They Couldn't Love Me: Amir's Story

TRIGGER WARNING!!
This book contains content pertaining to abuse, neglect, and abandonment that you may find traumatic; triggering of your own experiences or may create uncomfortable thoughts or feelings. This includes emotional, verbal, psychological, physical, and sexual abuse of a minor. Although a work of fiction, this book was written to shed light on the horrors of child abuse and neglect. If you know anyone who is being abused, please contact your local office of Health and Human Services, or contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 for referrals to agencies that provide legal, economic self-sufficiency, sexual assault, elder abuse, children, and other related services.

Imagine being a young child growing up in the clutches of the foster care system. A system that has sworn to protect and do everything in the best interest of every child. Imagine being placed in a home with people who were promised to love you but instead did nothing but torture and abuse you.

Amir is a young boy that learns firsthand what the system will do to you. Amir is placed in the home of Richard and Rose Montgomery, who already have three foster kids… siblings, Anthony, Antori and Paige. For the first six months, Amir feels nothing but love and is thankful for being placed in a home where he has siblings to play with.

It doesn’t take long for Amir to find out that the Montgomery’s aren’t who they portray themselves to be. To the foster care system, they are loving parents. Behind closed doors, they are abusive, perverted individuals who create a house of horror for any child placed in their custody.

All that changes when the kids finally get tired enough to fight back. They want to come clean and tell the truth. But what will it cost these kids to get their lives back? Will they ever be able to recover from the traumas they’ve had to deal with during their young lives? Will they finally get justice and will the people who hurt them finally get the punishment they deserve?

I first seen this book on facebook and I was tagged. I follow a wonderful author who shared the making of this book and I had her tag me and I'm so glad I did. Now the only thing is, even though I shed a tear or 2 at the ending, I'm so stunned and at a loss of words and anybody who know me in real life can vouch that I'm strong minded with a heavy vocabulary and highly blunt. I am probably one of the most blunt reviewers this author will ever meet and this is the very first time a book has left me at a loss of words. I know 1 thang tho. I'm for sho this author go hear from me again! She just gained herself a new reader. And BTW this is happening to kids in real life in the system, even the ones not in the system, at home with their biological families. I pray God send them an angel 🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞

Shouldn't Be

The child welfare agencies are so underserved, overloaded, and inconsistent with making children's live better! Unfortunately, Amirs situation is one of the worst case's because someone should've peeped something going on a long time ago! Those foster parents were monsters who should never have been given the honor. Background checks were apparently never done otherwise an investigation into their own daughters may have kept them from having access to more children. Anthony and Antori were very motivated to get away from those monsters. Poor Paige so innocent, to die in such a manner at eight years old!
All those people in power wreaking havoc on the innocent!
Pray for those whose stories we don't know.
The child welfare system is so ratchet!

Cruel World

This world can be a cruel place for some children. This was one of the saddest things I have ever read. The truth can be sad. This book will make you sad and angry at the same time. This is one of many stories that needs to be told. Some of these things are really happening. I don't know how people in this world can be so cruel. I'm glad some people got what they deserved. Everyone should read this story and make sure if you see a child that looks as if something is going own let them know that you are someone they can trust to get them help if needed. Miss Beverly is a real one.

Tragedy

Oh where do I start. This right here had me angry, sad and disgusted. I hated how Richard and Rose treated those children. But what could you expect from them when they abused their own children. The system failed them, when you have the people that suppose to protect them involved. I hurt for poor Paige, she didn’t deserve that. This story makes you wonder how much of this happens in real life. Great job will opening our eyes to a problem that many turn a blind eye too.

a must read

This book is a must read it was well written provided lots of info on what to look for when dealing with people like the Montgomery family I know there is lots of evil in this world but they definitely belong to the devil for how they treated these kids but at the end I’m happy that the kids were able to find peace and true love with their grandmother and be safe from the devils themselves

Heartbreaking

I was in tears during this whole book. This book was so nerve wrecking and the saddest story I ever read. It revealed so much in world that is happening today. This is not for people who have dealt with physical or sexual abuse. It was well written and I applaud the author for writing this and bringing it to light. I'm praying for all children who have gone through this and still going through this.

Failing the children

I couldn't read all the gruesome details, it was so sickening. I kept wondering how anyone could abuse a child. To think a mother would allow this to happen to her own child was too much to handle. And yet it happens. I'm not sure what the author's purpose was for writing such a book. I'm hoping it's for awareness. Don't be that neighbor who doesn't want to get involved. Saving a child's life takes a village.

I’m literally in tears 😭

Omg I’m not going to lie the first half of this book was very hard for me to read. It took me a few days to read because I just couldn’t stomach it. The abuse was a lot but I’m glad I pushed through. The second half I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I just had to know how they were going to get out. Every time Amir prayed, I prayed too. Even though Amir was broken he still strong until the end ❤️

What a read

Interesting but very sad read those kids endured entirely too much before their prayers got answered. The most disturbing thoughts that came to me while reading was that this is the reality for so many in real life that don't have the chance for a good ending! I admired the details and the truth behind the story but the story itself broke my heart but I had to finish to the end in hopes of a miracle! Nicely written but a sad sad story

Awesome storyline to subject that's always overlooked! Rose and Richard for of too easy for me! I wish they could have suffered. But those foster kids in Martin and Tammy house have them what they deserved! Poor Paige. Rest assure her brothers had her back even in death as they had her back! So and at the end Amir got a family that loved him unconditionally

I wasn’t sure I would be able to complete this story but I did. Amir and the other children went through absolutely egregious circumstances by people that are trusted to take care of them and some in high positions. It was disgusting the things they did to these children and I’m not surprised at the feelings and actions of these children. Unfortunately some stories do not end like this one. The author truly delve deep for this one.

This story was just so heartbreaking. It made me soo mad and disgusted with the people in this story. But this is real life for alot of innocent kids. I was not expecting to be reading NOTHING like this. I wanted to quit reading this book a few times. I am still angry. I'm gonna pray for the kids that are going through such tragedies everyday.

Trauma and Perseverance

This book isn’t for the faint ! This book highlighted the child abuse , sexual abuse , and the many traumatic challenges youth are faced with . It also depicts the CPS system and how people that are foster parents manipulate the system to get children to use for their own sick gains and pleasures .

omg

Wow, this was a tear jerker. It makes you think of how cruel people can be to children. I cried, I helt my breathe, I had so many emotions throughout this book. Although this was fiction it actually happens in real life. I pray that children don’t have to suffer and go through what this characters went through.

Why would you write this

This book was so graphic and heart breaking made me sick to my stomach I wanted to stop reading but I wanted to see if the kids got out disgusting I thought this book was about child abuse not pedophiles and the detail is very chilling what made you write a book like this unless it was based on a true story

child sexabuse is horrible

I can’t believe how sick these people were to foster kids just to sexually and physically abuse them. They had a whole network of professional people in their organization that switched kids with each other. It was sad some kids ended up dead from the abuse. But they all got caught in the end and went to jail or got killed

a ticking time bomb

I started reading this story from 1:00-6:30 am. I was immediately drawn in with Amir and the children. The author gives a very vivid look into the mind of sick people that enjoyed, I was praying every minute for the demise of Rose & Richard & that whole sick network. These kids are true survivors. Great job!
