Tyler Madden is a mystery, a sentinel passing through town and sticking to the shadows.
He’s unforgettable to those who want to know him, but he prefers the darkness, and regularly seeks anonymity.
It’s how he keeps his younger siblings safe and off the radar of those who may come looking. Kaia and Louie are not his by law. He stole them the moment they left the womb, which means if they’re discovered by the wrong people, everything they’ve worked so hard for will come undone.
Arlo Reynolds is loud and goofy. She knows every resident in town, inserts herself in everyone’s business, and isn’t fearful of being the center of attention.
But since Tyler refuses to step outside his carefully constructed four walls and join her in the real world of lust, laughter, and a sizzling affair, she drags him out against his will.
He deserves happiness and a woman who makes his blood run hot, but could a single night with her be the reason everything is destroyed?
Join us on one last Gilded Knights adventure in this action-packed, lust-filled, sass-mouthed, tear jerker.

I love Emilia’s writing. I love the flow of the book. I love Arlo’s personality and I love the gist of the book. I only gave 3 stars though because I just can’t get over some of the things. Arlo can’t take “no” for an answer. If the roles were reversed and Arlo was the man it would be unacceptable. The way it’s written with the kids and Tyler getting thrown in jail… if everyone knows where the kids are (the way things work in Roller Town) not one person would have let that 8yr old and 5yr old in a house while Tyler was held in jail overnight. I feel like it was just forced out without thought to the true dynamics of the book and rushed. I’m sorry Emilia for the crummy review :( I love so much of your work but this wasn’t one of them.
There is a reason that this author is one of my favorites. This book is an example of why. She creates a world that feels real with characters that feel like my real-life friends. I laugh at their jokes and I cry and hurt when they do.
Arlo was a hoot for a leading female character. I loved her confidence. Tyler, that sweet sweet ma. The sacrifices he has made for his siblings were so beautiful and came from such a pure place.
I wasn't expecting the twist at the end, but I'm glad it happened that way. I highly recommend this author and anything she writes. Its bittersweet to see these characters move on.
I'm looking forward to whatever this author writes next. I'm sure it will be amazing.
4.5 stars. Lots of feels, lots of love, some action, angst, cute kids, and many ongoing characters. It can be read as a standalone, but so many couples from previous books appear, that I'd recommend reading the books in publication order. Thus avoiding possible spoilers. 😍🔥💝
Well that as quite the conclusion to a town and series of characters that we have all grown to love over the past few years. These books and characters are amazing. The world Finn has created is one you just can't wait to get back to and see what else is going on.
I love how she melded the town together in this last book but still managed to make it their own story. Never underestimate a woman on a mission to do good and help others. Arlo steps up to the challenge to find love and help a family with their happy ending. She is determined to provide help in a way that Tyler does not see her generosity as charity.
All the while Tyler is just trying to survive the best that he can and do what his mother did not do and raise his siblings with the resources he had been provided. The struggles are real for this family and he manages to keep it all together. While Arlo stands by him the entire time.
All the feelings come into play with this last book in the series. I love how old familiar characters made an appearance while we found new ones to love on forever. It's fun to see how the previous characters change over time and how their families grow, and what that looks like to an "outsider." I know I will miss "Roller Town," but can't wait to see what is next.
I always felt like Abby and Spence got the short end of the stick on their story. Like it was just tossed out there and left with unfinished business. So I really enjoyed seeing them progress in this last set of books and how their devotion for each other continues and how their happy ending keeps on giving back.
I don’t know how she keeps doing it or how she keeps this world turning but she does….Emilia Finn is a creative genius. Let me say this….I found myself struggling to read this as quickly as I have others, not because it is not good but because I knew it was going to be AMAZING! …Why?..Because I know Emilia wanted this one to be the perfect “end” and I selfishly do not want it to “end”. This town has been my life life for the past year and a half! So let me say this….If you have not started Finding Home w/ Bobby and Kit and made your way to the “end” of Safe Haven with Arlo and Tyler….your life is sorely lacking. This book, the force of Arlo and the strength of Tyler, is so beautiful. Watching the love for a lost family, that really wasn’t lost, be such a huge part of this community! Watching the protection they had when they didn’t even realize it and watching the love of Arlo and Tyler grow into this beautiful family with precious children who needed the roots Arlo so sneakily provided….just freaking icing on the cake. All sorts of heartbreak and love in this final book from what we have all deemed “Roller Town”!
