“You know it’s bad when you have to give up chocolate to pay the bills. I’m flat broke and desperate, but the word can’t isn’t part of my vocabulary. I’m all too familiar with shoulda, coulda, woulda, however, you won’t hear me say cannot or any of its variations. No, siree. I can do anything except for improve my finances. So it makes perfect sense that I, Louella Belle, would compete to become Mrs. Fix-It, the new cohost, on the popular House and Landscape channel’s home improvement show, Mr. Fix-It. Too bad the limits of my handywoman skills involve duct tape and thumbtacks. Shh. No one needs to know that. Onscreen, Mr. Fix-It, aka Bo Boone, is a stud and our chemistry is as blazing as the southern sun. However, when the cameras stop rolling, he cools off quick. When I learn why, I want to patch up his heart. Don’t worry, I won’t use duct tape or thumbtacks. My efforts are about as effective as me replacing a wax ring on a toilet, flushing everything down the drain unless Mr. Fix-It can live up to his name, forgive me, and get over his past.”

This is another sweet squeaky clean romance, only PG rated kisses.
Ella Belle (cutest name ever) is down on her luck with literally no money to her name. She enters a contest to become Ms. Fix It on a popular home improvement TV show.
The host of said show is hunky Bo. He smolders in his flannels but hides his heart behind a coat of armor.
I loved how sweet this one was and definitely recommend if you are after a feel good, light quick romcom.
This is the start of a new series and she set up a great volley for book 2.
Bo, Mr Fix It, is looking for a new co-host of an improvement show--he's NOT looking for love. However, Louella Belle (Ella Belle) just can't be resisted. This book and story line is quirky and eccentric, but also pages full of laughs and fun. The characters were unbelievably silly, yet so endearing.
I love a reality tv type of show and this one was unique in that the characters were older than a typical show (40s) and weren't searching for a romantic connection. They also weren't on there searching for fame and fortune. Well...Ella Belle just wanted enough money to support her chocolate addiction. For a minute there, I thought she just might have to resort to living in her "van down by the river." I thought the romance was very sweet.
Ellie Hall does a great job of incorporating all the key elements to a successful romcom.
Content: mild romance

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐💫 (3.5) Steam Level: 🔥 (kissing only) Trigger Warning: brief mentions of death of a loved one and divorce
Louella Belle has been all over the world giving her time and resources to help those less fortunate. Now she's back in Butterbury, Georgia after finding out her aunt has passed away and left almost everything to Louella Belle's conniving brother. Broke and homeless, Louella Belle decides to apply to compete for the title of Miss Fix-It on the House and Landscape Channel. Soon she finds herself running into Bo Boone, aka Mr. Fix-It, and falling for him before she can admit to applying to be his replacement. When Bo and Louella Belle meet to start filming the show, he is wary of her intentions and whether or not he can trust her affection. But as they spend time together, he sees that she's a genuine person and not just someone trying to benefit from his celebrity status. Will Mr. Fix-It find love as well as a replacement for his job?
This was a cute novella that gives the story behind Bo and Louella Belle who are side characters in the Home Sweet Home Romance series. I liked both of them individually and as a couple and had fun watching them fall in love, even if it was a bit fast. Bo had legitimate reasons to be wary of Louella Belle, but I felt like he overcame his past trauma really quickly. I also thought the issues with Louella Belle and her brother were glossed over a bit near the end. In short, I think some of the conflicts would have been better addressed if this was a full-length novel. I did like the reality show competition and also that we learn how Louella Belle meets the other ladybosses who are featured in the following books. And even though this isn't a Christian romance, I did like the mentions of prayer and using your God-given gifts. Although I wish it had been longer, I think this is worth a read just for the fun situations the characters get into and to also get some background information on the ladybosses.
This was a cute, fun book about the cutest Ella Belle and Bo aka Mr. Fix-It. Louella Belle is down in her luck and out of money, so she decided to apply for the job or Miss Fix-It when the show comes to town. A chance encounter with Mr. Fix-It before the show even starts gets Ella Belle’s heart pounding and her mind spinning before the auditions even start!!
