Nite Fire #5

Exit Strategy

Rate this book

The life Dahlia built in Sentinel City is over, shattered by betrayal and crushed beneath the rubble of a world she’s come to love. But, in the apocalypse, grief is a luxury none can afford. Least of all, the scaled vigilante fighting to protect them.

With half her team MIA, creatures rampaging the streets, and humanity facing destruction, Dahlia struggles to put out more fires than one shapeshifter can handle. All the while, the damaged veil between the worlds is eroding faster. Exits are multiplying, giving the blight free reign to devour all in its path. Relishing in the chaos: the mad scientist bent on seizing Earth for his own devious plan.

In a race against time, Dahlia must find a way to save what remains of this tragic new reality—before the Renewal extinguishes all life on the linked worlds. The dragon inside her is done sitting quietly in the background.

Exit Strategy is the 5th and final book in the Nite Fire Series.

Not saying I liked the fact this series is over, but it couldn’t have been finished in any better way. I absolutely loved the journey we followed Dahlia on. Would absolutely recommend it, and will read it again without a doubt!

I can’t believe we are already on the last book, book five in this series. Once I saw that the book was out, I grabbed it. I have enjoyed all the books in this series as the story is an apocalyptic urban fantasy that is action-packed and as always kept me glued to the pages. Dahlia the dragon shifter once again finds herself in a race against time, with half her team MIA, monsters on a rampage, and the rest of humanity facing destruction. But if that isn’t enough, they also have to try and stop the veil between the worlds eroding.

Dahlia Nite is brash and kickarse, loud and sassy and faced with a final battle Dahlia lets her dragon free. inside her is done sitting quietly in the background.

Be sure to start at the beginning of this series and work your way through. YOU will not be disappointed.

Dahlia Nite, the shapeshifting, scaled vigilante is back and it is the end of the world, or at least the beginning of the end, everything she thought she knew and trusted has been ripped apart at the seams and she doesn’t know where to go or what to do first and her list has just been added to again. As she recovers from the shock of the city being brought to its knees and the disappearance of half of her team without so much as a note or message to say where they have gone, she has to go on fighting for the place she has come to love and where has almost become home, but for Dahlia, as usual, nothing is straight forward.

First on the list is both to try and stay alive and keep those on her team which are left alive, this is easier said than done as rubble is strewn all over Sentinel City, fires are burning out of control and the skyline has been completely changed by the attack

.Second, she has to figure out a way to stop the blight and halt the spread of this over the linked worlds, while also trying to figure out where it came from and how it adapts to each environment so quickly.

Thirdly she has to find a way to close the exits which are forming as the veil slowly disintegrates and which are popping up all over the place and causing more trouble than they are worth, not to mention the influx of supernatural creatures which are using them.

In place number four, she has the mad scientist who is bent on world domination and who is thriving in the chaos around them and using it to their advantage.

Finally, she has the lovely dragon inside her who she hopes is about to divulge the information she needs to tackle all of the above, but who is also done with being blocked and starts to take matters into their own hands.

With all that commotion, there is no time for grief, emotion or sometimes even to breathe, but as Dahlia makes the hard choices, will she be able to complete all her tasks before the Renewal takes any chance away from her? This is a fast paced urban fantasy adventure full of action, adventure, hurdles and stress come together in this race against the end of the world where secrets and lies obstruct plans and those fighting to stop it are overwhelmed and under pressure to find a solution in the gripping final instalment to the series.

Exit Strategy is the fifth and final book in the Nite Fire series by C. L. Schneider. This has been a superb series to follow, and I have enjoyed it immensely. So, having said that, I was a little conflicted reading this final book- because on one hand I desperately wanted to know how everything played out in the end, but also not really wanting to say ‘goodbye’ to the series either…..
If you have yet to read the other books in the series, I highly recommend that you do as the storyline follows on from the previous books and you really need to know what happens previously to fully appreciate this instalment. There is a lot of important information, character introductions and details, and relevant backstory contained in the previous four books, so do yourself a favour and read them before starting ‘Exit Strategy’- you’ll be glad you did…
Dahlia Nite is the kick-a** dragon shifter vigilante we have been following on this adventure since the beginning. And if you have been following the series, then you know that a LOT has happened since we met her back in book one. She has strived to keep the streets safe, but with the veil between worlds fraying so quickly, the overwhelming hordes of monsters, the spreading blight, and the very fate of humanity all resting on her shoulders now means that Dahlia is being pushed beyond her limits. Her dragon will not sit back any longer- the apocalypse be damned!! Let the games begin!!!!
Again, this is a fantastic action-packed urban fantasy that had me hanging on every word- and again, C.L Schneider didn’t disappoint, delivering a stellar ending to her fantastic series.
Highly recommended for fans of epic urban fantasy- especially if you like plenty of action and adventure!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, C.L. Schneider!

