A Fae forged weapon. Mysterious Murders. And a run-in with my ex-husband and his new wife. Seems as if Fate has it in for me.
When I get a call about the mysterious deaths of two paranormals, I'm pulled back to the last place I ever want to be: the city I fled after my nasty divorce. The magical world depends on me to solve its problems, and this one time, I truly resent it.
Of course, my arrival couldn't go unnoticed, and now I'm facing a lawsuit for alimony while the lives of those I love the most are on the line.
The evil behind Myrna's previous treachery resurfaces, making me question everything. Nothing is as it seems, though. I certainly didn't expect to find myself on a mission to prove my ex-husband's new wife is not a murderer.
Joined by a flamboyant baker, a talented dwarf, and some very fierce pixies, I'm prepared for battle. But I'd be lying if I said I felt confident. Too many important things are now on the chopping block, and for the first time since getting my magic from Hattie, I'm afraid of failing everyone who is relying on me.
I truly loved the unique way in which the author introduced some of the supernatural people in this book. Although, this is the first book in the series I have read it mostly worked okay as a stand alone except for the cliffhanger ending. The one confusing part I found were the names. Phoebe and Aidon both have more than one name and they are used interchangeably throughout the book, which was a bit confusing at first. Once I picked this up the book flowed really well. Bothe the world building and the characters were amazing with lots of detail included so you could almost picture yourself right next to the characters as the book progressed. I have to say that the fact of Miles being a vindictive ex really helped me to enjoy it more as it relates to my situation. I found myself enjoying it all the more because of some similarities to my own life. I will be starting this series from the beginning so I can better understand the multiple names and characters that are named throughout this book. Looking forward to book number 8 in this series!!.

Phoebe’s middle-age life just doesn’t seems to slow down. As fast as she solves one crisis, another looms needing immediate attention. When Nina calls in a panic that someone may have murdered her dad, Phoebe, Aidoneus, and the crew race to North Carolina -- back in her old hometown where her miserable ex-husband, Miles, resides -- to investigate the murder of two paranormals by means of a Fae axe. Will they have to deal with the evil Myrna again? Is she the one wielding the axe? And what is she up to now?
I really enjoyed the interactions among the characters which give the reader a better understanding of each. The story line is intriguing and provides the reader with fast-paced action and adventure. And despite everything going on, Phoebe is handling each crisis like the pro she is! Step off at the cliffhanger – another adventure is quickly on its way!
Nina answered Phoebe's phone in the early morning hours and it was a call saying there had been a murder at a park in North Carolina where Phoebe's ex, Miles, runs every morning. The caller hung up and Nina immediately panicked worrying that it had been Miles (her Dad) and screamed for Phoebe. It wasn't Miles but, it was a paranormal that was killed so, Phoebe and the gang had to go investigate but, not before taking care of Marius, the vampire head for her area. This all becomes a mess of epic proportions. This was an awesome book, I truly adore this series! This book ends on a cliffhanger, so, be forewarned! I highly recommend this book and series. Chomping at the bit waiting on pins and needles for the next book......
Listen up fantasy lovers! This is the 2nd series I have read of Brenda Trim’s and completely taken! It takes a lot of effort to get into a new writer and a new storyline but Brenda makes it totally effortless! I have always loved an author who can connect characters from one series to another and simultaneously stay in the timeline. All of her books are easy to read bringing the characters to life and caring about their adventures and their outcomes. I have enjoyed every single book and will continue to enjoy them all! The hardest part will be the waiting as she writes them…
as strong as Phoebe and her friends are, she still falls into some dangerous traps.
Marius the master vampire and his penchants for harming innocents is one such set of dangers.
Another is her ex and his viability as bait.
can she survive the various battles? will all those around her?
intense psychological thriller with supernatural drama and action, and more than one plot thread left dangling until the next adventures in this series.

After I downloaded my review copy, I was a little confused. There are alot of characters and backstories that I just didn't understand. So, I bought all of the books in the series, and I loved it. Each book was a complete story and built upon the book before, until this one. The story was even more engrossing than the last one and I was totally invested, until the end. The dreaded cliffhanger that denies the reader closure. Hopefully the next one will be out really soon.

