Laughers 3: Rough Landings: A Dystopian Apocalyptic Horror Novel

Rate this book
The end of the world arrived at the same time that a massive blizzard hit the city of Colorado Springs. During the storm, people began losing their minds. These people instantly became giddy killers who laughed while they murdered. Every fiendish assault on normal people was hilarious, every death a cause for hysterics.
No one was safe from them. They hunted the young and old alike.
Joined by an old man and a teenage girl, Reggie must track his psychotic brother through the end of humanity and the raging storm. His brother, Mike, has kidnapped the woman he has only begun to love. Sheena reminds him of a woman he loved long before, who Mike murdered.
He is determined not to lose another relationship to his brother, but to save Sheena, he must overcome the great adversity presented by those who cannot control their hysterical madness. The laughers are around every corner, in every shadow, waiting.
What Reggie doesn’t know is that the laughers are only the beginning of his problems, for someone is coming. A mysterious stranger arrives to warn them. He tells them of a dark force. It has been growing and spreading, in search of those who have escaped the laugher’s disease.

While Reggie and his new friends hunt Mike and try to save Sheena, an unstoppable force of evil is on its way to Colorado, and it has them in its sights.

This series of books just gets better and better. Some of the old favourites are back, still wandering around, overcoming obstacles and doing their best to survive. Avoiding or killing the laughers either brings out the best or the worst in people. Families are destroyed and torn apart, new friendships are forged, survivors become resilient. Alcohol becomes necessary for survival. Religion becomes an evil hoax; a tool that Mike, a diabolical priest uses as a means to control and manipulate others for his own purposes. This book is just as breathtaking as the previous two in the laughers series. And then some. The ending hints at much worse things to come. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next instalment of laughers that are no laughing matter.

This keeps getting better!

This is the 3rd book in this series. These books, to be thoroughly enjoyed, must be read in order as they continue a story.

The premise without spoilers: In Colorado Springs, for some mysterious reason, certain people begin to laugh for no reason. By itself, it's not really a big deal. However, accompanying this behavior is that they enjoy killing while they laugh. Meanwhile, regular folk need to get away from these people or else they become their victims.
The real scary part? It seems to be viral, so one could start out normal and then end up laughing.

Great Series as well as different as far as apocalypse plots go.
Highly recommend!

Great

This is a scary book. The creatures aren't the undead they are much worse. This is a very different kind of apocalypse but it is no less terrifying than any other. I am looking forward to reading more.

Apocalypse story with a difference.

It's unclear the cause but most people go crazy - killing, assaulting but strangely laughing. The only ones that are still sane are those with alcohol in their systems.

It's an unusual look at the end of society. Good read

Interesting view of the apocalypse

Murderous insanity has taken most of humanity, but a few are left. Some are very good, and the rest are the worst. People trying to survive the mad folks, and each other. The adventure continues.

This was so great. The good guys are getting stronger, but so are the bad guys. Who will win in the end?