The life that Dahlia has build in Sentinel City is over. Fall after fall. Beaten and bruised. She's tried so hard to keep the city safe from all the creatures of the veil, but it wasn't enough. Utterly betrayed and completely crushed, she struggles to put out more blazing inferno fires than one half dragon shapeshifter can handle on her own. Stretched thin once again with half her team missing and creatures running the streets, Dahlia doesn't know what to do with this apocalypse. Her worlds have defiantly collided and it's not good at all! Fighting to protect the world that she has come to love, Dahlia must find a way to save what remains of her poor crumbling city. This tragic new reality has the damaged veil between the worlds eroding faster and faster. Exits are multiplying fast and giving free reign to the creatures who will devour everything in their path. Her dragon is done sitting quietly in the background. She must stop the chaos and mad scientist before the Renewal extinguishes all life on the linked worlds. Her worlds! Will her dragon help her to save her home? Will her dragon take over and let the worlds kill each other? Mass murder! And what about her team?! Her family! Dahlia has much to do if she wants to save a little corner of her rubble of a world. But is that even possible at this point?? Against many walls she must try! I can't believe that I'm done! This was such a great set!!! I want to read them all again just to make sure that I didn't miss anything! And I probably will! LOL! And if I have anything to say about it there should be some movies made about this set!! Can you picture the dragon shapeshifter?? The rips in veils! The creatures!!! I sure can!! If you haven't started this set yet you need to!! You will not want to put it down for sure!!

I have been a fan of this series since book one, and this installment is no different! I found the suspense and the action multiplied highly in this one! Delia is a wonderful character, I really felt this one she had to fight for what she holds dear as well as her inner darkness, ended up really loving her more!

Delia has always been a character that I have been strongly drawn to. She is tough, but yet cares dearly about those around her. I found you really got to feel her more in this book. I know this is the end of an amazing series, though it saddens me, it is bitter sweet. I loved how things with Delia and her well. inner demon became the matter of the hour. A lot was at stake in this book, and it was up to our Delia to stop it as well as control it. I wasn't sure what to expect as I was creeping up on the end! I loved the action and the suspense in this one! Could not put this one down at all! Simply loved the series finale!

Such an amazing series, and I know all good things must come to an end. I did not want this one to though. I wanted to cont8nue with Delia and her adventures! Amazing series that I truly highly recommend if you have not already had the pleasure of doing so! Not one to be passed up! A must read!

Exit Strategy is the fifth book in the Nite Fire series. If you haven’t read the others, you definitely should before you read this one! They’re fantastic, and you will enjoy Exit Strategy a lot more if you’ve gotten to know and love the characters over the course of the previous books.
Dahlia Nite has been trained to focus on the immediate situation, and saving the people she can in the moment. But when the immediate situation is an apocalypse, she needs to work on the bigger picture and figure out how to save humanity. As well as protecting those around her the best she can. And dealing with the metamorphosis she is currently going through. So it would be an understatement to say she’s got a lot on her plate.
At this stage in the apocalypse, pretty much everyone is well aware of the existence of a myriad of paranormal creatures. I really like the moments where Nite sees that people care a lot more about what she does than who she is. There’s a lot of great character stuff in amongst the action-packed fight scenes and intriguing detective work.
This book gets five stars from me! I’ve loved this series – I’m sad that it’s come to an end, but looking forward to reading more by this excellent author!

I have enjoyed reading this series from the start. I enjoyed how the author’s writing skills and attention to details made the stories pop. I am sad to see this series end but excited to see what is next for this author. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up as I know that I am in for a non stop adventure. This is a series that I highly suggest reading from the beginning. It will help you enjoy this series, the characters and this author’s writing style. This book is no different. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters from the start. They are connectable, creative and supportive of each other. They took me on a nonstop adventure that was hard to put down. Dahlia finds herself in a race against time and dealing with the dragon inside that is itching to get out. You don’t want to miss what happens with her. She is a great character that truly makes the story for me. She is a strong character that brings the story to life and had me coming back for more. This is a fast paced story that is entertaining and easy to read. This is a great story that I highly recommend. A great series that you don’t want to miss by a great author.

Dahlia is trying to keep the apocalypse from happening. Amidst betrayals, loss and things unforeseen, she is trying to stem the tide of the Blight as it overtakes different worlds through the exits. She is slowly losing the battle as she tries to find the answers as to how to fix it all. Will she be able to find the answers in time? Can she save her friends that have become her family in time?