PS. My prayer is that the next series…these characters who have spoken to Emilia for years, will keep talking. They love us and they love Emilia, so no way will they be quiet. It can not possibly happen. Too many big personalities!
Anyway, read this book…you will not regret it and if you will start from the beginning you will find a new world of “all the things”. It is one hell of a ride!
37 books in total, 100s of thousands of words and I am so thankful to have spent my last two years reading all of these books. These books have been more than books to me. They have been a talking point for my best friend and I. They have been gossip to other readers who just might enjoy a little adventure. They have added "spice" to my relationship. Through these books I have lived through 37 lives. I have laughed, cried, oooed and ahhed over these characters lives. I have wished for the death of the bad guys and cheered on the rebellious heroes. I have partied with girls, got in the ring with men, rode in squad cars, stood in a photo studio, rode a skateboard, stuck it to the man and aided in the theft of the ice cream statue, danced like a ballerina, chased down the thugs, loved all the men and laughed with all the women, all without leaving the comfort of these books. We knew this day was coming, and as I write this with tears in my eyes I am happy that we are able to move on with love in our hearts, adventures in our memories and a SOLID recommendation for chapter 8.
For everyone who is just starting, just seeing or just wondering if this book is worth it, my answer would be no. This AUTHOR is worth it. Her works, all of them have been such a thrill to read that I'll forever recommend Bobby and Kit to whomever I cross paths with. Start at the beginning, grow with this family, and know you'll always be welcome at Emilia's table.
I’ve loved Emilia’s writing since the very first time I stumbled across this amazingly crafted little universe of hers, but something about this story stood out to me as extra special. I can’t put my finger on it, but before I even finished the first chapter, I already had the thought, “I’m pretty sure this one is gonna end up being a Top 5 Favorite for me.” And sure enough, that’s how I ended up here, writing my first ever Goodreads/Amazon review because it’s the very least I could think to do to show my support and genuine appreciation for all the ways this wonderful author has enriched my life just by sharing these stories with the world. I will never cease to be amazed by how skillfully she manages to keep adding new layers of stories & characters into the already established world of personalities & families we know and love without ever feeling stale or repetitive. You also won’t have to spend nearly as much time in that weird mourning period that sometimes comes at the end of a story where you really fell in love with the characters because you already know you’ll get another glimpse of them living out their happily-ever-afters as a part of someone else’s story. I CAN’T WAIT to dive into whatever she has planned for us in this next series.
I have NEVER written a review because I don’t feel I have the words to adequately describe a book and do it justice BUT Emilia Finn is an AMAZING author!!! All the books starting with the Rolling on Series till now are connected and is what I absolutely love about her. She makes the characters and town feel real. She will always be on my automatic buy as soon as I see she has a new book coming out. I go back to her books when I need a pick me up and stress relief. Hopefully the rest of the second gen roller kids will have series and then the kids of the Survivor Series and well I just hope she keeps the whole town growing and going and I can’t wait for the new series Sinful Justice. Love Arlo and Tyler and can’t wait to see if Kaia gets her own book because she’s amazing.
I love Emilia Finn’s books and this one was no exception. If you are not familiar with her works, you should grab this and dive in. Or better yet, go back to the beginning of this series or the beginning of her books, as the characters pop up in other books throughout the Rollin On, Checkmate, Stacked Deck, and Gilded Knights series. It can be read as a standalone, but there are so many things that are enhanced by knowing the history and players in the game.
In Safe Haven we learn the identity of the squatter and the reasons behind it. We see a slightly different side of Arlo than in previous books. She is a plotter who could give Soph a run for her money! She and Tyler are a good fit and compliment each other. These characters are amazing and so we’ll written they feel like family.
I love Emilia Finn and the Roller/Survivor/Checkmate world so much. I was thrilled to see characters from each series! Jon and Bobby, Meg and Marc, Jess and Kane, Soph and Jay, Abby and Spence. Sarah is mentioned. The Rosas of course. The sass and love from these people is comforting.
