Mytologická zvířata. Od bazilišků k jednorožcům

Rate this book
Jaký je rozdíl mezi duchem a démonem? Jak rozeznáte dobrého džina od zlého? Kde hledat přízraky či mantikory? Co říkal Hérodotos o vlkodlacích? V této zábavné knížečce prozkoumává televizní producentka a mytozooložka Tam O’Malleyová roztodivný svět mytologických zvířat, od víl zvěstujících smrt přes harpyje, gryfy až k upírům. Dodnes na nás tyto bytosti působí uhrančivě a ožívají v knihách, na plátně i v naší představivosti.

A short and interesting book about mythological beasts. I would've appreciated it more if it were a bit longer. And went into more detail with some of the beasts.

A stunning little book that’s surprisingly broad with its history and cultures. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer.

More 2.5. But I love me a woodcut. And a banshee.

A good read, but very, very short. If you're looking for a quick introduction or a reference guide to learning the very bare-bones basics of different mythological creatures, then this is a great start. I appreciated that the author would bold the names of other creatures, so that you could either look them up in the book or research them somewhere else. Really interesting content, but I wish that it had been longer, as I feel like this just whetted my appetite for reading about these creatures.