This is the last book in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Yes, it has dragon shifters, and she is a red head, but that is just one reason why I liked it. The story describes a woman who struggles with opening herself up to other because she was raised not to. She fights against it and what she finds is infinitely more than she could have thought possible. Her friends see her in ways that she can't, and they support her, and encourage her. I enjoyed each of her friends and how they challenged her to change and to love.

Sad to say good-bye to Dahlia Nite, but happy to have read her story.

The Epic Conclusion to a Fantastic Series! Nite Fire: Exit Strategy is not my favorite book in the series but I still loved it. A series that was definitely different to say the least. I was skeptical about starting this series, but I don’t regret it. Now I’m sad I’m on the 5th and final book. I guess it’s time to start all over again! To get reinvigorated all over again, maybe even coming across something I missed before.
Oren has started to wreak havoc on all worlds. Dahlia and her few friends battle officially with him. Will they succeed? Oren seems to easily over power them.
Our heroine has also come full circle from book 1. The 1st rip I’m the veil she repaired, was the one from the Chandler house. Now just a million more to go… lol Naalish has taken Alex Creed prisoner. Dahlia has to save him. Will she succeed?
So many questions with plenty of answers but you need to read to find out! You need to read all 5 books. It's definitely worth the time! Now that they sadly ended, it’s time to start over. What do you say will you join this journey over again with me?

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy (Book 5) by C.L. Schneider

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy is the fifth and final book in this series. This is a Paranormal/Urban Fantasy that I truly enjoyed reading. I’m a huge fan of this author and her style of writing , attention to detail along with amazing characters make for awesome stories. I’m a little bummed that this is the last book in this series, but I’m excited to see what this author brings us next. I highly recommend reading this series in order if you haven’t already started as each book builds off the last one. This series is definitely going on my list of re-reads. I will say this plan on reading this in one sitting because once you start you won’t want to stop till the end. Dahlia’s back and in a race against time while fighting to hold back the dragon within that’s been dying to come out. So I highly recommend reading this fast paced story to find out what happens next. As always I look forward to reading more from this Author .

Having only picked this book up as a standalone, it took a bit to get into and understand the worlds and creatures, but the author did a fabulous job describing everything for readers who haven't already gotten into the series.

This book was an epic journey through worlds with creatures who struggle to survive an impending apocalypse. Dahlia and her crew catch up as they fight off invaders on Earth, try to piece together the puzzle of how to save all worlds from collapse, and face numerous battles with those who stand in the way. When Oren starts the apocalypse and then paints himself as earth's savior while simultaneously working to alter or kill off creatures and humans for his own plans of survival, Dahlia and her team face seemingly impossible odds to stop him and repair the damaged veil that keeps all worlds separated. To make matters worse, she still has to figure out how to actually repair the veil and stop the blight that continues to feed on all of the destruction and violence.

This was a wonderful, original story with great characters and excellent world building.

Wow! Just...wow! Exit Strategy could be a standalone but it makes so much more sense if you meet everyone in Book 1 and read the whole series.
In this installment, Dahlia Nite shows the true extent of her character's growth. The resilience and conviction she holds through overwhelming odds is felt within the pages. Not only does she learn to love, but learns the pain of loss that can go with it. And, therefore, she discovers the true meaning of friendship and love and the strength they provide - both in giving and receiving.
Dahlia has some very hard decisions to make for herself, her friends, and all the worlds. That is a lot to put on one person's shoulders, but somehow she musters through it.
This book provides a rollercoaster of emotions - fear, anger, anxiousness, devastation, loneliness, hope, love, happiness. The action never stops...until it does.
I had a feeling I knew what Dahlia might have to do in the end...but it was still a shock. Still hard to process.

Then there was the epilogue....could there be more to the story? I hope!

This book was absolutely amazing! I have loved this series since book one and could not wait to see what this book held for me. The action started right away. The destruction and travesty were devastating, but Dahlia and her friends chose to fight the evil. The characters have developed so much throughout this series. They are what really make this so good. The evolution of Dahlia while still keeping to her beliefs. The friends she has forged and the new ones she meets along the way.

But the story is what really kept me from not being able to but the book down. The story is so original and gripping. So many things are happening at once. Just when you think it's over, it's really just begun. The world the author has created -- so descriptive and imaginative. The author weaves this fantastic tale with intriguing characters into a masterpiece.

The last book in the series, the previous books need to be read first. But if you are a fan of urban fantasy, you really need to read this book and series.