I’m not thrilled with a lot about this book….like her last few, the ending seemed rushed. Arlo and Ty’s love seemed rushed and I never really connected with them like I have other couples. The murder/prison ordeal seemed like a stretch, especially Jared being in the same cell. I don’t know why the family was around for so long before anyone helped them. There is no way Soph didn’t think to check the local cameras! Just wierd stuff that make me not fall in love with this book. But I will always love Finn and the world she created.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have never been disappointed reading Emilia Finn books, and this one proved no different! We finally find out more about the mysterious squatter from previous books, and holy smokes, what an amazing presentation of what so many people face daily in reality. My heart ached and my eyes teared up from the magnitude of Tyler’s situation, the hopelessness he endured, and definitely from the overwhelming need to protect his family. Arlo was a firecracker dropped into a can of gasoline that was going to create havoc no matter who got in the way. I loved the close up and personal view of Tyler and his siblings, and the extension of Arlo’s family that included the Rosa siblings. As always the books about Rollertown feel like checking in with family. Love Emilia Finn and the world she created.
Good story but I hate the ending. I’m so glad Arlo got her own story. And I really wanted to know more about Tyler. I love all books connected to the Checkmate guys.
I don’t usually give spoilers in a review but I hate the ending of this series. Oh I love Tyler and Arlo’s ending. But I do feel the ending of this one and a few others were a bit rushed.
The part I really didn’t like was what happened to Jared. And the prologue with Abby. I’m glad she got a baby but I just don’t agree with the way it happened. Yes that’s me personally. If someone lost the father of their baby and they really loved him they’d never give their baby up. They’d fight to give the baby everything. She was the last part of Jared. You don’t let that go.
I really love getting to camp out in a world with the same characters for a long time. Roller town might be my favorite fictional town ever! Tyler and Arlo are so great. I loved finally getting to know their story after so many years popping up in other stories. While I love these characters and this story, especially the foster care side of everything (this is my chosen career). There are pieces that were hard to read and get on board with. Arlo is so pushy, which ultimately I think ends up being for the best but it is almost like she doesn't give Tyler a chance to get on board. She just comes in and starts making decisions that are really not her place to make. Again, the end result is the best case with the kids being in school and stability, it is hard to read her forcing this all on Tyler and the kids.
At the end of the day, I liked the book, the town and the wrap up!
This was another fantastic, hilarious, intense, and crazy story, and that definitely describes one of the characters in this book. Lol! It was a great ending for this series. However, I'm really sad to see it end. I've read all of the books, beginning with the Rollin On series, and continued throughout the different series. Even though they're separate series, these 4 are all connected by the huge character crossover. It may seem like a lot of books, which it is, but I guarantee that once you begin reading, you won't be able to stop until the very end. They're all absolutely fantastic stories, and I truly wish that there were many more stories! I'm definitely going to miss all of these characters. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
If I could give this one more the 5 stars I would, but I can't so ill just leave an amazing review with the 5 stars! Emilia Finn you have written amazing stories. With each one over lapping the next. We see each character making appearances in most of the stories that makes us all fall in love with them over and over again. This story brought all of them together to celebrate family for Tyler and Arlo, Kai and lou. You made us cry and laugh. I'm sad to see this come to an end but I'm so excited for the next adventure you have created for us to read. Please keep them coming. I live being able to escape in your stories and fall in love with characters that make us swoon hard. Thank you for giving us somewhere to escape to when life because carzy .
It takes a free spirit to show a hardened cynic to learn to believe and have hope. Tyler’s life has been anything but easy. Arlo is the big flirt who’s personality and spirit is the epitome of hope and never giving up on believing everything WILL work out. They’ve watched each other and stared even when they shouldn’t have, wanting and lusting from afar… just when things are coming together, they’re tested in ways where they’ve never been tested before… Emilia Finn you are a true master of the universe!!!! “Stranger danger & they’re giving away ice cream!”… Laughter through tears is the best medicine. Thank you for your amazingness and letting us live in your world!! Another amazing series!!!
What can I say... Emilia has done it again. Given me a story to sink my teeth into, while simultaneously allowing me glimpses into the lives and day to day happenings of my favorite literary characters. I'm thrilled to see that all of my favorites received their happy endings, and that fresh faces received a new beginning to theirs. Tyler and Arlo are my favorite couple of the series. It's always thrilling to see two characters who had to fight for their love and survival get the meaningful life they strove for. What a wonderful conclusion to this series. Hopefully these guys and guys will forget to use their inside voices, and start speaking to Emilia once again in the future.