MR & MRS FIX-IT FIND LOVE is a rare breed in the romance genre - the forty-something woman finding romance. It is a sweet romance with Ella Belle finding herself so down on her luck she vies to be Mrs Fix-It when she’s really not that good at fixing things.
Bo (Mr Fix-It) is the grumpy in this grumpy-sunshine rom com. He has his reasons for keeping people at arms length. Ella Belle is not without quite a bit of conflict in her life that leads to a cast of quirky characters that keep the story interesting.
It’s cute, humorous and a light book to read. Advance copy received. Voluntary review.
This was a fun read. I regularly call my daughter “Elle Belle,” so that was cool. I loved the celebrity part. There was some humor, and tension, and family and friends. A lovely read.
Tropes: Feel good friendships, heartwarming, southern, small town, romantic comedy, home improvement, tv star
TW: Sabotage, Divorce, Theft, Grief, Death
Main Characters: Louella Belle & Bo
I am a forever Ellie Hall fan girl. I will kick some bootay if you wanna argue. She literally writes some of the most wonderful books. Wholesome, clean and swoon worthy. I am a huge lover of HGTV and this couldn't have been a better setting for Ella Belle and Bo. These two are just made for each other.
I felt so much adoration for Ella Belle and her huge heart. I love how much she loves to give. So selfless, yet deserves more than she allows herself. I wish Ella was real because I want to be her BFF. I love her heart and her personality. She is such her own person, no one could ever try to replicate her.
Let's get to Bo, because sweet baby Jesus a man in plaid who smells like he would, is too much to fathom. When she described him I was def getting Jonathan Scott vibes. IYKYK. Minus the twin thing. He couldn't have been more perfect for her, he was def her other half even before he knew it! Even when he had trouble figuring out things he wasn't hard on himself. He made sure to let himself have those valid feelings even if at times they could be misleading. I was hoping that we would have gotten more backstory on Bo, because I feel like he needed a little more fleshing out as a character. I wanted to know more about how he grew up and where. What made him the man he was.
I absolutely loved this book so much. I was so glad that we got to know more about Ella's Aunt Fanny and Rhondy. I don't think this book would be the same without Rhondy. I just love her character so much. She reminds me of my great aunt who always made pies, and food galore. You came to her house, it was rude not to eat when she offered. Maybe it's a southern thing, but I loved her sooo much. Knowing that it was the same with Rhondy warmed my heart and let me shed a couple of tears.
I wish we could have gotten more backstory about Aunt Fanny, because I think she would have been a great addition.
I received a complimentary copy via the author. All opinions are my own, honest and voluntary.
Returning to her hometown of Butterbury, Georgia after traveling the world for almost twenty years, Louella Belle Barnes is in desperate need of a job - any job. After striking out locally, she decides to enter a national home improvement show's competition for a new co-host. She may not have much in the way of construction experience, but she does have a positive attitude, and it's carried her through tougher challenges than this. What could she have to lose?
Meanwhile, the current host of the show, Bo Boone aka Mr. Fix-It, is in the midst of finalizing a contentious divorce. He's had enough of the spotlight after his ex-wife publicly humiliated him and secretly plans to leave the show once they've chosen a new co-host. Sparks fly as soon as Bo and Ella Belle meet, but he backs off when he learns that she's one of the contestants. Dating on set is against the rules, and besides, how can Bo trust that Ella Belle won't break his heart just like his ex did?
I've been reading the Home Sweet Home series out of order, so I've gotten to know Bo and Louella Belle from other stories. I really enjoyed going back to the beginning and learning more about how they met, as well as how she started working with the other "Ladybosses," Mae, Camellia, and Christina. Bo and Ella Belle could not have been cuter together, and I particularly loved learning more about her adventures in the years she was away from Butterbury. I've always known she had a big heart, but it was even more obvious after reading this story.
I highly recommend "Mr. and Mrs. Fix-It Find Love" (and the entire Home Sweet Home series) for all sweet contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans. I can't wait to find out what the author comes up with next!
