Hiraeth is a difficult word to define. It is a sickness, a tug on the heart in the direction of home. It is nostalgia, a sense of yearning for a person who belongs in the past, a grief for something irretrievably lost. It is longing, the what-ifs, should-nots and could have beens. An ancient sadness rooted in your bones.
Discover how nine authors take the theme of Hiraeth and use it to weave tales of belonging, love and second chances in this incredible anthology, brought to you by Indie Love.
All proceeds from this anthology will be donated to a mental health charity.

Hiraeth: An Indie Love Anthology is a collection of short stories from eight authors all with the theme around Hiraeth. The following are reviews for the books I read from the anthology.
Review for Where Your Heart Is by Eve L. Mitchell, which is a small town romance novella. Mark’s out of luck when his brother's vintage car breaks down just outside a small Colorado town, and the options are to stay in town and wait or borrow/hire a car. Unfortunately, there’s only one option…to stay in town. Iris is the local guesthouse owner, and she most definitely doesn’t want a stranger that she’s instantly attracted to staying in her B&B - even if it’s just for a few days. There’s a balance between Mark and Iris that comes across well in the story, and ultimately there’s no denying the underlying and instant attraction they each have. Overall this was a sweet small town romance which will tug on your heart strings, with a few giggles thrown in to balance it out.
*Additional reviews to be added for the other books in the collection.
The great thing about an anthology is meeting a whole bunch of new authors. I got this anthology for the one author I did know and I just met a whole bunch of new-to-me authors that I will be looking up so I can enjoy their other books.
Each story was an interesting look into so many different writing styles. I thoroughly enjoyed each one. I'm not going to pick a favourite as each had their own situation that called to me. I felt so many different emotions reading these short stories that I know I ran the full gamut. There were a few tears, some angst mixed in and some anger at the unfortunate entanglements the characters found themselves in. I can't wait to find out if the authors take these short stories and make them into full length books.
Each story had a sense of coming home to the love of their life, a sense of completeness. Who wouldn't want that? A fulfilment of all your wishes and dreams come true is the perfect ending in every book you read.
This entire anthology I was happily impressed by the talent of all of these authors! This was a wide variety of stories with a little something for everyone, and a group of authors that I will be learning more about.
Eve L. Mitchell's Where Your Heart is is why I picked up this anthology, the story of finding yourself in a place you'd never thought you'd end up is spectacular! Mark and Iris stole my heart quickly and thoroughly.
So many other fabulous stories grace these pages. Each gave me a different perspective of the ways Hiraeth can be romanticized from a feeling to a whole story. I don't think I've enjoyed a collection of short stories so much in quite a long time!
Hiraeth: An Indie Love Anthology is a collection of short stories from eight authors all based on ‘Hiraeth’. The following is a review for Where Your Heart Is by Eve L. Mitchell
A small town romance novella sees Mark’s out of luck when his brothers car he’s driving back to Denver for him, breaks down outside a small Colorado town and he has no choice but to stay there until he can get the car fixed.
Iris is the local guesthouse owner, and has an instant attraction to Mark and with a bit of medaling from Janice - the local shop owner, see’s these two thrust together.
This was a sweet small town romance which gives ya a few laughs and that ‘feel good’ feeling.
Lovely set of stories put together by Indie Love Authors.
Review for Eve L Mitchell....Where Your Heart Is. I loved this beautifully written story, its a real heart warming story that made me giggle out loud with some of the characters antics especially Janice, she's hilarious but I also really enjoyed the way Mark wasn't portrayed as a typical alpha male but as a genuine gentle man with issues. Those issues which withheld him from enjoying life until he met Iris and found the perfect match to his soul. Perfect, brilliant and very thought provoking story
This is a sweet story about finding love in unexpected places when life throws you a curve ball. Even though this is a short story, Eve has a way of making you get invested in the characters and their stories. I also really related to both Mark and Iris for different reasons.
I really enjoyed this story and I wish it was longer so we could explore the relationship of Mark and Iris in more depth
Im reviewing Where your Heart Is by Eve L Mitchell
I loved this short story, the chemistry between Mark and Iris sparked from the beginning, they fell hard and fast and I love that in a book !!! This book had some great characters Janice the lady who runs the store has me laughing, the stuff she would come out with was hysterical, loved her !! Great short story and part of a great Anthology and all for an amazing cause !!
I love anthologies like this because I get introduced to new authors. I am in the process of reading all of them but o e I couldn’t help but read right away.
Eve L Mitchell’s story was the perfect story for me. It’s unlike her normal books that are centered around alphaholes instead this is about a sweet guy and girl who find love. This book does have the authors usual humor thrown in which I have grown to love. This story will definitely tug at your heart.
Reviewing Eve L Mitchell's story Where Your Heart Is.
A short and very sweet story that perfectly depicts the expression "The heart knows what the heart wants". Beautifully written Mark and Iris's story is what we all dream of for ourselves ...you'll love this story....and you'll fall in love with love.
Where Your Heart is by Eve L Mitchell Very nice short story. Quite untypical as well, which was great, we don’t need more stereotypes. They didn’t seem to be a match, but yet the fate (and in big part Janice as well 😂) did put them together. They needed each other. And however they had rocky start they will be perfect. Only regret here is, that this story is so short.
Brilliant antho! Loved these short stories. Perfect to take on my holidays! Review for Eve L Mitchell; Where your heart is Mark is having a little bit of bad luck. Breaking down in the middle of nowhere when he has places to go and people to see, but sometimes you need that complete stop to see what is right in front of your face… and for Mark it’s the incredible view Brilliant read
Read this for Where Your Heart Is by Eve L. Mitchell. Anthologies are so cool because you may initially read for one author, like I did, but then get to dip your toe into some of the works of other authors you may not be familiar with. Highly recommend.
