The Lonely Sea

Rate this book
The extraordinary story of how Sue Dockar survived two days and two nights lost alone at sea after being swept away during a spearfishing contest in shark-infested waters off the Queensland. Like the best books in this genre, including The Perfect Storm, it explores a largely unknown subculture (in this case spearfishing), bringing its eccentric and memorable characters vividly to life, and shows how a series of small and individually avoidable errors dominoed into inevitable disaster.

Really enjoyed this book. It’s like a documentary but you’re reading about a woman who got into trouble.

The story of spearfishing was very good, the build up to the event in Australia in 1983, the two POV’s from the spearfishing people and partner to the woman who was out at sea for 2 days

Cool book, Went right into the spearfishing culture. Little documentary / storytime style but worth a read.
