He was unexpected.

No.

Our ship getting blown up was unexpected.

Crashing on a planet filled with murder-goats was unexpected.

Being rescued by a copper skinned, winged hunk with golden eyes and not wearing much more than a leather kilt and a weapon harness was so freaking miraculous that I wondered if I’d actually fallen off that cliff.

This was just some sort of hallucination to keep my mind busy before I died, right?

Because otherwise, unexpected just got very, very interesting...

2.5

Steam: 2/5 - Only a couple scenes and the descriptions were pretty shallow and short.

Romance: 2/5 - Both MCs seemed like good folks but I didn't feel their chemistry.

Plot: 3.5/5 - This 100% coulda been that I've had a headache for the past couple of days but I felt like the writing was disjointed a lot of the time. I'd read a sentence and go "Wait... what are they even talking about?" then reread a few paragraphs back trying to figure it out. Totally could be my brain checking out and not the books fault but it felt like stuff was missing :/

The world building was there though. Not like, mind blowing, but there.

Rereadable: Nope.

Continuing with series/author: I don't think so.

Recommend to others: Meh, maybe. I didn't like it all that much but I can see how this could be a cup of tea situation.

Enjoyable read. Well written, interesting storyline. Each book in the series is a standalone, with a HEA. A mystery to unravel

good

Typos and lots of questions but not enough to detract from the story. I enjoyed it thoroughly. However I would love to actually get a better idea of what they look like

It was… ok… like 2.7⭐️s

The story idea is interesting and I can tell lots of lore has been left out but hinted at which makes me curious about it. The writing isn’t bad, but it’s not really my preferred style. Everything felt a little soulless. The spice was mild at best, just very short and glossed over. I had no issues with the FL, she was interesting and I wanted to follow her story a lot. Our ML was a bit of a let down, he had the personality of a wet paper bag at the worst of times and an unseasoned chicken breast at the best of times. I just wanted more from him considering he’s the first of his kind that we’re introduced to. The side characters were much more interesting.

I like the concept, but some of the dialogue was unbelievable, even for a science fiction

Great start to a new series💖💖🔥🔥

This is a very interesting start to a new series. Earth has been in contact with a!One life for at least 100 years and the female lead Sarah is working on an alien cruise ship saving money to finish her degree in history. She and several other girls are working on the ship when disaster strikes and each needs to get into an escape pod.one minute their Bird ship the next Sarah lands on an alien planet hoping to find her friends and survive this new environment. While looking for shelter she's attacked by cancer goats and saved by a golden skinned warrior with wings. Dakath is a reaver created to be a warrior to fight the makers battles for them. We are given little snippets of world building, that reveal small parts of a very clear mystery of who the makers were and what happened to them. I think more will be learned as each book in the series unveiled. Dakath is a warrior true and has challenged the corrupt leader of his clan. But he was defeated by cheating and guile and exiled on a quest . This is when he rescues sarah and their adventure begins. They get to know each other, they discover more information about the makers that deepens the mystery and they find a weapon to help Dakath take back his clan. Their is good chemistry between the characters, I ferreting world building and a story within a story. I'm really looking forward to this next book in the series. 💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖

In this alien romance series, the women are part of the crew of a passenger spaceship. They serve and are the entertainment. Something bad happens and they end up crash landing in escape pods on a planet that isn’t part of the Galactic Alliance (Earth was contacted some 40 years ago at the point of this story).

Errors…

“No, no, no, no, no, , no!” — comma crazy
“…across what’d been paved expenses.” — expanses
“It looks like it was built in the same way as your tower did back in the city.” — tower was
“…sending the doors swinging wildly on their hinges as we spring into the old forge.” — sprang

The characters were really good. The heroine is plucky, but not annoyingly so. The love is fairly insta, but to be fair they are thrown together in a survival mode sense and he’s just hot with wings. And also there are no women. It’s never quite explained why the no women, but that’s a mystery for the series not a single book.

“…I want to know the story of,” he waved his hands at us, “whatever this is.”

Yeah, buddy. So do I.

As for the next book, we only briefly meet that hero and know the heroine from the spaceship set up. It’s not really advertised in the way I can’t stand. So it’s okay. I probably will continue. Because my only real complaint is this one seemed to stutter at the end. There was no really big culmination. It kind of fizzled. And if every book is like that, I might get to the end of the series and still have questions. I have questions!!

