Creo que quiero aplaudir de pie. Qué. Buen. Volumen.
Este manga tiene mejor desarrollo de personajes que más de un libro de 500 páginas. Me encanta la evolución de Yukari, y si bien está mechado con un poco de humor (me gusta que saben que están en un manga XD), la historia es cada vez más seria y los personajes son más complejos y más humanos que nunca.
Genial realmente, esta autora es bárbara. Y hasta ahora no dije nada sobre los dibujos, pero las "fotos" de Yukari al comienzo de cada capítulo me tienen fascinada.

Now THIS is where Paradise Kiss moves from being merely good to downright amazing. Some of the weaknesses of previous volumes are expunged as Yukari's character is fleshed out and her motivations for dropping out of school are revealed. What really blew my mind about this book, though, was the sex scene: it was handled PERFECTLY. Tender, honest, realistic, necessary for the plot and not tawdry in the slightest, this is probably one of the best-handled sex scenes I've ever read in a comic.

Myślę, że stało się najlepsze dla Yukari. George to śliski typ, jakoś nie wiem nawet, czy go lubię. Piękne kreacje<3 3.75 (jest dobre, ale nie może wskoczyć ciągle do kategorii "bardzo dobre")

Great volume. I liked how Yazawa dealt with motherhood, a subject that I wasn’t expecting to show here. The sex scenes were well executed, she’s very good at building sexual tension between the characters. I also enjoyed to, finally, see more of the fashion/modeling part influencing the narrative.
Regarding the characters, still waiting for Isabela to play a major role in the plot but, I liked how Arashi and Mikako’s relationship was portrayed(not sure about her name). As for Caroline and George, I didn’t realize until this volume how their relationship fits perfectly the late 90’s/ early 00’s rom-com dynamic. Which isn’t my favorite but, once I got ok with it, I became less bothered by them as a couple.

Manga recomendado: ‘’Paradise Kiss’’, de Ai Yazawa. Editorial Ivrea, 5 tomos. LGBT, moda, relaciones varias, juvenil…
Este manga me lo hizo descubrir mi hermano: una deuda pagada, porque yo le hice descubrir la saga de películas de Bourne…
Al principio no creí que me gustara, y todavía no entiendo el porqué… Su dibujo es precioso, adulto y estilizado. También es monísimo… Detallado y emocionante…
Y su historia, adornada entre telas de fantasía, brillante maquillaje, plumas y pasarelas, va de las presiones que tienen los estudiantes; las ilusiones varias como el amor, que puede presionar también, así como la presión que te puede provocar un vestido increíble, pero apretado ;) Va sobre crecer en muchos aspectos, darse cuenta de que tenemos derecho a equivocarnos y a aprender y corregir: como coser y poner botones… Va sobre oportunidades y sentimientos en verdad multicolor, como sus personajes.
Un taller de aprendizaje precioso ^^

Me esta atrapando este manga que lo flipas. Todos los personajes son súper carismáticos y el arte es increíble.
Pensaba que Yukari iba a acabar siendo sumisa y mantenida por George y me estaba empezando a molestar. Pero el giro que acaba pegando al final del tomo me ha gustado, ya que decide tomar las riendas de su propia vida y luchar por su sueño

Dios mío este tomo... Es que los mommy issues de Yukari, así como los de George y su miedo a destruirla y que Yukari acabe como su madre es que... Fascinante todo. Yukari y George son personajes que simplemente me fascinan.

Yukari’s modeling adventures continue as four days or so pass in this volume. She has a potential agency to join, but she needs her parents’ consent. Awkward, considering she just ran away from home.
But the center as always remains on the Gatsby-like and risqué romance between George and Yukari that never hesitates to make my blood boil. It’s very obvious Yukari is caught in a web of manipulation where the only way she can connect and show love is through sex (one of the best quotes of this volume), but she’s more aware of others (George’s mom) in a similar situation than her herself. Dramatic irony it may be, but it’s still frustrating.
Regardless, Yazawa’s unique art and soap opera style of storytelling are really making Paradise Kiss a more sophisticated read than other manga in this vein. It may make me annoyed, but it at least has depth and enough jabs at itself to make it entertaining and smartly cutting.
For a Teen manga, there were a lot of breasts drawn in here. Good thing the rating gets switched later on to an older audience.
Also, the translation finally mainstreamed to something not as slang-filled, God bless.

