance than say a middle aged married woman with a family or like a super straight guy I doubt those people would fall in love with him.

- now this next part is seriously so annoying looking back in it after finishing the book. This stupid tiny insignificant moment sets off a bunch of issues for the rest of the book and finally the big problem and it is so DUMB! Grant leaves the meeting and Peyton says:

“Seriously? He talks to me for two seconds and decides I’m not good enough? Jerk.”

You actually don’t know why he left there was no indication it’s because he thought you weren’t good enough maybe he has a meeting, maybe he’s hungry, maybe he need to take a dump who knows. And technically he’s not in charge of hiring the stylist to YEAH.

Ofc Peyton gets hired because she called Grant a snob or whatever even though as we just talked about all he did was leave the meeting early and Karen thinks oh she just hates him.

SEE exactly Grant thought that Peyton would be dismissed because he saw that Karen wasn’t impressed by her so he left because he didn’t feel like he needed to be here after many other people applying. Also I find it very hard to believe how out of everyone they’ve ever hired every single one of them showed interest in him or made ‘sex eyes’ at him like wouldn’t they be a bit more professional than that? And also back to what I said before, it’s so easy to hire someone whose situation would mean they wouldn’t fall in love with Grant what is your strategy here Karen?? Higher every single woman out there and then be surprised when they fawn over Grant when their minority is most likely to do that???

“Well I don’t know why she doesn’t like me. She doesn’t bloody know me.”

Mhm exactly right Grant and also Karen shut up

“Aw, come on now. You’re not upset, are you?” Karen says, patting me on the shoulder.”

He has a right to be upset this rando stranger girl just straight up doesn’t like him and he has no idea why because yes she literally doesn’t know him and it’s not like he actually did something stupid to her he literally DID NOTHING

I hate it when the author tries to add in some enemies to lovers or something when the girl doesn’t like the guy and vice versa to make it a slow burn but the whole reason for why they hate each other in the first place is STUPID!! Anything else that could be a bit better than just her making up her mind after one interaction where they didn’t even say anything to each other

And then he doesn’t like her outfit choices because he thinks he’ll look too fruity 😭

Plssss if I’ve ever seen anything on those people criticising men’s wear on the red carpet is that people would much rather enjoy fruity over boring ass black suit and tie.

Ok but this whole passage:

“I’m perfectly capable of dressing myself,” he says flatly.

“Really? Who styled you for the Disadvantaged Youths Charity Fundraiser last month, with the army-green checkered jacket and tie?”

(I cannot even IMAGINE that outfit)

“I did,” he says, bringing his hands behind his back.

“Right. Well that outfit needs to be set on fire. You looked like a middle-aged leprechaun trying on his first pair of jeans.”

Ok go off Peyton

“In fact, I don’t know you at all. So, forgive me for not wanting to give you unlimited access to my home and property.”

Doesn’t matter Peyton is stupid again she literally expects Grant to give her the passcode for his gates…. ARE YOU KIDDING?

And Grant replies very well as seen from the quote above. It is perfectly reasonable for him to not want to share the codes to his whole mansion and everything inside with his stylist who he met two days ago.

Ok but what the heck is this scene? Peyton is infuriating! She decides to share literally her whole life about how her mum left her or whatever but the context of which the information is shared in makes me not give a fuck.

All this and for what? Because the guy doesn’t want to give you his code to literally access his multimillion dollar mansion and he says you don’t give out copies of your key do you? And Peyton says that’s not the same thing when it actually is the same thing. Then she’s all guilt tripping him left and right saying “wouldn’t want to let the poor workers know the password” and that’s literally so wrong and his choice is so normal and just so reasonable that you can’t possibly argue against it like what the heck???

Avery is the shitiest person ever she’s literally writing an article about how Grant sucks and Peyton is going to dig around and break her contract and she could go to jail for it STOP do not tell me this privacy invader cash grabbing bitch gets her own book-

She gets her own book.

I hate Avery so much. It is just infuriating hearing her talk about that STUPID article she wants to write about. I hate it I hate it so much. This plot point actually has potential though it would be so Avery could be the villain and she like coerced Peyton into doing it and then she keeps doing it because Avery like manipulates her or something and then Avery goes to jail or something but no. Avery will most likely not pay for what she did because she’s getting a fucking book and her own love story so obviously she’s meant to look like a good guy BUT NOT TO ME!!! Duck you Avery I do not support anyone who exploits a human beings private life for money and they are literally doing it for “extra cash” yes ofc these privileged ladies who are living in the slums aka an apartment with no maintenance issues, clean water, food, and Peyton is even living at her ex’s place FOR FREE. They are literally going out of their way to dig up this poor guys life so Avery can get a FUCKING JUICY STORY LIKE WHAT THE HECK!!!

