Pride. Greed. Lust. Envy. Gluttony. Wrath. Sloth. The sins that make us our own worst enemy.
And at any given time, we all could fall victim to them. Fighting those demons at times seems impossible. Especially when they come to life…
FBI agent Emma Griffin has seen her share of dark and twisted murders. When she's called onto a new case, Emma finds herself baffled and horrified by the crime scene. Cream colored tags. Mysterious spirals. Words with seemingly no meaning. Victims with tags that don’t seem to correspond to their “sin”. The “greed” victim is neither wealthy or indulgent and the “gluttony” victim seems to lead a healthy lifestyle. As Emma dives deeper into the case, other mysteries that impact her life start closing in. The more truths Emma uncovers the more bizarre turns this “Seven Deadly Sins” case takes, and the more of a target Emma becomes. As the mystery unfolds, Emma finds that these murders are connected to a part of her past she considered long over…
You can run or hide, but escape is not an option. In the end the sin of our past turns into demons that will come after all...
As usual, the book pulls you back into Agent Emma Griffin's world. I especially like this book because it reveals some of her past in the early days of her being in the FBI. She finally gets closure and put a series killer's reign of terror to an end. Her skills and attention to details help her solve the case. Not only that but her friend has solved another mystery while going under cover in a prison tying her current case in with that of her uncle. I love how the stories connect and go on but I can't help but think there has to be an end in sight for catching her uncle and solving the mysteries of the Emperor. This is a wonderful group of family and friends, and I can't help but feel invested in their stories. Once again I am anxiously waiting for another book from this talented writer.
Another great story in the continuing saga of FBI Agent Extraordinaire Emma Griffin. The culprit is never revealed until the very end, and yet, there are several mysteries that have continued throughout the series of 19 books. This continues to be a worthwhile read even throughout the 19 book series. I look forward to Emma, Sam, Dean, Xavier, Eric and Ian's next unsolved cases. And, lest we forget about Jonah.... You will need to read the whole series to see the role he plays in the ongoing mystery. Thank you for continuing to write these books A.J. Rivers!
This author write intriguing fascinating mysteries with lots of suspense. I actually really like most of her characters, I can even find reasons to somewhat like Jonah. The big issue is I range from don’t really like to outright hate her main female character. She had seemed to have outgrown most of her too stupid to live tendencies so I could at least move her from “I hate this character” to I don’t particularly like this character but this book moved her back down the scale towards hate. Explaining all the reasons why she is too stupid to live does not excuse it when she continues to act like that. At her age she should have worked through, got better at acting like a normal human or been either forced or chose to have intensive long term therapy to both remember and deal with her past. I’m not surprised she is affected by her life but in her case these are not scars from the past they are still open wounds that she buried in the back of her mind and tries to forget the damage. Her cousin Dean has similar damage but his shows in the fact he has a dissociative disorder. That is what his blackout are. They are part of a defense mechanism his brain created when he was too young to protect himself and unable to escape or process what was happening to him. No matter what the author intended when she made blackouts part of his persona blackouts that aren’t a result of and sometimes are a result of alcohol, drugs, being knocked unconscious, etc. I do find it interesting that so many of the characters have symptoms of actual disorders, mental illnesses and these disabilities are so well presented yet are never really addressed. I can’t figure out if it is completely accidental or if the author is trying to normalize these conditions into something seen as normal behavior. She does the characters and the readers who live with those actual conditions a serious disservice by making it seem like “you too can do all this without ever getting help”. This goes beyond suspension of disbelief into the FBI, Army, Special Forces, PI training and licensing etc into some kind of fantasy land where a single person can hide and safely carry out their job with no problem a serious psychological condition.
Book Review: The Girl and the 7 Deadly Sins by A.J. Rivers
Rating: 🐾🐾🐾 Genre: Thriller Published: 3/18/22
Review: I was a little disappointed in this book. I have liked the other books in the series, but this one was a little too slow for me. It’s hard to say exactly what didn’t do it for me without spoiling parts of the book…I can see that there is going to be another book soon as this book left off on a clue of the next one. Will continue to read the series, but I’m starting to like the Ava James series a little more now.

19th book in the Emma Griffin FBI Series, 'The Girl and the 7 Deadly Sins' is a great read to me. Someone from Emma's early days in the FBI returns to pay a visit. Only the visit deals with the 7 Deadly Sins. Pride. Greed. Lust. Envy. Gluttony. Wrath. Sloth.
Xavier is off to prison to see if he can figure out how Jonah escaped. Emma is pulled in multiple ways, as she is trying to work on multiple cases at a time. There's a conspiracy on her life.
I think the reason this one was so good is because there was no hint of who the culprit was until the last 30 pages. Which is strange, bc you usually have some idea of who the culprit is. I could have missed hints of it, I don't think so though. 🤷