The entire Gilded Knights series has been an absolute roller coaster of life, laughter and love! This was no different. Tyler has been dealt a very hard hand in life and Arlo blows his world apart when she marches in and pushes him to make different choices even if he refuses... she knows what's best. Arlo is sassy, funny and determined everything you could ever want for our little squatter.
I'll say no more other than you really don't want to miss out on this series the characters are amazing and the emotions are plentiful!
I always read Emilia Finns books. I always enjoy myself. But recently, her books have become insta-love stories which is frustrating as a reader. I enjoy the stories, I enjoy the plot, and I love the characters! But for a romance novel, there haven’t been many books recently where the love actually develops and you can see the love form.
Good book, entertaining, and interesting plot. I LOVED three characters in this book and the love here develops better than some of the previous books but it was still a little insta-lovey.
Ahhhh!!!! Why must all good things come to an end?
Emilia Finn, you have done it yet again! What an incredible story! I am, however, heartbroken that it's over. I would have loved to read about Soph reconnecting with her sister. I would have loved to have a little more of small stories on each couple and their kids you introduced us to. So, in case you ever get bored, I'd LOVE some novellas about everyone again. Sincerely, your biggest fan 😉 I have read and reread ALL of your books several times and they never get old! You have a true talent.
The squatter and the obnoxious, pushy nanny. I loved them both in previous stories. He was a mystery that needed to be solved. She was hilarious, pushy, demanding, and young. I love that we see Checkmate and their spouses, we see Rollers and Cops, and we see a couple Survivors who haven't shown up I'm a while. Abby is still the central Rosa, one of my favorite characters, and I love that we end this series with her involved in it. I can't wait to start a whole new series, but I am soooo sad to leave these characters (mostly) behind. Amazing
I read once.... If there’s not enough ups and downs, it can feel a little flat, but a good romance should bring you tears of sadness and then to tears of joy. That is exactly what this series does. You laugh, you shake you head while thinking seriously yet you may have tears while imagining someone could possibly struggle like these charactors. Absolutely love how this author brings her stories together! You can't help but have empathy for different life situations all to have joy in the end! Great read!
Tyler and Arlo were the beautiful ending of the Rosa brothers. I love that Emilia always gives us a glimpse into her previous characters but back to Arlo and Tyler. To his cautious lifestyle, she brought a tornado, a pretty organized one with an end goal! These two were funny and heartbreaking but their journey was one that glued you to the pages, like all of Emilia's books do.
Safe Haven was the 6th and final book in the Gilded Knights series by Emilia Finn. Tyler and Arlo’s story was an epic ride, full of love, laughter, heart wrenching emotion, tears, the awesome characters we love, and the phenomenal plot twists that Emilia Finn is becoming known for. The world building for Rollertown across 5 series is second to none. While I’m sad this series is over, I’m super excited for the next one Ms. Finn has coming.
Beautiful story/ies of love and loss. So many angles and all our favorite characters are in the mix. Moms left, found, lost, and found again. And, always the handsome leading man that we all want for our own. Family and friends are strong with this one....... another great Finn Win!
Safe Haven was an amazing book. I cried happy tears and sad tears. Reading about Tyler reminded me so much of Jon. I'm so happy that he finally got to be happy. I think Arlo is my new favorite leading lady. She is hilarious with a big heart. Thank you again Emilia Finn for giving us such an amazing story.
I loved this book! Arlo is so awesome! She's crazy, fun, protective. and loving. Tyler is protective, grumpy, selfless, and so sweet. They are a match made in heaven. I was cracking up through this whole book. I couldn't put it down. What a great ending to the series.
Arlo is the girl that gets shit done. Tyler wants to stay in the shadows. What happens when Arlo won’t take no for an answer?? You get taken on an emotional roller coaster. All the while we get visits from our favorite cast of characters who once again remind us why we love them!! This is the perfect way to wrap up a series. LOVE!!
I swear, each book Emilia writes is a new favorite. Tyler reminded me so much of Jon and the OGs will always be special. But Tyler and Arlo were just perfect. And Abby, ugh. My heart broke for her. As a woman that deals with infertility, her story touches me more than most. And having her in this story just made it even more perfect.
What an emotional experience. I never thought that I would fall in love with so many people who are not even in my world. It just shows what an amazing writer Emelia Finn is. Tyler reminds me of a past friend. Thought he could never get it right until he did. I really loved this book. I hope you will have an update one day to tell us everything that we missed.
