“Don’t go into the woods alone at night, Chloe.”The life of a teenager sure isn’t easy, but for rebellious sixteen-year-old Chloe, that’s an understatement.
When her dad remarries, the two uproot their quiet lives to move in with his new wife, Kelly, and her eclectic family. Adjusting to her new life with this massive group of misfits is a lot easier said than done – especially when you throw boy problems into the mix.
High school bullies are a breeze, but Dylan’s hot and cold attitude toward her? That just might drive her insane.
But is the unreadable Dylan really the worst of her problems, or the least of them?
What is it that her dad, Kelly, and the rest of her new family are keeping from her? Why are they so overprotective? And just how many of them are there?!
As her new family and town’s mysteries unfold and everyone’s secrets are revealed, will Chloe be able to accept and stick by her new family, or will she end up a lone wolf?
Or worse... dead?

This is a sweet young adult paranormal romance. It’s fast-paced and I liked the world that the author created. I do wish that the book had been edited a little more thoroughly–more on a developmental level. While the book’s a standalone, there’s a twist at the 60% mark that makes me think there might be another book previous to this one in a series, because there was no build up for that twist (a new character and storyline introduced) whatsoever. All in all, this book was an entertaining “clean” romance read, with very little violence, despite the premise and direction of the plot. 3 stars
POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2023: This book fulfills the "A book about a family" category.
If everyone was open and honest from the beginning there would’ve been less issues. I think she forgave Dylan far too easily. She should’ve been more unforgiving.
2.5 meh stars. Chloe has moved into a her stepmom’s house with her dad. They have a bunch of teens and people that are living there or hanging around. Chloe is “hot” and every male famous or basic, good or evil (but all hot, let’s make that clear) want her. She’s 16. Give me an f-ing break. Dylan is the hottest of all, of course, but he doesn’t fall all over her so she feels he must be disgusted by her ugly self. To get over it she finds a simp or 2 to buy her clothes and shoes so she feels better about herself. She eventually finds herself a pawn in a war between werewolf packs and gets kidnapped twice. But it’s okay because she’s so nice and cool that the other pack is willing to betray their own pack for her. And though she’s kidnapped and has weird random anxiety attacks her dad trusts her and honestly barely notices when she’s gone, returned or had the crap beaten out of her. After all, he trusts her to handle herself. 🙄
The action was good (except the split kick while having someone in a headlock—that was hilarious and ridiculous).

Book started out fantastic. Excellent grammar, spelling, and story line. However, when adding in the witch and vampires, it felt a little sudden. Also, the ending felt a little abrupt. Maybe an epilogue? It also felt like it was building to her becoming something more, but it never crested that peak.
If I could give this a .5 rating I would but to be honest this book had way too many plot line changes and so many characters in it that I was more along the lines thinking what’s gonna happen now. I totally understand it’s supposed to be young adult truly really think at sixteen your really not thinking of you 10 year plan but wow so much for one girl to handle.
Love Chloe she is a perfect blend of sassy yet confident and a side of badass. She is human but she has a witch best friend and is pretty much falling in love with a wolf boy. Did I mention her stepmom is a badass alpha female wolf. Yeah there isn’t much about the stepmom and I swear the Dad is awesome really could use more meat in this book.
Love Amy, Lisa, and Emma as well as all the boys Tom, Ethan, and Alex I wouldn’t mind reading some sweet side novella of there relationship and how there lives are. Jesse and jacquline need a story I feel like they need to find love too.
This book has so many characters and so many subplots I feel like I just overloaded my brain. Dylan was sweet and confusion and angsty all in one swallow it was too much angsty mixed with shifting subplots that oh btw my witch best friend can fix it all.
Good world building if this book branches out into more I think it would have a good reader base. I bought this book, but I’ll probably not feel the need to re-read this like I do a lot of my other books. 3.5 rating to be honest. I’ll look at this authors other books but so far I’m not a fan of her writing style.
Almost DNF’d but the ending came before I could. (SPOILERS)
This read more like a creative writing class assignment than a book.
SPOILERS AHEAD….
First there wasn’t really any depth to any of the characters. There wasn’t really any world building. There were inconsistencies throughout, for example she talked about driving to the mall in the beginning then later talks about her dad won’t have money to buy her a car when she gets her license. Also the guy asks her to be his girlfriend then she has a freak out about if they’re exclusive. Also she’s 16 and immediately goes on a date with a 19 year old before getting into a relationship with her boyfriend who I’m not sure we know the age of I’m guessing under 18 because he’s going to high school. In the last like 15% of the book out of nowhere there is a feud between packs that there is no lead up to. Then there is a witch best friend out of nowhere. She’s rescued, kidnapped again, magically turned werewolf, bad guy unalived, she jumps to ridiculous conclusions, she’s attacked again bad guy unalived, mate bond story ends. So like I said I was on the verge of DNF’ing and all of a sudden the book was done it was confusing.
I loved the cover, but am very confused. She’s not a skater chic. Skateboarding is a very minimal mention in the book? This was a very easy read, but did have a couple of holes. What happened with the famous skateboarding guy who showed an interest in her? What was her previous encounter with vampires? What was her experience with guys roughing her up before? And what’s with the no homework thing? That was a bit unrealistic. And no repercussions with beating up the ugly sisters? No police sniffing around or the school getting involved. And it’s eluded to that Dylan is the beta but not clarified. Some frustration around the FMC not being in the know with all her friends. I generally enjoyed it. I do think the last couple of pages was a bit simple and just tied up the story neatly after some very clear (and justified) trust issues. It all just miraculously works out ok. I wish it would have built to that more gradually and believably. Overall ok though.

This is realy realy hard to review... this feels like .. when you watch an awsome sequel movie but have to wait for the next movie only theres no next.... luke the book is Amazing and alot of details into the storyline and stuff the ending felt throw together... like were together but no follow through... n the kids thing that suck bigggggg time like come on couldn't u have made the true mate thing able to overcome no kids.... n I find it hard she trys to understand/respect his culture but can't respect his instincts to be her protector and not want another mail around her... the girl power goes a lil to far to the point it makes him look week..
I rated this 3 stars but it was more of a 3.5. I definitely recommend this if you love: the supernatural, found family, LIGHT romance, and easy reads. I've read many books centered around werewolves so I'd like to mention that the wolf "lore" was pretty unique in this book. The ending was a little bit rushed (I think it would've made a better series), but it's not too bad. If werewolves and blondes are your style then check this out!
Good story but a lot different than the normal shifter books .Werewolves that can't have kids unless its by a human, Really weird , Strange ! Definitely out of the norm. Story was interesting though. Some of it not my cup of tea. Read if you totally like something that's interesting on a different level.
It's okay for a young adult. But it just kinda a was. It brought in a potential ex that added nothing to the story. They brought in a vampire to 2ork with the wolf but added no background, no why he was. Tried to kidnap her again just to die with no explanations.
It's like it should be a prequel to another service
Probably would have found this juvenile even if I was in the target demographic. Yes, it’s paranormal, but there’s nothing remotely realistic about the scenarios described and reads like an adolescent has written it how they think an adult would write the same. Cringe.
I could stop reading if I had wanted to! All the friends and all the family members make this book even better but the main characters heart is the best part!
DNF I picked this book back up many times hoping it would get better. It never did, quit 50$. Even for a YA book the writing is very choppy, conversations and thoughts seem incomplete. story weak, she's too accepting. Overall did not like , would not recommend.
I liked parts of the story. It seemed really rushed in parts. I also don't understand why the female and male shifters can't reproduce with each other. It was not my kind of shifter story.