~ A Must Read in a Shapeshifter Fantasy ~

This is the final book in the series, and I have eaten up every single one. Dahlia has remained true to her core self, but without giving in spoilers away has also evolved into something quite new. Her supporting roles and friends along the way have developed, as well as the world(s) around her. This is such a unique story line, and is such an easy decision to pick up and read. You definitely won't regret it.

I do have to say even the villains/anti-heroes I find myself empathizing with, or at least seeing from their perspective. This is such a nice wrap up to an enthralling fantasy series I know without a doubt I will be reading again. It was also, just a little bit of a shock I was not expecting!!! While Dahlia isn't the most lovable character, she certainly is inspiring, strong, and extremely loyal. I haven't met a character or being quite like her yet, and it was such a pleasure to hear her story. Love, love, love this series.

Five Star reviews are reserved for a select few authors and publications. After all, reading is my than a pastime or hobby for me. Reading is the main source of both my entertainment and my intellectual athleticism. A book doesn't earn a five-star review because of its literary power or its ability to argue a scholarly point. To rework a famous quote, "Sometimes a book is just a book." While being "just a book," it can be an entertaining and great read as well. It can make us forget the stresses we have at work, the pains in our bodies, and the bills that are left to be paid, and for a brief moment, it lets us live a different life. That is the talent of C. L. Schneider and I have loved all of the Nite Fire books. I truly hope this fifth book, "Nite Fire: Exit Strategy" won't be the last in the series. I am not quite ready to say goodbye to Dahlia but if it is, it has been a good ride. Thank you Schneider for making the last few years bearable.

I have enjoyed this series, meeting the characters and the world building has been phenomenal. This one though frustrated me more than once. The excess in descriptive words irritated me. Sure there was a lot of action but also a lot of thinking, pondering and descriptive words. Every little thing described in detail is too much making the book overlong. I did get bored and started skipping to dialogue and felt I could still follow the story. I did make it to the last page and was thrilled I finished. The last chapter is written in what I am used to from previous stories and it made me smile fondly. Then that epilogue?? That made everything better. I loved it! What a perfect way to round out the story.

Overall the story picks up speed as it moves along. It is a must read if you have read the rest of the series. This is a nice ending rounding out the series. I will miss Dahlia, Evans and Creed and all their adventures.

Great Cover BTW!

After the world Dahlia lived in came crashing in around her, things in the Sentinel have changed drastically. With the threat of not only the apocalypse looming over her, a large portion of her team missing, the issue with the exits and blight, and the constant changes in the city she loves, Dahlia’s focus is split into too many directions. She must fight to save the innocents in the city and find a way to fix the apocalypse – if she can.
I’ve been following this series for what feels like forever, and only yesterday. From day one when we were introduced to the heroine and brought into the incredible life she leads as a supernatural vigilante until now. It’s been a marvelous adventure, full of terror, mystery, hilarious moments, and true emotion. There’s nothing worse than an unsatisfying ending to an amazing story, in my opinion, and Exit Strategy was the perfect final book to end the series on. If you’ve been following this series, you need to read this last book!

This was the last book of the Nite Fire series and it was AMAZING! I loved the whole series but this one was by far my favorite.

The book starts with Dahlia fighting supernatural creatures in the sentinel. The start of the end is here. Everything that Dahlia is fighting to avoid finally came. She had run out of time. Now Dahlia is on damage control. With half of her team missing, she is trying to protect the humans while still trying to figure out how to close the exits.

Oren has made things much more difficult for everyone by destroying the police force and bringing his own force into the mix. Dahlia, Casey and the balaur have a lot to do with very little time left to do.

I highly suggest you read this series! The author is now one of my favorites. Everything I have read by them has captured my interest from start to finish.

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy (Book 5) by C.L. Schneider
5 Stars

Wow, wow, wow! What an exciting finale to an amazing series! This is an action packed, fast paced book that doesn’t let up until the end. Dahlia is a strong, no- nonsense character that has grown and evolved throughout this series. As strong as she is, she had her hands full in this book. Between dealing with the apocalypse, her inner dragon and her growing powers, I’m surprised that she didn’t go crazy. In a race against time, Dahlia seems to be fighting a losing battle. Although there are losses in this book, Dahlia gains many things as well. The author introduced some interesting characters which added some comedic relief amidst all the drama. This was such an interesting series that I’m sad to see it end. I highly recommend reading it!