*Review copy provided by the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
So after reading all of the other books in this series, I finally got to read the prequel that started everything off. Before there was a Designed to Last House and Landscaping show with a group of four Ladybosses, there was a Mr Fix-It show that had a contest to find a Miss Fix-It. This cute and humorous story gives us the contest and the back story of Mr Fix-It, Bo Boone.
Bo Boone had his successful show for many years fixing up houses but he wants out so he comes up with a plan to have a contest to find a Miss Fix-It co-host. Everyone thinks that he will be working right along side her but that's how he plans to leave the show. Bo has a horrible ex-wife who went out of her way to humiliate him even as she flaunted her boyfriend on live TV. He cannot wait until he can get through the final details of his divorce. He's too broken to want another relationship but when he meets Louella Belle in Butterbuty, his heart starts to come alive again. When he finds out that she is one of the contestants for on the show, he starts to back away believing she is just like his ex.
Louella Belle has traveled all over the world and she loves nothing more than to help people who are less privileged than she is. She's returned to Butterbury after finding out six months too late that her aunt has died. She has no job, no home, no money and her creep of a brother is claiming that he inherited all of her aunts properties. She sees the contest for the Miss Fix-It co-host and makes an application because she wants to give her aunt's best friend a cruise trip. She unexpectedly meets Bo Boone before the contest begins and they spend a wonderful evening getting to know one another. Before she can tell him about her being on his contest, he gets a call and leaves so when she shows up for the show, he gives her the cold shoulder.
This story is fast paced and has lots of humor. I was excited to finally get to read the story that started the series as Bo and Louella find their happy ever after.
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.
Brief Synopsis: Louella Belle has been traveling the world for the past 20 years and returns back to her small town home after finding out that her aunt has passed. In finance troubles, Louella Belle decides to enter the contest to be the new Miss. Fix-It on the Mr. Fix-It reality show. She didn’t realize she would run smack dab into the actual Mr. Fix-It , Bo, and then share a slice of pie and a kiss with him. What will he do when he finds out she’s a contestant on his show?
This was a novella I received from the Sweet and Swooney romance promo. It was really cute and I think the whole fix-it /DIY concept was something unique that I haven’t read. Louella Bell was so kind-hearted and honestly tough as nails. I really enjoyed her character. I also feel like this is one of the first romances I’ve read where the characters are in their forties, so that was a nice change. This is a prequel novella to the Home Sweet Home series and I already have Book 1 in my kindle. I also have a couple of books in another of Ellie’s series in my kindle as well. This was cute and fun and I would recommend it.
A Ms. Fixit she’s not. Desperate she is. A fun yet thoughtful story of choices and healing. Louelle Belle has been traveling the world working odd jobs to help others. She is well versed in humanitarian projects and needs they are trying to meet. When she receives word that the aunt who had raised her has died, she leaves everything behind and rushes home even though it had happened six months earlier. Arriving home, she is told by her older brother, Gannon, that everything except an old minivan had been left to him since Aunt Fawn had no children. Now living in the minivan and with no income, she sees an advertisement seeking a woman to co-host a fixit show. Knowing she is not a Ms. Fixit, but desperate, she submits an application for the position. Bo is Mr. Fixit and he is tired of it, he longs for a quieter life but first he needs to find a replacement, a Ms. Fixit. When he literally bumps into Louelle Belle it is the start of a relationship neither expected. Mix in a conniving ex, a lying brother, and assorted matchmakers and friends for a fun entertaining and even thoughtful read. Very enjoyable. . I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
Louella Belle is broke and living out of her van. Her last chance at turning her finances around is to audition to be the new Ms. Fix-It for a home improvement show. Bo Boone, Mr. Fix-It is ready to retire from the limelight but he has to find his replacement first. After a tumultuous marriage and divorce, Bo is not looking for love until a chance meeting with Ella Belle. Now they have to try to hide their undeniable chemistry while working on the show. Is Mr. Fix-It Ella Belle’s Mr. Right?
Mr. and Mrs. Fix-It Find Love is the first book in the Home Sweet Home series. I definitely recommend reading it before the other books as it gives most of the background information needed for the rest of the series. The ending of this book leads into book two. This book is non-spicy but there are some kissing scenes.
