Soliel—Dusk—is a banshee, living in a divided world, where he’s seen as the villain, but that doesn’t stop him from fighting against it, or those in power who seek to keep Mythikos at war with itself.
He'd thought things would be easier with Jericho at his side, but something is festering in Mythikos' underbelly.
Faced with the source of the darkness, Soliel will have to decide which is more important, the crumbling city, or its people crying for help.
In this epic conclusion to the Villainous Heroics duology, loyalties are put to the test, friendships are stretched to their limits, and villains become the heroes they never thought they could be.
A LGBTQ+ fantasy scifi novel for fans of J. Elle’s Wings of Ebony, Marissa Meyer’s Renegades, and April Daniels’ Dreadnought.
Born and raised in a small town near the Chesapeake Bay, Lou Wilham grew up on a steady diet of fiction, arts and crafts, and Old Bay. After years of absorbing everything, there was to absorb of fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi she's left with a serious writing/drawing habit that just won't quit. These days, she spends much of her time writing, drawing, and chasing a very short Basset Hound named Sherlock.
When not, daydreaming up new characters to write and draw she can be found crocheting, making cute bookmarks, and binge-watching whatever happens to catch her eye.
Thank you to booksirens and publishers for the eARC
Heroics is the second book to Villainous.
I loved Villainous and our main characters Sol and Jericho, so I had to find out what happened next for them.
The setting of this novel seemed more quick paced compared to the first novel. It had a darker feel to it and the development was great. The twists and turns were surprising and any questions I had felt answered in this conclusion. The ending was great but felt fast paced and rushed, However that could have been me feeling overwhelmed with it ending.
I really enjoyed falling back into the story with J and Sol.
This series is the first one I've read by Lou Wilham but I believe I just found a new fav author!!! No need to say I have a lot of books by Lou on my Kindle waiting for the end of my school term!
I wasn't expecting what will happen in this book when I was beginning it at all. And the first half of it was giving more similar vibes to the first book (Villainous - 5 star) so I loved it but it turned way too darker in the second half. Let me say that first, I loved both fluffy and darker parts of this series and the diversity of the characters, the world-building, writing style, character development, etc. I still think everything is soo captivating and cool BUT the ending... well, I don't say I'm disappointed with how the ending turned out, I'm just saying everything happened soo fast towards the end. I'm gonna miss Sol and J <3

3.5 star rating
This novel is the conclusion to the fantastical duology that follows Jericho and Sol, as they fight to survive in such a corrupt world. Now on the same side, both protagonists sense an imminent threat to the world they live in, and they must conceal themselves well enough in order to discover the truth. When secrets are spilled, they both have to depend on each other as power shifts beneath them, and they have to resolve the conflict and fight for justice, before it's too late and the looming threat swallows them whole.
I enjoyed the pacing and development of this novel a bit more than the first one. I also felt a much deeper connection to the characters as their emotional and vulnerable sides were explored more thoroughly. However, the entire conflict of the White Rabbit felt a bit underdeveloped and not paced very well. I think that I would have enjoyed this novel a bit more if it was longer. There were many areas of conflict and just when I felt invested, the resolution was there and the story moved on, and there were some intense scenes that could have flourished if they were paced slower.
Overall, I really like the characters the most. The plot is still growing on me because I had my personal expectations of action and angst, but it was still a really good duology with well-fleshed-out characters. I am grateful to Booksirens again for allowing me to read such a unique duology.
I LOVE Sol and J. These characters just seeped into my heart and hung on with a death grip. 😅
I love the world, the nods to Wonderland, the characters, J and Sols relationship is spot on for them. The LGBTQIA+ rep is always brought in Wilham's books and Heroics is no different.
It's dark, gritty, filled with sarcastic humor and the ending is A++
Can't wait to have the paperback on my shelf!
*I recieved a gifted arc from the author which I voluntarily read and chose to review*
What a great conclusion to the tale! Any questions I had were answered, even questions I did not even know I had. I had fun reading this and was even surprised a time or two! Now that I think about it, I'm almost sad to leave this world behind.
a great sequel to the Villainous Heroics series, I had enjoyed the previous book Villainous. The characters were what I wanted and I enjoyed the writing style.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have been so excited to read the second part to this story as I absolutely loved book one ‘Villainous’ when I read it last year. I really love the two main characters Jericho and Dusk, their whole relationship is the emotional core of this novel. The first book saw them on opposite sides but now they are united and working to try and make Mythikos a safer place for all.
‘Villainous’ was told from J’s perspective and now it’s the turn of Dusk’s perspective in ‘Heroics’. I think Dusk/Soliel is my favourite character in this series and I loved hearing his voice in this novel. He is so strong but so vulnerable at the same time and his love for J is really beautiful. I don’t want to say more because I don’t want to spoil anything but I would highly recommend this series.
I received a gifted copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion and written voluntarily.