Audiobook: Wow! This last book in the series was amazing. Dahlia was beset by trials and tribulations. Half of her crew was missing, and Dahlia had no idea what was happening to them. Sentinel City was becoming overcome by the blight, varied creatures were roaming the streets, and humanity was facing annihilation. This story was an emotional rollercoaster. The world building was complicated. The action was fast paced and intense. The characters were complex and fierce, and Dahlia and her friends will remain in my memory for a long time. I liked all the varied fantastic beings that played a role in this story. I recommend this series to others who like this genre. Cassandra King's narration was superb, and her performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Here it is! The moment we have all been waiting for, but also have been dreading because we all know this story is coming to an end.
C.L. Schneider has done such an amazing job on this series and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
The apocalypse has finally come and this action packed book begins! Dahlia has so many things going wrong, old enemies are returning, she has missing team members all while she is trying to save the world. Her dragon and her powers continue to grow, but even still is seems like she is fighting a losing battle. Although there is some losses in this book, there is also some wins. This is a very fast paced book that doesn’t let up until the end.

Sad that the series is over but what a way to end it! From book one there has been nothing but amazing characters and a fantastic storyline. The world the author built has been fantastic and the lead Character, Dahlia has been nothing but amazing. Learning that the world and rules she grew up with were wrong she set out to protect those who couldn’t protect herself. She put her life on the line again and again. The growth of this character has been amazing. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye. Please read the entire series so that you get the full effect. I’m so happy with the way the series ended and the Epilogue was a “Finally!” Moment. Thank you to the author for a fantastic world to escape to.

This is an incredible series and easily one of my favourites. Right from the moment I started reading Book one I knew I was in for such a ride. I love Dahlia. She is such an amazing character - strong and fiesta and complex and interesting. The supporting characters are all brilliant as well - it became so I couldn't wait to read more about them as well.
These books are fast paced and exciting. I love the way the stories are all unique but interconnecting. This book was such a great ending to the series, even if I'm not quite ready for it to be over yet. This author has firmly become one of my favourites and I cannot wait to see what she produces next.

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy by C.L Schneider

This is another amazing read by the author. Exit Strategy is the last book in the Nite Fire Series. I'm sad to see the series coming to an end, but it was a great read.

Dahlia is back at it once again. She isn't only trying to save her world but she's trying to save Earth as well. Seventy two hours and hardly any survivors. The quote I chose for Dahlia is: “Tara, my name is Dahlia Nite. I’m not a cop, but I do know how to kill these things. And I’m not going to let anything happen to you. Either of you.”

Highly recommended for Supernatural Fantasy lovers.

Once again, another amazing book to this series, I could not put it down. Filled with action, carnage, explosions, ass-kicking, and all-around women empowerment. I absolutely love love the main character Dahlia Nite. I think if I could be a supernatural or paranormal character, I would so want to be Dahlia. Once again, another book that I just couldn’t put down, I wanted to know what was next. I’m really sad that the story is over, and this is the last book but I can always go back and read it again, which will be something on my list to do. Highly recommend this book if you love fast paced kick-ass action and a strong female role.

Dahlia is a fierce force and this final book shows her full strength and how she has truly become all that she was meant to be. The growth and development over the series has cast her in many lights but this is the one where we literally and figuratively see her spread her wings as she was meant to. The support system around her of trustworthy and supportive friends allow her to grow in ways she did not see and that was one of the best parts of the series itself.. As it all winds down you get one last epic adventure with action, suspense, drama, excitement, and magic with these delightful characters and epic Heroine. The author truly took this series above and beyond.

"Exit Strategy," the fifth and final installment of C.L. Schneider's Nite Fire series, delivers a thrilling conclusion to Dahlia's epic journey. With her life in Sentinel City destroyed by betrayal and chaos reigning supreme, Dahlia, the scaled vigilante, faces her greatest challenge yet. As exits between worlds multiply, allowing destructive creatures to wreak havoc, Dahlia must contend with a mad scientist's sinister plans and the rapidly eroding veil between realities. Schneider masterfully weaves action, suspense, and emotional depth, making this an unputdownable finale. Fans of the series will find "Exit Strategy" a satisfying and explosive end to Dahlia's saga.

Our favorite author is back with a new installment and it’s absolutely perfect! Once again we are provided a story and plot with amazing characters, drama, action, and so much more that you won’t want to put it down. While this is the last installment in this series I will personally be looking for more from this author. The story flows smoothly, the characters all have their own uniqueness, and the story just has so much originality that I simply couldn’t put it down. So if your looking for a great new series or even just a new book make sure and pick this one up today.

More challenges face our heroine as she fights to keep her own dragon in check while defending her city from the ever-growing Blight & the ancient dragon queen we all love to hate! I hate to see this series end but what an explosive, fantastic way to do it!! This author is OFFICIALLY in my top 5!!