I love the MCs awkward meet-cute. These two have chemistry from the very beginning and it only continues to grow throughout the rest of the book. I would consider this an insta-love romance.
There are six books all together in this series and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for quick, sweet reads and fans of home improvement shows.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an e-copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I haven't read any books by Ellie Hall before. But this one won't be my last. I loved her zany characters, funny situations, and the plot of this one.
Louella Belle is such a great character! She's just the right amount of quirky and kindness. I love that she's such a giver. Ella Belle is always doing something for someone else. To the point that she's missed her Aunt's funeral. And she arrived home to Butterbury with nothing at all. This leaves her living in her aunt's beloved delivery van.
And that's when she meets Mr Fix-It, Bo. Bo is a great guy. He just wants out of the show he hosts and for his awful vampire of an ex-wife to leave him alone. That woman was the worst!
I loved that both of the main characters are in their 40's. You don't see many rom-coms with older characters. And I loved how many funny things happen on the Mr Fix-It show. I had no idea that home improvement could be so funny!
Make sure you read this one. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.
I was sent an e-copy of Mr and Mrs Fix-It Find Love as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
This is a cute, fluffy story. I didn’t check if the word count makes it a long novella or a short novel, but you get the idea. It’s a quick and easy read. I would say it’s not quite instalove, but pretty close. We’ll call it instalove adjacent. Louella Belle, a world travelling wanderer, had a lot to deal with after the death of her aunt, and Bo, a famous TV home reno expert, was still grappling with the aftermath of a failed marriage. I liked them both. There is an emphasis on doing good and helping others. This is mainly delivered through Louella Belle, but other characters also promote it through word and deed. There are some fun secondary characters, although they tended to feel more surface level to me. I enjoyed the romance, but overall it did progress a little fast for me. I have a tendency to be a little more skeptical of instalove stories. It is a fun little book. I look forward to reading more of the series. This is book one in the series, so it can be read alone, but you’ll probably be invested in reading the others after you read this one. It’s a clean story with no harsh language.
This was my first time reading Ellie Hall and I feel like she has a fun and unique way of storytelling that sets her apart from other authors who write in the same genre.
Mr. And Mrs. Fix-It Find Love is a quick paced romance that offers plenty of laughs, heartbreak and swoon. I liked the aspect that Louella Belle and Mr Fix-It himself were in their 40s. I don't read many where the characters are in their 40s or older and it adds a nice variety and a different set of situations to a romance that I enjoyed.
Both the FMC and MMC have their own issues to work through between dealing with family affairs following a passing, family deceit and divorce. Those unfortunate circumstances provide the reader with interesting characters who have to hold their own in rough situations and make something more of their lives. Louella Belle is a special one, one who has given so much to others and deserves a little back and definitely romance. The way her story plays out is a fun one.
* I received an advanced copy from the publisher/author and all opinions are my own.
“I can promise you, this pie is the beginning of a love story.” - Bo And what a sweet love story this novella was! Witty, swoony, and all-around enjoyable, I did not want to put this one down! Between the movie references, trash pandas, pie, flannel, and camera-itis, this book makes me want to read the rest of the series. It was also so refreshing to have MCs in their 40’s! Louella Belle is a giver with a healthy addiction to chocolate and a tendency to be slightly clumsy. She has a big heart and she isn’t afraid to stand up to people and tell it like it is, she’s honest and spunky. Bo is a stud in flannel who has been burned in the past and is kind of a fixer-upper. But he is a sweet cinnamon roll and I enjoyed watching him do a little in-home repair job, and finally allow himself to fall in love. The banter is hilarious and the flirty tension between these two was delicious. This is a clean and sweet RomCom, but the kisses are steamy and I promise you lots of swooning!
This book centers around Bo Boone and Louella Belle. Ella recently found out that her aunt had passed…six months ago. She’s currently jobless, homeless and penniless and sleeping in the van her aunt left her. Her brother supposedly inherited the house and everything else that her aunt left. Bo is Mr. Fix-It and he’s looking for a Miss Fix-It to cohost for one season until he retires. He met Ella once and couldn’t get her out of his head. Turns out he’s been married before and she wasn’t a great person; now Ella is signing up to be Miss Fix-it as well. Can Bo bury the past and find actual love this time? Will things get better for Ella and her future? I enjoyed this story but didn’t really connect to any of the characters. I was honestly a little surprised that these girls became best friends in the end.