Kinda missing something

Found it a little annoying that no one really asks about Sarah, this new strange alien that fell from the sky, or any of the other women. It was brought up twice in a single sentence but never mentioned or explained again. For a bunch of male aliens to not have females or ever seen females I found that frustrating.

loved it

Sarah finds herself stranded on an alien world after the space cruise ship she worked on was destroyed. Her first encounter is with a pack of carnivorous goats that herd her right off a cliff! Luckily she is plucked from the air by a magnificent winged warrior before the goats can finish her off. Dakath is on a mission to find an artifact in one of the ancient abandoned cities before he can return home to his aerie after a failed attempt to challenge their current corrupt leader, Klov. It has become clear that the dishonorable male does not have the best intentions of his people in mind and most of the aerie believes that Dakath should be their leader. Plus there was something fishy about their battle, Dakath believes Klov has a secret weapon he has been using to keep his title. Together Dakath and Sarah search the ancient cities of the makers and make many strange discoveries, including how all the different clans were genetically engineered by the long gone makers for their own amusement and that the clans are all only male and produce new generations via some advanced completely mechanical cloning process. Fascinating story, I look forward to more of the series, as there are many more escape pods (containing Sarah’s friends) to be discovered on this alien planet inhabited by only males.

3.5⭐️ Sweet and Fun

It’s no great masterpiece, but it is a whole lot of fun.

It’s a weird juxtaposition of realistic, and straight up silly. She needs to urinate outside, and despairs the lack of toilet paper.

But she doesn’t get truly freaked and being stranded on a strange planet, with an alien. While not Insta love, it does move very fast, but is done sweetly and simply.
Fight science are simplistic, repetitive and long. This par5 I didn’t enjoy. The author needs to work with someone more comfortable and knowledgeable in this. But it’s a small complaint, easy enough to skim past.

Surprisingly, there’s more story than sex. Those looking for smutty fun will be disappointed. Those wanting an easy to read, simple, classic sci-fi romance, will be very pleased.

Will check out the book in the series.

I liked it. It was an interesting story, and it sort of made sense. I liked the characters, though they felt a bit shallow, and there are some things that weren't explained at all. Like how the girls got the job at the space cruise, or what exactly was their job there. How it’s told, I kinda imagined something like this:

but at least one of the other girls was a dancer, and there’s mention of a stage, yet Sarah is grateful she doesn’t have to dance, so I got confused there. Not that it matters much, that’s in the first chapter and not mentioned again (the ship is mentioned several times, just not the job). Overall, entertaining, easy to read, and with a decent amount of action (of more than one kind).

Good

Sarah is a human, who after a space-ship accident, discovers herself stranded on an unknown world.
Dakath is a winged warrior for his clan. Banished by a corrupt leader, he saves Sarah from some ravenous beasts, before leading them off in a quest to find a way to understand each other, and to overthrow the tyrant who cast him out.

This is an alien hero sci-fi romance… lots of fun futuristic tech, plus a planet which is a little behind the times. Fans of barbarian-like aliens will enjoy this one: and although it is a complete story in and of itself, it is set up as the start of a series, with a couple of loose ends for subsequent books to tie up.

A good and enjoyable escapist fantasy for the sci-fi romance enthusiast.

A very enjoyable alien romance.

I really liked this story. It was an entertaining and enjoyable introduction to a new series of standalone books. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Klov was definitely deserving of the comeuppance that he received. Sarah wasn’t prepared for things to go wrong with the ship she was traveling/working on but she hoped for the best. Dakath wasn’t prepared to find a creature that he had never seen before and that couldn’t communicate but he adjusted well. There was drama, action, romance, suspense, and a touch of humor all in this story. I loved their happily ever after although I wish there was an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.

An exciting start to a new series! I wasn't sure I'd like it at first because it didn't start off as an aggressive alien abduction, so it threw me for a minute. By the time the action started, I was hooked though! Sarah is found by Dakath and all the pieces started to fall into place. I'm excited to see where the authors will take this group of stranded women, like, will any of them have died? Maybe accidentally eaten by the Kraken, or the giant mechanized spiders? I hope they all end up with stories as good as this one, full of action, sex tutoring, and story arcs that hold your interest all throughout the reading I'm looking forward to the next one now!

Some issues with planet

Enjoyed the getting to know each other part. Especially the communication and cultural differences.
The premise of the different battling species makes little sense if you take into account the time past since the makers left.
Or their lack of curiosity of what is left of the cities, etc.
As to the implied defects of the cloning devices from lack of maintenance and age, the lack of females or those able to do both is huge. That means they are slowly dying out.

