Explore the slice of life side of Rook Di Goo, Yesterday or Long Ago, and Wait Until Tomorrow in this collection of 17 short stories that returns you to the Evraft Galaxy for some fluff with a side of treason.
Jenni Sauer writes fairy tale retellings for soft, angry hearts. She didn’t go to college, but she has a degree of mental health and has her masters in optimism from the school of life. Her proudest achievements include staying soft despite the trauma she’s lived through and holding on when life tried its hardest to take her out
If you’re looking for her, she’s probably bent over her laptop plotting treason—er, her latest story idea—or procrastinating on that by making another playlist or cute aesthetic. Or you can find her on Instagram @ivorypalaceprincess
this silly goose sat down to read one or two of these and the next time she looked up she'd devoured the whole thing 🤷♀️ the evraft galaxy is my comfort galaxy featuring some of my favorite characters EVER so this was just utter perfection. 5 stars, I'm obsessed, I couldn't have loved it more.
So this might be one of the best books I’ve ever read. Take three of my favourite books and fill a collection with short stories about those characters…and I will melt. Wow. New comfort read 💕 and I’m so excited to reread this sometime.
I loved getting to see some of my favorite characters again going through normal every day life. These characters and stories Jenni has written (including her books) are so special to me. I’ve never read characters who I relate to so much and make me feel less alone in so many ways. Being a fan of all of Jenni’s Everaft books, this was so special and sweet to get to read. ❤️
I love the way Sauer describes her stories in this collection, as fanfiction for her Evraft books. Yes, fanfiction. Even though they're written by the author. She does not intend for these stories to be taken as canon, but just to be fun stories using familiar characters where she can explore whatever themes interest her. Such a fun concept!
I actually loved all the stories -- not a single dud here! Still, these were my particular favorites:
+ "First Date" -- I loved seeing Will Garrick and his future adopted daughter Rinity meet, and I love how kind he is to her and her mom right from the start.
+ "Happy Cavarden, Gibbs" -- This is basically a Christmas story, and anything with gift-giving and wishes granted is almost guaranteed to make me happy.
+ "Wedding Night" -- A fluffy and snuggly story with lots of surprises and upended expectations. So sweet!
+ "Glitter" -- It's a completely improbable little story, and yet it totally works!
Fanfiction-like selections from from the author herself! Honestly, such a clever idea.
I loved reading these non-canon insights of “what might have been.”
The Rook Di Goo sections were my favourite! :)
Content: some of the selections have more passionate romance-y stuff (kissing, touching, noticing) but are still clean; mild language (p*ssed; d*mn); a story deals with a drunk character
Okay, since I can't simply go with incoherent pterodactyl screeching if approval and need something a bit more coherent... I adore this book of fluffy cute bits of characters I love. Jenni, I love every bit of this. And every bit of the heart you let us see. Gibbs and Amya are some of my favorite characters, right up there with Bender and Cori (and they're the only ones I missed from this collection!! But honestly, I love all of these characters. And the title is absolute perfection!!
I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it many times again, but I am TRASH for anything set in the Evraft Galaxy, especially anything involving Gibbs. This collection did not disappoint in either of those areas. It made me laugh, cringe, and cry, and I loved ever second of it! My favourite story was probably the one where Gibbs was drunk texting Amya, and my only gripe is that this book did not feature Cori and Bender ☹️ but again, the sheer amount of Gibbs made up for it 😆. I definitely recommend reading Rook Di Goo, Yesterday or Long Ago, and Wait Until Tomorrow before picking this one up.
THIS BOOK WAS SO CUTE SZFVSVDGD!!!! It's an absolutely GENIUS concept, first of all, I'd love it if more authors wrote collections like this!!! And look. Might I be biased because it heavily featured my favorite character (Gibbs)? No, I'm still right, it's amazing and cute and amazing. There's a cat. And snuggling. And ice cream. And a chapter about this universe's equivalent of Christmas (look. I thrive on Christmas episodes/books/chapters/ literally anything)!!
What a fun collection of short stories. I loved getting to see what day-to-day life is like for the characters in the Evraft Universe. I enjoyed every story, but I do have to say that I'm partial to the ones featuring Amya, Gibbs, Rinity, and Tov, the characters from "Yesterday or Long Ago."
I can't wait for more more set in the Evraft Universe!
Fantastic sci fi "slice of life" short story collection
The title says it all: definitely fluff with a side of treason. Fluff's stories have found family, tears, laughter, sorrow, joy, love in many forms, healing, and friendship. Simply, Fluff is mostly a feel good collection of lovely short stories about Sauer's wonderful characters.
Fluff with a side of Treason holds a bunch of oneshots from the Evraft universe. While they technically aren’t canon, they add so much to the series and gives the reader a deeper look into the characters. It’s perfect for anyone looking for extra time with their characters without wanting to sit through a whole storyline.
Step 1. Read Rook Di Goo and be very very happy Step 2. Read Yesterday or Long Ago and be very very happy Step 3. Read Fluff With a Side of Treason and go into a sweetness coma from all of the heart and soul that was poured into this book because it is without a doubt the greatest piece of companion literature you will ever read.