Clean, cute, teen romance. Kissing? Yes. Cursing? No. Dragatory? Not at all. When reading this book, I had a love hate relationship finnishing it. I loved the story, and wanted the satisfaction of seeing the two love birds work out their problems, but it was a very detailed book which made it feel really drug out. I give this book a 4/5 stars, because it was well written and it did have an amazing stoy line, but it just wasnt as big as a reward for the effort put into reading this. Although, this is a fast read, and thats coming from someone who doesn't perfer taking the time to read, and isn't a fast reader. Every book is worth a chance, one who disliked this book may just not be fit for it. Definitly reccomend checking out other books by this author though, because the writing was good and so was the storyline. 16+ (Only due to attention span)
This was such a cute, sweet, prequel to the series romance. I liked the dynamic between Louella Belle and Bo, the intrigue/mystery, as well as the friendships formed. I don't know if it was the fact that I read a large part of it in one sitting, but I didn't get much of the hot and cold behavior on Bo's part. Still, I definitely enjoyed having his POV, getting to understand where he came from, as well as seeing him overcome past issues. It was also really sweet how Louella Belle's caring and giving personality were a perfect fit for him, yet seeing those characteristics having limits as well. Overall a great introduction to the series, and it's definitely got me interested enough to check out the next one. ~ 4 stars
Celebrity MMC Down-on-her-luck FMC Clean romance with a touch of Christianity
Things I loved: Instant attraction HEA Characters in their 40s "I’m not looking for a stud. Not in this room or in a wall. I’m not looking for a broom or a groom" Pie "Wait a minute, mister. Does that mean dating was ever on the table?” I ask. The corner of Bo’s lip twitches and he splays his hand in question. “I don’t know, but there was pie.” A dreamy sigh escapes. “And it was delicious.” Camera-itis "I have the choice of whether I let intended insults by people like her drown me or ride to the beach.”
Bo: kind, apologies when necessary, willing to grow when necessary.
Louella: Word vomits when nervous, always the bigger person, loves chocolate.
Desperate for income Louella-Bell applied to be the co-host on a Mr. Fix-it TV show. Then she meets and falls for the host. He’s quite smitten himself. It’s against the rules to have relationships with other members of the cast. What are they going to do?
This was a sweet, clean and fun story! I loved Louella-Bell’s generous heart. She was truly remarkable about putting others first. Bo, aka Mr, Fix-It, has a lot to deal with concerning his ex wife. As a result he’s a little gun shy about forming new relationships.
This was set in a very small town which provided some awesome and lovable, side characters. If you’re in the market for a light read with a happily ever after this is the book for you.
Louella Belle (Ella Belle) is kind and giving, she is a true humanitarian. She has spent her life traveling the world, helping those in need. Now down on her luck she signed up for a contest to become a cohost on a home improvement show. I really liked how caring and selfless she is. Always trying to find good in others. Bo is the host of the home-improvement show Mr. Fix it. He has gone through a rough divorce, and has a hard time trusting, let alone thinking of loving again. They’re cute meat, and instant chemistry was so sweet and although there were disagreements and misunderstandings, they were still drawn to each other. There is some drama, but more lighthearted banter, and funny moments. A true romantic comedy with a happy ever after.
Soooo I really enjoyed this book. However, I have to be honest...when I first started it I HATED it 😂 I thought the main character was annoying and dramatic and just cringey. BUT the funny part, the more I read the more I realized that she annoyed me because she was too darn much like me and I was just getting secondhand embarrassment haha.
Overall, I loved this book. It was funny, quirky, and great set up for more books after. I feel like Ellie Halls books are so different and fun than others out there that you can't even compare them to any others. She has her own unique style and this one is definitely fun and unique.