AND YOU PEYTON you are a scumbag as well for exploiting your position as someone who has easy access to this guys private life to MAKE QUICK CASH WOW AND ALL TO PROVE THAT HE IS NOT A GOOD PERSON EVEN THOUGH HE HAS DONE NOTHING TO YOU BUT LEAVE A MEETING EARLY FOR A REASON YOU DONT EVEN KNOW AND BECAUSE HE HAS AN OPINION OVER WHAT HE HIM HIS BODY WANTS TO WEAR OMG I HATE HER AND AVERY SO MUCH WHATTTTT Sorry it’s in caps

They find out he might’ve lied about going to a performing arts school and they think it’s the craziest thing ever and now OMGG they’re one step closer to figuring out that he’s a bad person because he lied about his education even though you still literally don’t know a single thing about him and why he could’ve lied it could’ve been family issues, like his family was in a bad place so he had to make money quickly by acting and the only way to get into the industry is to lie about his education or something like that y’know? Just anything Peyton USE YOUR BRAIIINNN OMG

THESE PEOPLE TRUST YOU KAREN HIRED YOU BECAUSE SHE TRUSTED YOU TO BE IN HIS PERSONAL SPACE AND HERE SHE IS GOING TO EXPLOIT THAT TRUST AND DIG AROUND SOMETHING WHEN SHE SHOULD BE MINDING HER OWN DARNN BUSINESS!!!

Ok calming down now.

Just kidding

“I don’t know what Avery has or hasn’t told you, but Grant is hiding something. And we’re going to find out what it is. And when we do, maybe you’ll realize that heroes and perfect men only exist in movies.”

HIDING WHAT PEYTON??? FUCKING WHAT??? WHAT IS HE HIDING AND WHAT HAS HE DONE TO YOU I DONT GET IT her reasoning is not compelling it’s not reasonable it’s stupid and she’s extremely immature. GET A LIFE she has no reason to suspect he’s hiding anything he has done literally nothing except be hot and famous BE SO SERIOUS!!!

Alright so her boyfriend just somehow got into her room you’d think a five star hotel has better security than this but whatever.

Babes your friends don’t JUDGE you for dating Jaxon they’re concerned for you they’re telling you he’s abusive

“I’m sure I’ll find a way to help Avery out with the story without getting too involved, but I can’t completely abandon her. This piece could be big for her career, and she’s basically my little sister.”

No no no no no Peyton please you don’t have to help anyone if it means they’re going to such extreme lengths to help their career if someone is doing this frankly they don’t deserve a career tell Avery to stop what she’s doing she sucks

I don’t give a fuck if you list your job Avery HUMAN MORALS SHOULS COME BEFORE THAT you cannot make me read her romance next and expect me to think she’s a good person when she decides that a job is more important than the privacy, safety, wellbeing, and emotions of a real life person. I guarantee you she’s coming out with that story and instead of going to JAIL she’s going to get her own happily ever after

I don’t think the author thought this through. We’re obviously supposed to feel bad for Peyton that Grant has broke up with her and that he “got the story wrong Peyton was never in the wrong” EXCEPT SHE IS OMG I LITERALLY TOLD EVERYONE FROM THE START HOW STUPID PEYTON IS how is she this dumb and stupid???! HOW CAN SOMEONE BE THAT DUMB and to claim that she’s not that naive even though she spilled everything about someone’s PRIVATE IDENTITY TO A TABLOID COMPANY AND WAS SHOCKED WHEN IT GOT RELEASED SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU ABSOLUTE DING BAT

Grant is in the trenches right now not just the ones in his movie. This ducking stylist dumped all his personal information to a tabloid company, everyone’s villainising him even though they’re ignoring the fact that HIS PARENTS DIED HE WAS PUT IN SHITTY FOSTER HOMES HE WAS LITERALLY ALL ALONE and Karen dropped him as a client so now he has no manager. Fuck you Peyton you’re the shittiest person I’ve ever read.

So Avery didn’t release the story but SHE STILL INSTIGATED EVERYTHING SO I STILL HATE YOU

Ok but imagine if this is how it actually went: Avery is the villain and she coerces Peyton into doing the article for money because Jaxon is threatening to kick her out of the apartment. She agrees and every time she digs up something she feels more and more guilty but Avery keeps getting her to do it in a really manipulative way. And before Peyton can stop it Avery publishes it and Peyton admits to her mistake and third act break up happens Grant is mad etc. then Peyton apologises like seriously apologises stops being friends with Avery and then Grant forgives her and yeah.

And Grant forgives her WAY too easily, miss girl just outed your entire traumatic childhood to the world and you didn’t get a say in it.

This is just a good story to learn: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover Ik it’s cliche but it’s true this whole thing happened just because Peyton didn’t like how Grant was rich and hot so she instantly decided she didn’t like him for no reason.

Personal information is exactly that. PERSONAL don’t go around trying to dig up information you don’t have a right too.

