A rebellious young werewolf finds himself crossing the vampire king as the search for his family goes very wrong...
Will was hard enough to contain when he was only human. Now he must be kept on an even shorter leash. As his power grows he becomes harder to control. It will take every bit of Maddox’s mastery to keep him in line. And when he wants to find his real parents, secrets from the past threaten to be even more destructive than the murderous werewolf felon himself.
Can the newly crowned vampire king get his family under control? Or will Maddox’s werewolf pup tear New York City apart?
Royal Pains is the second in the Vampire Kings of New York series, best read in order.
Amazon Top 100, USA Today bestselling, and #1 bestselling author in multiple Amazon categories, Loki Renard writes sizzling hot, occasionally dark and twisted stories of dominance, submission and discipline.
It’s a Loki and a good one also a second in a series and therefore a perfect continuation and of course I don’t want to wait for the third part but have to. Maybe now I am able to learn never start a Loki series before all parts are out in the open. Probably I am not!
Although I'm not a fan of vampires, the combination of vampire and werewolf and the really interesting build up and dynamics of the relationship make a huge difference, bringing tension and tingles and helping that this time the main character vampire isn't a royal pain for once, which clouds the story for me. I love how the relationship develops so sensitively and gently and smoothly as the story progresses.
second book.. still like the progress .. the "funny " element was not there in this book.. more serious tone yet low drama.. the only part was the easy going way that the 3 guys end up in the old house living together.
Kind of feel bad for Will, he is the only one who's life has been going through a lot in those 2 books ..Maddox isn't living up to his age, he acts like an older man ok but not a very experience one .. he makes a lot of mistakes (or the norm in such stories is that someone like Mad would be the know it all and the one who saves the say.. it is different in this story , which makes it less paranormal and more beliveable ).. so far what i like is that it has a promise vibe of having happy ending for all My concernes are 1. Who bit Chauvelin (looks likes some Vamp might challenge Mad) 2. Will Lorien try to hurt Mad 3. Will Ivan be a relatively good father and try to do what is best for will ?
Ok now Maddox is the Vampire King of New York. We still have questions about Will and who his parents were or are. So much paperwork for Maddox. But things are never at rest in the home. Will and Lorien are up to something. They both have been going out a night and Maddox is not happy, well with Will anyway. We find out A LOT about Will. We also have secrets revealed. I have to say, I had a suspicion about the mother. His father, OMG is that dangerous. He is danger beyond. And we start going down a dark path. My concern for Will ramped up. He was so spoiled by Maddox but he never seems to realize it. You also learn more about Lorien. You have to love Maddox. He may be a vampire but he is so protective. But things are about to take a big change. Training and building forces are now. I can’t wait to read Pack Master.
This went a little deeper with all the characters, which I’m grateful for because they all have such great potential. I felt so many things reading this, all of them good. William learns more about his nature and his heritage, Maddox balances bureaucracy and discipline, and Lorien does whatever it is that he does. This is an enjoyable read that’s erotic, engaging, endearing, unpredictable, dark, witty, and well written.
This book was so very different from the first one. In the first book, it was more subdued. But book 2, man! From the very beginning it held my attention. It starts with a post coronation party. Soon it leads into Rebellion and then into how and what Maddox’s boy, Will, needs to do to survive. It’s quite the story. I give this a 5 star ⭐️ rating. There’s no doubt about that. This book is awesome 💜
I read the first book a while ago and waited impatiently for this one 😃. It's just as Awesome as I hoped it would be 😉. Vampire King and werewolf and so many other characters, make reading this series so much fun 😄. Thanks again Loki, your stories so totally Rock and I dearly LOVE them all 🤓.
What a wild an crazy ride this book was, not expecting all the twist an turns at every turn of the page. Not realizing these books were cliffhangers I’m gobbling up every word lol. Will is become his true form. Mads is realizing he’s going to have to be harder on his boy/beast, and Lorien is in cahoots with the enemy.
I very much liked volume 1. This volume began with a weak plot based on melodrama but I was cool with it. Until 46% DNF because the most ludicrous and outlandish "coincidence" became the driver for the rest of the story. Wow, my eyes are still rolling.
I liked the first one better, but I did enjoy the new characters. I think the development in Chauvlin was interesting. I hope Will can be controlled in the next one.
Now I have to finish the series. House of Vitale was the bomb but this yes I love the supernatural so it's perfect Will is becoming more and also can't wait to see what happens with Lorien glad he's not plotting but still he needs happiness hope he gets his own series.
I liked this book even more than the last. The story seemed to move along much faster and is charged with drama. Many things are coming to a head in this story and I’m interested to see where it goes in book three!
pretty good pretty good although I wanna see more between Will and his dad and I won’t be able to find out who his mother is and I also want lorain to find somebody. I feel so sad for him every single time I think we’re getting somewhere with Lorian Something Happens.