Oh my goodness, I loved this book, it had me laughing out loud. A great romantic comedy! Ella Belle is so fun and quirky but down on her luck. Bo is Mr. Fix-It a little grumpy and not looking for love. These characters are in their 40’s. Ella Belle has traveled the world over helping and giving anything she can. Ella Belle auditions to be on the Mr. Fix-it TV show and then she meets Bo, by literally running into him. I loved the funny things that happened from there and the great friendships that were developed in the wonderful small town of Butterbury. I highly recommend this book for a great quick pick me up 😊
Thank you @elliehallauthor for an early copy of Mr. And Mrs. Fix-It Find Love.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 🤍
Mr. And Mrs. Fix-It Find Love was such a fun prequel to the Home Sweet Home series! I enjoyed each character, especially Louella Belle as she is such a sweetheart. Her chemistry with Bo was interesting, although I quite didn’t like him initially but he had gone through a lot in his past so I guess his behavior is forgivable-ish.
Rating Mr. And Mrs. Fix-It Find Love ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5. This made me want to re-read the series again 👀😏
If you are looking for a sweet, clean, fabulous book to read, do your one-click thing and grab this book! Loella Belle is competing for a position to cohost a show about fixing up houses. Naturally, she knows nothing about these things but she figures why not give it a try. No is the current host of the television show. His chemistry with Loella Belle is immediate and mutual but Bo has some definite trust issues. This book was an incredible read! I found myself feeling sympathetic towards Bo. He did not deserve what happened to him but he did need to open himself up to move on. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
I absolutely loved this story and blew threw the book because I didn’t want to put it down. Ella Belle is a chocolate loving, world traveler who dropped everything to rush home when she got news that her aunt had passed away. Not having much money she applied as a contestant in the Miss Fix It competition. Mr Fix It aka Bo is tired of the rush of life and after a messy divorce is ready for life to slow down.
I loved the dynamic with the characters and am excited to follow along in the series as (im assuming) Ella belle’s friends find love.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
If you’re a longtime reader of my blog, then you know I’m not a big fan of anything Hallmark-y. I respect Hallmark. I respect that other people LOVE Hallmark. I just don’t like Hallmark. And that’s OK. Mr. & Mrs. Fix-It Find Love by Ellie Hall is a sweet and clean Contemporary Romance. For me, it is a Hallmark-kind-of read. I think if you like those kinds of stories — very sweet, fast paced, light and breezy, easy to read — then this is the book for you. It would make for a perfect beach read!
There were a few things I liked. L0uella Belle is a hoot. I loved every second of her internal monologues. She genuinely made me chuckle. I also really love her heart. She adores people and she lives to help others. It is her God-given talent. She would give the shirt off her back if she saw someone in need. I like how easy it is for her to make friends. As a dye-in-the-wool introvert, I’m sort of jealous of Louella Belle’s ease with others. I also enjoyed watching her bring down the walls around Bo’s heart. Honestly, I wish Louella Belle was a real person. I could totally use a friend like her in my life! Bo, the hero of this tale, was BADLY burned by love in the past and he is not in the mood for love. He’s a super cool dude — guy can fix pretty much anything — but he is really hung up on his past. But he sees Louella Belle and can’t help himself. He is instantly drawn to her. Here is where I struggled — everything in this story moves at a pace that feels insta- the whole time: boy and girl meet and instantly make out, boy and girl have slight conflict that is instantly put to rights, and boy and girl have an instant happily ever after. I needed the brakes hit on this story and a little more development anywhere: character development, conflict development, plot development, or thematic development. I’m not picky. I just needed some depth.
I don’t want to discourage anyone from this book or this series. Like I said above, if you’re a Hallmark fan, if you LOVE those types of warm and fuzzy feel-good stories, then you definitely need to check out Mr. & Mrs. Fix-It Find Love!

"Wait. Is this one of those moments? You know the one when time slows down and the two of you are the only people on the planet?"
“Those are hardly muffins. They contain nuts and seeds. Bear food, if you ask me with all the crunch. Nope. I'm a hummingbird and prefer my muffins with butter and sugar.”
This was literally a laugh-out-loud comedy of errors, heart pitter-pattering rooting for the underdog (no pun intended 😉) all around fantastic story.
