The Thunderbird trilogy is a fast-paced time-traveling fantasy adventure centered on Noor, a young orphaned Palestinian girl who starts in the present and must go back in time to get four magical bird feathers and save the world. In this second installment, Noor finds herself in the year 1177 in Jerusalem, during the Crusades. With the help of Sabeeka, Zainab, a girl who has the power to become invisible, and her local resistance group, Noor must once again find a feather belonging to the thunderbird before it burns, in order to prevent the world of the djinn from collapsing into the human world. Along the way, Noor helps the resistance group save hundreds of books and manuscripts from being burned. Like the first book in the Thunderbird trilogy, Book Two combines the magical with real events from Palestinian history to take the reader on a wild and adventurous ride through time.
really gripping time travel back to Jerusalem of the Crusades, in which a brave girl must complete a mission to save the world from supernatural chaos, while at the same time helping the Arab resistance to the invaders save a library from being burned and humiliate the crusader overlord. A lovely mix of the magical and the historical.
An excellent sequel of the adventures of Noor through History in Jerusalem in her quest for the thunderbird feathers 🪶🪶fast pacing and action packed ! The history part is less present in order to introduce several endearing characters freedom fighters Hana, Khaled✌️ and magical funny sassy creatures 🐁🐁that do not want to be called mice. 😄 It brings an agreeable lightness to the urdles of poor Noor. I am looking forward to reading the final book of this trilogy mixed with folklore, tales and History of Middle East and Palestine ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars 👏
After Noor got the feather at the end of the first book, she gets sent to 1177 in Jerusalem during the Crusades. She makes new friends, one of whom is Zainab, a girl who can make herself invisible. She helps them save some books from being burned before finding the next bird. Sonia Nimr is a good writer and Lynx Qualey does an excellent job at translating this story. I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait to read more of Noor's adventures.
A lot better than the first one. The issues I had were mainly resolved and the story here had more parts to it. I loved the switching back and forth between the two plots it made it even more exciting to read. I need the next one now.
another wonderful MG fantasy adventure set in Palestine. lots of time-travel, Djinn cat, friendships with experiences of Palestine history. & culture. eagerly awaiting bk 3! highly recommend both 1 & 2