I quite enjoyed reading The Girl and the 7 Deadly Sins. This time the book concentrated on the crime taking place at the moment and less so on the other secondary stories such as the Emperor and Emma’s uncle. I found this the perfect balance. I won’t mind a book solely about Emma’s uncle and the Emperor if it finally brings that story to its conclusion. It has been dragging on too long now and Emma doesn’t need that storyline to make her an interesting character all on her own with her supporting characters solving the insolvable.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. First couple of chapters were kinda slow, then the fun gets serious. Emma, an FBI agent is drug into a serial killers bazaar method of killing. She is still fighting her own past, that seems to put her in the crosshairs of the murders. Well developed plot and great characters. I've gotten hooked on Emma, her story. A great read, you won't be disappointed!
As usual , enjoyable , quick read, but somehow it just seemed to solve all of a sudden, last few pages. I still have an issue with dragging a plot line on forever, book after book, but I am a solid fan, and will keep coming back. I do love the way Rivers divides her series into "Season 1", "Season 2", because it very much reminds me of a television series, or limited streaming series. Would LOVE to see that!!
It's been a busy time for all the gang. Xavier is undercover in prison, Sam is running the Sheriff's Dept and running down clues about his cousin Marie since she has been found dead in a drug smugglers warehouse. Emma and Dean and Eric are running down names and companies and how they relate to the latest killing spree in which Emma was one that got away.
Read in 2022 - good read. I love having Xavier more involved in this one, it’s good to have him back and finally out of jail. And I’m excited to hear how he figured out how Jonah got out of jail, I never doubted that he would figure that out. It is a little bit of a slow read but I like how it takes you back to Emma’s very early days as an FBI agent and also, more vulnerable because of what happens to her back then.

Good gosh, one case solved and another bomb dropped from an ongoing one! Suspense has me one the edge of my seat and hoping the next book comes quickly! Emma is like a bulldog, getting stuck on something and not letting go. Can’t wait to hear what Xavier has to say about his investigation.
I am totally addicted to the Emma Griffin FBI series. Oh my gosh..I have hated when each book ended. I couldn’t wait to read the next one. But here I am at #19 and no new book. Ugh..what am I going to read now. Your books are so well written. The twists the turns keep me coming back for more. Thank you for being an awesome writer.
So you got all the answers but we cannot know them until the next book. I probably will just quit reading this series because you can't seem to finish for th readers benefit. You would get a five star review if you could just finish the stories and write some stand alones. Are you afraid we readers wouldn't view you as a good writer?
I hope this continue s for a while longer. Looking forward to number 20 Hurl
I hope you continue with Emma and Sam for many more story s. Looking forward to number 20 .. But I hope Sam and Emma get to have more time together. I finished this series in about a month so for now I'm going to read about Ava James
Just finished this and as usual enjoyed it tremendously. All of the books in the Emma Griffin series are amazing. Never know what the end will be like and is always a surprise. Start with the first (The girl in cabin 13) and follow from there. You won’t be disappointed. BTW. I am starting the Ava James series now and I am sure it will be just as addictive. Emma Griffin was her mentor.
I really enjoyed this one in the series! I love the cat and mouse game with Emma and Jonah. However, it’s always the same kind of convo where Emma says she’s done with him and yells at him, etc. The serial killer storyline was so much fun to read! I take a melatonin before bed and read, but I was so entertained I would fight sleep!

So far these stories have not disappointed me. I have enjoyed them immensely. There have been times that the mixture of past and present become blurred and seems like sometimes a section is thrown in because the writer needed to make it more of a mystery or added suspense, but eventually things come together.
One of her last cases in this series has Emma Griffin fighting her past, her memories and once again narrowly escaping her own death. Emma and her f&f (friends and family) wind themselves into more interesting and quite complicated situations. A real page turner !
The lead in story left me wondering who was the woman. With a couple more deaths similar to two awhile ago Emma finally tells her story. She was the woman who was attacked. The reason for the murders was interesting and how she finally figured out who was the killer was also interesting. Good story.
This book doesn't get as heavy as earlier books. But, it's a good plot and continues "the serial" as I have come to recognize it. Further character development and linking of the present to the pass continue. It's a good yarn and lighter to handle than some of the predecessors.
Have been reading the series. I'm finding Emma's going into dangerous situations too unrealistic. The character should be developing as a seasoned FBI agent and be more careful instead of going by herself into danger. It shouldn't take the excitement out of the books.
I have truly enjoyed every book in this series and this one did not disappoint neither. Emily and the gang continue to solve yet another serial killer and get more information to get them closer to figuring out how to find Jonas and parts of the crazy puzzle that seems to get crazier each book. Can’t wait to start book 30!
I was at the edge of my seat the entire time! Such a great read. Love how her and the gang work together to solve these mysteries. They truly make her so much stronger, I loved the reveal of what the mystery was and the description of each sin diving into the investigation even further
I really like this book 19th of Emma Griffin and her husband and family. I just hate that I finished it already and have to wait on the 20th book. I really hope it's soon.
A.J. Rivers has done it again, leaving so many questions unanswered. Can’t wait for the next book. Fantastic development of characters and story line. Suspense at every turn.
This book did not have the excitement like all the rest in this series. I must say this book was boring. This series is always very exciting and thrilling but this book was not. Hope the next book in this series has more intrigue and thrills.
Can't wait for the next one to come out. The suspense continues to build with each story. My interest in seeing what happens next continues to build and hopefully we don't have to wait long for the story to come out.
Emma remind s me of Texas Ranger! One riot , one Ranger
A. J. never fails to keep me guessing. You know Emma will get the job done but the path she takes, is never boring. Her dedication is what all law enforcement should have.
I love the Emma Griffin series. I love feeling like I know her and her family so well. When I start any of AJ Rivers’ books, I can’t put them down. They catch your interest right away and never let up until the last page. Can’t wait until book 20!
