Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!
I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.
In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.
Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.
Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)
Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)
I received a review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion. This is one more intense thriller. It starts out as a normal, easy police procedural, and then it shifts into high gear and doesn't let go until the final page! I can't stress enough the intensity of the emotional roller coaster this story invokes. It is one of those books that, once you get started on it, there's no way you will willingly put it down. I was up way too late reading when I should have been in bed. This book shows Scott Baker, our main character in a terrific light. Not only is he a great detective, but the story proves that he is a good man. He has the loyalty and commitment of not just his team, but of the higher-ups and the rank and file. That's not easy to do even for a fictional detective. Once again Scott's team worked like a well-oiled machine, even with their leader not functioning at peak capacity. All the investigative details felt exactly right. These characters are beginning to feel like people I know after reading several books from this series. They are realistic and not over-blown. You won't find any superheroes here and that's a good thing. The dialogue is natural sounding, even with British terminology thrown in. (I will admit to having to use my Kindle dictionary a couple of times.) There is enough detail in the plot, setting, actions, and "inner voice" to make for a smooth, full story without overloading the reader with extraneous details that only bog down the flow. I highly recommend this series and I can't wait to see what's next.
I'm not keen on water but I ripped the plaster off and plunged right in - I was not disappointed! You would have thought I was under water, with the amount of times I held my breath, whilst reading this book - rollercoaster ride! An awful episode in Scott's life that might have tipped him over the edge, if not for his superb team.
Great characters and story, it had me on the edge of my seat! Best in series, up to now - let's see you top this one Jay... (Challenge accepted, I hear you say). Keep them coming!
I received an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is extremely close to being the best book I've ever read!!! If not the best! Once I started reading, I couldn't put my kindle down for more than 10 minutes at a time! Can you imagine being ask to pick one out of two people you love. One that lives, one that dies? Can you imagine the weight on your shoulders if that happened? I know I can't , buy Jay Nadal could imagine it for Scott Baker. And he did a bang up job of it! But what's next? It appears only the author knows!
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This book was a true thriller. It had me wondering who the culprit was, and it was a real page turner from the first few moments of reading. I highly recommend this book to other thriller and police procedurals. I received this book as an ARC, and the above opinion is strictly my own.