Would you rather date a movie star or a musician? ⁣
⁣I value my privacy far too much to date either in real life, but I'm all for living vicariously through the pages! ⁣

Celebrity romances are so much fun and one I recently enjoyed was THE A-LISTER by Aussie author @tabitha_bree⁣

I loved the gradual development of Peyton & Grant's relationship, from an enemies-to-lovers dynamic to friendship, then something more. Peyton made some questionable decisions, but I warmed to her as the book progressed - took away half a star because I thought Grant forgave her a little too easily! The chemistry between Peyton & Grant was 🔥 and I loved that their story transported me to wonderful locations, including one of my faves Italy! 😍 ⁣

Tabitha Bree has such an engaging and addictive writing style, she hooks you in from the start with her humour, relatable characters and depth to her stories. #TheALister touches on toxic relationships and I appreciated how @tabitha_bree portrayed the complicated cycle of emotional abuse. ⁣

THE A-LISTER can be read as a standalone, but I'll definitely be going back and reading the rest of the Hollywood Hearthrobs series #TheALister has me craving more books by Tabitha Bree and her fantastic characters... I've enjoyed every book that I've read of hers!⁣

What to expect:⁣
🎬 forced proximity⁣
🎬 opposites attract⁣
🎬 celebrity romance ⁣
🎬 enemies-to-lovers ⁣
🎬 travel ⁣

If this all sounds great to you, I definitely recommend picking up THE A-LISTER and settling in for a heartwarming read. ⁣

Thanks @tabitha_bree for providing an eARC for review.

When writing a book about an English man, you should attempt to stay in England for at least a month and get to learn their lingo. No English ma'am calls himself a Brit. No English man says Cheerio, that's just in the movies.
Heck, y'all is spelled with an apostrophe after the "y", not "ya'll" (chapter 2).
By chapter 24 there's no sex, so I'm guessing this sweet and simple author doesn't do sex in her books which is not my cup of tea (which for the record is Tetley's with a few cubes of sugar and more than a splash of milk, which is the proper English way).
Aside from all this, this has so far been a SWEET and mostly well written (you need a better editor and I strongly volunteer, there's bad grammar all around, writing "ever" instead of "even", small things like that but take me out of the book because I shouldn't have to edit and I should be able to stay in this fantastic fairy tale that you have written).
Anyways, if small things like that don't bother you then you should definitely read this because like I said, aside from all this by chapter 24, it is a cute book.

I couldn't finish the book, it was a very frustrating read for me. The main character is very inconsistent. One moment men are trash, the next she's getting walked all over by her ex, you turn the page and she's contemptuous of the male lead, her employer for issues that seemed related to her ex, then she's sleeps with her ex. It was just a lot of back and forth that made the heroine seem inconsistent, hypocritical, and shady. Especially since she's ready to sell out her employer at the earliest opportunity even though it would be detrimental to her gaining her own independence.

Enemies-to-Lovers done well.
I enjoyed the development of Payton and Grant's relationship in this book. I must admit I fell for Grant at the same pace as Payton.
The angst was well written too.
I liked that while youet characters from other books in the series it was very easy to read as a stand-alone.
It was a slow simmer with a wee bit of spice sprinkled in. Enough to keep you invested in the relationship at least.
Looking forward to reading more from this universe.

Very cute, fast read. Should contain a trigger warning for emotional abuse, but I felt like it was handled well. Both MCs are likeable and the development of their friendship feels quite natural.

Some issues with synonyms (accept/except, hypercritical/hypocritical, for example) that should have been caught by a proofreader.

This book needs more love! No, it doesn’t boldly go where no rom-com has gone before, but that’s not why most of us read rom-coms. If you want an easy read for a lazy Sunday, check it out. Available on KU.

3.75* Okay...this was surprisingly really good with a decent plotline, and I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. I also really enjoyed having the two POVs and it being enemies to lovers <3 This book was nothing groundbreaking in the romance genre, but it was a sweet, enjoyable, and easy read.

Do you feel like a break? Like spending time with some perfect strangers who you wanna include to your circle of friends after only a few pages? Then this is your book.

Oh, I cant tell you how much I liked the main characters. Peyton is a badass but in kind of a very bad place when she meets Grant, movie star and a “snooty, obnoxious hotshot” if you can trust Peyton’s view of things. She’s not only MET Grant, she’s been picked to be his stylist and follows him around the world!

Argh, getting to know both POV’s brought the story even more to life. Peyton - (first)annoyed, cheeky and scratchy - dealing with (first) grumpy and stubborn Grant made me chuckle so many times. I loved their dynamic!! Witnessing them getting (secretly) closer felt even better. It came with so many surprising happenings which kept me on edge and added so much depth to the story I couldn’t put it down. (I won’t even get started on Jaxon and Serena😡).

Let me sum it up: With each person comes a past and normally secrets - sometimes they are bigger than being imagined.

This is the 4th book in the Hollywood Heartthrobs series but can easily been read as a standalone!!