When a call comes in that a body has been found in the park she used to take her kids to, being the area Pleiades, Phoebe has to investigate, even though she has to travel to her old stomping grounds in North Carolina. To make matters worse, she runs into her ex and his Demon Spawn when the group stops at a restaurant in town. This story has plenty of action of the magical kind, much romance, steam, and snarky comments, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Gripping to the point, I could not put this one down. Yes, I would say you would get more enjoyment to read the series in order, but what I love about Brenda Trim’s writing is she sneaks in background story beautifully. If you forget something, you won’t for long. The complex characters will have you yearning for more but alas, it does end in a cliffhanger. I enjoyed the thrill and mystery in the search of the killer. Excellent read!❤️❤️❤️.
This series just keeps getting better. I definitely suggest reading the books in order. This one is full of action, suspense and twists. But it also gives us a bit of the romance we crave. Phoebe has to do some digging in a place she never thought she'd return to. The Team works together to destroy the latest threat. I also loved reading more about the kids. I'm warning you though, this one ends with a huge cliffhanger. this is my honest opinion of an early copy I received.
These books are very entertaining. I love how the characters have grown and developed. Each story is different, different types of paranormal beings , circumstances, issues and solutions. I look forward to the next book with each ending. I don't like that each book is left with a opening to the next. Call me crazy I like a small bow at the end of stories.
The mysteries and adventures keep coming! Phoebe and her crew are off hunting a serial killer back in her old hometown and of course she has a run-in with her ex. But with her crew and Aidon having her back, she gets through that challenge only to face an even bigger threat! Beware-this book ends on one heck of a cliffhanger. I hope the next installment comes out quickly!.

This was a very good book. Phoebe was still coming into her own and had to work on her insecurities. She was still somewhat soft-hearted but had to learn sometimes you have to set an example. I liked that even though she had a fashionista she stuck with what made her comfortable. Even with all her power she is still only human and makes a bad mistake. I just hope she comes out guns blazing.

I despise cliffhanger books! I would have bought the next book anyway and have, but I don't like being forced into it. Give me the choice and I am a friend for life and will give you the five stars you deserve. Regardless of all my whining, this story is well written and a good one. The plot is easily followed, the main and supporting characters are interesting and lovable, and the loyalty between the characters is admirable. I definitely recommend this book
Fae Forged Axes & Chin Waxes (Midlife Mysteries & Magic Book 18) by Brenda Trim. Phoebe, Aidoneus, Stella and Tsekani go to North Carolina to investigate a murder. While there she meets up with her son and Fiona’s children and helps the two boys centre their magic. When she eventually meets the witch killing paranormals she finds it’s the witch behind Myrna who she had killed after Myrna had caused so many problems. Will she be able to defeat Zaleria.
I love this author's works, I have read every book in the series. Phoebe is a very special witch and her love interest Aidonous a God of the underworld.
The writings that good you could read as a standalone but highly recommend the series.
Ends on a cliff hanger !!!!.

The only thing wrong with this book, is that it ended on a cliffhanger! The interaction between the characters is wonderful and the storyline is entertaining and filled with action and adventure. I really can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
So someone has killed two Supernaturals in an effort to lure Phoebe to the town she spent her married life in. Her husband and his tart are a piece of work. Phoebe helps some kids. All this in a matter of days! Unfortunately we have to wait till October to see how this plays out. I think it will be worth the wait.
Murders have been committed and Phoebe is going to investigate. Unfortunately, this time she is facing a tainted witch more powerful than any other. I absolutely love these characters. Exciting action, magic, and unexpected twists in the plot. Fantastic book!
Phoebe is back n kicking butt! Aidon and the gang are back also and this time the kids get into the story. Bad stuff going on, bad gal is doing bad gal stuff. The ending is a cliff hanger, a bit different than usual but my bet is on Phoebe. Looking forward to more Phoebe n gang! i was happy that the Mystical Midlife in Maine continued, it was what I was hoping for in this type of book. The story was wonderful and I enjoyed getting back to these characters. I can't wait to read more from Brenda Trim.

I have been enjoying this series, but I'm very turned off by an author who would leave a story hanging (literally - there's no conclusion) so you HAVE to buy the "next" book in order to get the ending of this particular adventure. So realistically, this is an incomplete story. Bad form Ms. Trim!
I've enjoyed the previous books in this series. This one really seemed stuck to me. Lots of Phoebe self-awareness issues (over and over). Constant guilt and doubting. The story line didn't really move forward much, and the cliff hanger was abrupt. Especially since the book wasn't that long. I was a little disappointed in this one.
Love the way Brenda Trim archers up the tension while throwing in hysterical comments to soften the blow. Her choice of midlife issues are spot on while situations with paranormal characters become more complex that seems to be impossible to go overcome!
Another enjoyable with characters I can’t get enough of especially Aidoneus. Once again Phoebe is needed when a call comes in that someone was murdered. Who Phoebe sees it’s like nothing anyone experienced. This was good read and definitely can’t wait too see what will happen next.
Phoebe returns to her home town and reluctantly crosses path with her ex and his girlfriend. There to help solve a double murder with the help of her mate and best friend, her powers are put to the test literally and figuratively. The cliffhanger just left me shocked . Wow what a great read!
I was totally sucked into the book, unable to put it down, and now I'm crushed. It was so intense and retribution was coming and now I have to wait for the next book. Sigh...
I love this series and this is a solid story, but this story was a bit more convoluted than usual and the cliffhanger was really unnecessary. I’m disappointed.
I like this series but I was shocked at the cliff hanger ending! Now I am even more looking for the next in the series! There is always something going down in that world. Very entertaining and I love the romance as well. I recommend this book.
