Ghosts

Rate this book
There's a ghost in your house. There has been since you moved in.

You bought magnets for the fridge, sets of letters, bright and colourful and friendly.

The ghost has started using them to talk to you.

Ghosts is a short story about a haunting, about life, and about hope. Originally published on Twitter in 2018, it was put on the Otherwise Award Long List in 2019 and was published in Transcendent 4: The Year's Best Transgender Speculative Fiction (edited by Bogi Takács). This is the revised version published in Transcendent 4, upgraded with new formatting and fonts. A colour edition uses rainbow lettering for the ghost; if this would create an unpleasant reading experience for you, download the versions that are not marked with "(Colour)" in the title.

[Content warnings:

Ghosts is written in the second-person ("you" as the protagonist) with a protagonist who is implied to be transfeminine, if that would be dysphoric or upsetting. It contains dysphoria, anxiety, and depression. It has a ghost (but a nice one).]