An adventure

This is a good story it has a bit of an adventure searching for a relic. Searching for her fellow women, and defeating a cruel warlord. It is quite an exciting and fun read. There was one thing this story starts with an escape pod which struck me as a bit simular to another story I read, but once he gets banished its clear its a different story entirely. I like this lady in this story we is not all a damsel she gets in sticking situations but she also stands up for herself. Its a good alien series.

Let’s Argue

I found this book to be an enjoyable read but it did remind me of another series with winged warriors and human females. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters, their love language of “let’s argue” was really cute. The world building will be interesting, I thought this initial book just touched on it so learning the secrets of the Makers will be engrossing and I’m positive I will continue the series.

My kind of alien world. Don’t want to give too much away but a much different spin on the ”mars needs women” genre. I love this and I love Reaver and will love any other book that comes from this world.

Virgin rating:
Innocence of virgin hero: 4/5
Innocence in losing it: 3.5/5 innocent at the kissing and making out but then….
Build up to losing it: 4/5
Hotness of losing it: 3.5/5
Busted touching himself: no
POV of losing it: both

Dakath the Thaxian warrior

One minute we are relaxing in our rooms and then the warning sounds. We decide together that we need to get to the escape pods and we are away just before the explosion. My pod opens and the door will not close which is annoying since I landed in a high mountainous area and it is cold. Then just as I am herded to a cliff by ferocious goat like animals I over balance and as I am falling a gorgeous alien with wings saves me.

THIS is the quality of work I was expecting from KI. These books really suffer from lack of editing and whatever other fancy processes a regularly published book goes through. The writing is good. The story is gripping. Planning out an over arching mystery through all the books is great! The world building is cool. However, every one of the sex scenes across all of the books reads exactly the same even with 4 VERY different alien hotties. They’re genetically engineered! Let’s spend some more time describing and differentiating their genitalia, shall we? ALSO, I get it, but there is no way these dudes are sterile. There is no way they wouldn’t be. Absolutely not.

Excellent beginning

Sarah and Dakath were a pretty great couple. Stranded due to having to bail out of an exploding spaceship, Sarah finds herself on a primitive planet... You know the tropes: language issues, fish out of water, Super hot alien with wings and other endowments, never saw a woman before, bad guy to be defeated... well-written with a surprisingly interesting plot even if it does have the typical tropes. Highly recommend. Onto book 2!

Stranded and rescued

This is a story of earth women escaping a explosion on a ship in space. The heroine finds herself on a planet that has no satellite service. This mean there will be no rescue since there is no way to notify anyone. The hero saves her from the dangers of this planet that she had no idea about. They learn how different their lives were and find out how to rethink their future. Well worth reading.

Murder-goats, winged alien warriors, and crash landings—Reaver’s Quest is pure chaotic fun in the best way. The opening dropped me into a survival adventure with high stakes, but what really captured me was the hero’s quiet devotion and unexpected sweetness under all the muscle and leather. This first entry sets a great tone for a series that blends humor, steamy tension, and alien world wonder with heart.

Great first book in the series.

The world building is excellent. Enough information to get the series started but enough mysteries left for the later books. Great characters that you want to root for and nasty villains that you cheer to get their comeuppance. Can't wait for the next book.

Sarah and Dakar

This is a very good, well written, alien/human romance. The characters are interesting, well developed, and some quite lovable. This is the first story in the Thaxian Warrior series. It starts with an introduction of the women dancing on a spacecraft. Due to some malfunctions, they escape in pods as the ship explodes. Read and enjoy.

Reavers Quest

I crashed landed on a planet and now I’m wondering how to survive when a stranger finds me. We can’t understand each other’s language until he takes me to an old city.
Darthan does not understand the emotions that he is having about the female Sarah until he realizes she is his mate. Recommend this book

An easy romantic read

This is an easy romantic book with the troupe of human female crashes on another planet and needs help to find her crew mates. It’s more of a slow burn with light intimacy. There is a villain but the battles are predictable. The world building and culture were nicely woven into the story itself. Read On!

An awesome beginning to a series.

This is a great read. The world and aliens they have created are fascinating.
Sarah is an interesting combination of practical and foolish. It is intriguing that Dakoth excepts Sarah so quickly and is not more suspicious.
It will be fun to find out what happened to the other woman.
