Marci, a super soldier and escapee of the Astral’s bio-enhancement military program Zedger, has found a new purpose in rescuing others like her. But she can’t do it alone, and not without parts. Marci must travel to the last standing city of Tellurians in the irradiated expanse of Zion. There, in EsoTerra, she must fight for her right to trade with others for what she requires.
She tries to hide her identity, mask her skills, play down her expertise, but too many have heard rumors of her. Marci can't hide from the truth forever.
Soon, she finds herself helping other soldiers dumped from Zedger. Recent "disposals" have lost their minds to the Genesis program Astrals use to control their creations. Marci must deep dive the soldiers' cerebral enhancements to figure out why and salvage everyone she can.
What she discovers when searching Genesis streams alerts Astrals to her position. Lead rain soon falls from the sky in the form of BloodTitans.
Can Marci save the soldiers and her people? Or is this the Tellurians’ last stand?
Strife enjoys crafting science fiction novels in various subgenres including space opera, cyberpunk, and fantasy. Sometimes she writes about aliens and colonization, other times she sticks to genetic engineering, the supernatural, and corrupt futuristic societies. Strife’s Sci-Fi is often crude and graphic, features strong women, and typically includes people who like to blow s--- up.
E. L. isn’t always in front of her laptop. She enjoys taking the four-wheelers to the coast with her husband and doing donuts in the sand. Strife most enjoys camping in the mountains and soaking in hot springs in the snow, but you're most likely to find her in the gym.
Strife craves learning new things like that crazy stuff called astrophysics and how to work on her 1981 Corvette and her Jeep. She hopes, someday, to add to her list of apocalyptic survival skills by learning to weld.
E. L. has traveled the US and Europe, served in the military, and completed two Bachelor's Degrees in Public Health and Human Sciences. She's toured lava tubes, the NASA center in Houston, castles, concentration camps, the Shelby center in Las Vegas, and many natural wonders. She's even learned to race BMWs at the track in southern California.

Marci, the cybernetic super-soldier, is back in another post-apocalyptic adventure. I had the privilege of reading this as an ARC (advanced reader copy). I’d already read Zedger, the first cyberpunk novel in the series about Marci, and loved it so much that I started reading this one as soon as Strife made it available. It’s a different adventure than in Zedger, but set in the same unique world with many of the same compelling characters. It's a well-written novel that draws you in and keeps you there. And there's never a dull moment.
Reclamation: Mind Jack is a perfect Sci-fi read for those who love underdog characters, strong women leads and lots of geeky technology. Add in inter-planetary wars, fought faster than you can blink, and you have a rip-roaring space novel designed to raise your blood pressure.
I enjoyed the threads of philosophy and morality that were built into the technology. I felt it made the lead characters feel more "human", although they were far away from Earth. I'm looking forward to reading a novel length book from E. L. Strife.
For a first time sci-fi novelist this one has my vote. This one has it all. Strong characters abound on both sides as the war commences. There is plenty of drama throughout as Marci progresses through her various challenges. How this is going to move forward remains a mystery, but at least Marci has been given her orders to save her people and head the troops. Something she is initially reluctant to accept responsibility for. However due to her unique skill set she comes to realise she must at least try.
A fast paced action adventure. The main character, Marci, is an augmented Tellurian who has escaped from the Astrals. Suffering from PTSD she tries to heal others who have been scraped by the Astrals who have been implanting devices to make them better soldiers and essentially slaves to do their bidding. This is a prequel novel but can be enjoyed as a stand alone work.
Action packed, with a world as rich as they come, this prequel will leave you wanting more.
There are so many intricacies about the world that’s on display here. It’s impressive that such a layered and complex system can be squeezed into such a tight narrative. Piecing the world together is part of the fun. But the biggest strength of this book is Marci.
Science fiction needs more heroines like Marci. She’s a great character, and her journey through this story shapes her into the woman we meet in Zedger. She’s on a mission to the city of EsoTerra to retrieve parts so she can save a friend. But once she reaches the city, she finds war coming her way — a war for the city, and a battle within herself.
The scope of the story is huge, and the climax is thrilling — as big as they come. If you’re a fan of military sci-fi, character driven stories, or cyberpunk action, this won’t disappoint. It’s a satisfying introduction to a promising series, and a worthy prequel to Zedger.
Our heroine is a discarded soldier who is trying to regain her own life and help other soldier do the same. But the powers that be don't like it when their discarded toys develop minds of their own.
This is a prequel to the series, so a fine place to start. It is also of novella length, which is rather longer than most prequels I have read. The result is that you get a really good taste of what the series will be like and I really loved it. This is a great of science fiction and intrigue with a military background. Both the characters and the setting are really well done and help to bring the story to life. I loved learning about both our heroine and the setting and really look forward to more of both. What can I say? I am hooked.
Highly recommended.
