Me: What did you like about this book? Fae: I liked because Edna saw her hobgoblin again, the nice one. We didn’t see the bad one but I wish we did, I wish we did. I don’t know where he is, they said he wasn’t in that book so maybe he is in another book not from Sparklegrove Forest. Bye bye, from Fae. I loved the book, bye, from Fae. Me: How many stars? Fae: 5!!
So, the main character in this book is a unicorn named Bo. Bo is super excited because there's a big festival coming up called the Festival of Magic. At this festival, all kinds of magical creatures like trolls, dragons, mermaids, and of course, unicorns, show off their super cool magic tricks. Bo loves magic, and this festival is like a big, glitterific party!
But guess what? Something goes wrong during the Festival of Magic. All the magic from everyone - trolls, dragons, mermaids, and even unicorns like Bo - disappears! Poof, gone! Now, that's a huge problem because magic is what makes everything special and fun.
Bo and all the other magical friends are really sad because they can't do their magic tricks anymore. But they're also brave and determined. They decide to work together to find out where the missing magic went and how to bring it back.
During their adventure, they meet lots of funny and interesting characters, like the Goblin Queen who jumps super high when she hears about a hobo gambler. I laughed so hard at that part!
As they search for the missing magic, Bo and the gang learn something really important. They learn that friendship is a lot like magic. Just like how magic makes things amazing, friends make our lives awesome too. And you know what? It's not about having a ton of friends, just like you said. Even one or two really good friends can make your life super happy.
I liked this book because it was full of excitement, adventure, and of course, glitter! The author did a terrific job making the characters feel real, and I could imagine myself right there with them. The best part was when Bo and the others never gave up, no matter how tricky things got.
So, if you love unicorns, magic, and going on adventures with friends, you should totally read "Unicorn Diaries: The Missing Magic." It's a glitterific story that will make you smile and think about the magic of friendship!
And remember, just like Bo and their friends, you don't need a gazillion friends. Three or four awesome friends can be all you need to have a super happy life. Friendship is the real magic!
The Missing Magic by Rebecca Elliott is an enchanting addition to the Branches series that is perfect for young readers who are just starting to explore chapter books. In this story, we follow unicorn friends who are faced with a captivating mystery: the sudden disappearance of magic in their world. Elliott's storytelling shines with whimsical charm and gentle humor, making it an engaging read for kids aged 5-8.
One of the standout aspects of this book is its approachable language, which strikes the perfect balance between challenge and readability for early readers. The illustrations are delightful and add an extra layer of magic to the narrative, bringing the characters and their adventures to life. The themes of friendship, teamwork, and resilience are subtly woven into the story, offering valuable lessons without being overly didactic.
Rebecca Elliott's skill in creating relatable characters, even in a fantastical setting, ensures that children can easily connect with the story. The plot's light mystery keeps readers engaged, encouraging them to turn pages with anticipation. The book’s length and pacing are ideal for young readers who are transitioning from picture books to more text-heavy stories.
Overall, The Missing Magic is an excellent choice for parents, teachers, and young readers looking for an imaginative tale that sparks curiosity and fosters a love for reading. It's a delightful blend of magic, friendship, and a touch of adventure that will leave kids eager for more stories from the series.
Everyone in Sparklegrove Forest is getting ready for the Big Festival of Magic. The unicorns will be involved for the first time, showing off some of their magical abilities. But when magic suddenly stops working for everyone the festival is in danger and things could get really hard. Can the unicorns figure out what stopped the magic?
A nice little mystery for Bo and friends to solve. I like that this involved the unicorns listening to an elderly gnome's wisdom and insight that others ignore. Just like Bo and friends, there's a lot we can learn from our elders if we are willing to listen. There's also a nice little message about not everyone in a group being bad necessarily if just one does a bad thing.
The Big Festival of Magic is less than a week away, and Bo, as well as all the other unicorns of Sparklegrove School of Unicorns (SSU) can't wait. They will have the opportunity to earn their Magic patch by using their powers in a new way. But all of their magical powers disappear suddenly, leaving Queen Juniper with no other choice but to cancel the festival. Will the unicorns be able to find out what happened to everyone's magic?
Bo Tinsentail shares from her diary about the events that happened before the Big Festival of Magic, that almost caused it to be canceled by Queen Juniper, when all the magic disappeared from Sparklegrove Forest.
As Bo and her friends are trying to complete their next badges, the magic in the first disappears. They seek the help of a mysterious old gnome to restore the magic. I enjoyed this one, although I'm still not a fan of the unicorns not having parents.
Great story about the unicorns who are trying to figure out why their magic is no longer working. Super cute illustrations. Kids will enjoy the adventure. Highly recommended for Grades 3-5.