Además de la relación tóxica entre Yukari y George, también tenemos la otra entre Mikako y su novio (no recuerdo su nombre). Me parece menos tóxica porque el chico es bastante maduro, pero sigue habiendo una falta de confianza entre ellos y él le paga con el silencio solo porque ella sabía que él no se tomaría bien el echo de que su amigo de la infancia y antiguo crush hubiera hablado con ella.
No sé, creo que la autora refleja muy bien todas esas inseguridades que se tienen a los 17 años. Excepto por George, que es un tipo frío y despegado. En cierto modo lo entiendo, existe mucha gente con dificultades para expresar sentimientos, pero él no se da cuenta de lo mucho que confunde a su pareja con esa actitud. Y Yukari es demasiado niña para saber que en ciertos momentos hay que saber hablar las cosas.

This one finally redeemed itself from the second one and Yukari got a backbone in the end and stood up for herself. If the series keeps going in this upward direction, then I'll be happy. Also, glad to see that on the next two the maturity rating increases, as this is pretty racy for a 13 year old.

if yukari’s mom gives her permission to become a model, will she choose george, or follow her dream and finish high school? i keep thinking about what george said: “i thought yesterday, that if you felt sleeping with me was more important than becoming a model, then you were a stupid girl.” like… would he actually be proud if she left him for modeling? or just get cold and distant?
not gonna lie, yukari’s trying so hard. she’s stubborn and immature in a lot of ways, and that just makes everything worse. and more real.
george isn’t the dream boyfriend she thought he was. he’s cold. distant. and maybe that’s exactly why yukari needs to focus on herself and stop chasing some perfect version of love.
this manga is so confusing but i’m loving it so far 😭😭🥀
also, i LOVE the art style and the characters’ fashion. it says so much about their personalities without needing actual words.

i like the pacing and the development that happened in this volume. A small part of me is rooting for her to end up with george sometime later down the road when she’s less hm, dependent on him (?), and also when he becomes less of a jerk lol. but probably best if she doesn’t ha (i like tokumori as well). i just want to see her flourish in her career atp and find stability

Avis sur les 3 premiers tomes de la série ✨️
Paradise Kiss a su me séduire par de nombreux points et cela, dès le premier volume (qui est mon tome préféré à ce jour) ... Ai Yazawa nous plonge ici au cœur de sa passion initiale : la mode - en effet, la mangaka a suivi un cursus dans une école de mode et son œuvre voue un culte tout particulier aux créations de Vivienne Westwood - avec la protagoniste principale appelée "Caroline" qui se fait entraîner dans un projet de "défilé" par trois étudiants en école de mode. Les personnages se montrent terriblement attachants, drôles et, bien évidemment, puisqu'il est question d'un shojo, une intrigue amoureuse est installée avec Georges : un personnage bien mystérieux.
Certains évènements paraissent assez improbables et farfelus mais le tout reste très léger et agréable à lire.
Cependant, étant ici immergé dans le monde de la mode et donc du mannequinât, le lecteur doit être averti. En effet, certaines répliques des personnages sont à prendre avec des "pincettes" ou en tout cas, avec du recul (étant donné que l'œuvre date un peu et que ce genre de propos est juste aberrant en 2024) ... Je parle bien sûr ici des réflexions propres au monde du mannequinât sur l'apparence physique, sur les restrictions alimentaires et la maigreur attendue d'une mannequin.
Enfin, un aspect qui m'a charmé et que je voulais mentionner ici : c'est le fait que ce manga met en scène des personnes bi-sexuelles mais aussi une personnage transgenre, ce qui est assez avant-gardiste au début des années 2000, surtout au Japon.
Une très bonne découverte de manga, j'ai extrêmement hâte de découvrir les deux derniers tomes ! ☺️

Me encanta el progreso de personajes que hay. Está muy bien plasmada la dificultad de no perderte en una relación y de aprender a priorizarse a uno mismo y su futuro, así como también las relaciones con los padres y encontrar un punto medio para poder dialogar. Gran historia.
