The man fucked up, vanished for years and never contacted her because he wanted to be “someone “ in the city, comes back just because he lost everything and then just because he saw her, he wants her back?!?! Then he fucks up AGAIN, tries to make it up and she takes him back?!?! She acted like he was a whole new person after he did the bare minimum for ruining her chance. I simply hated how he abandoned her and just came back when he was in a bad situation.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
The small town of Storybook is all that Louisa has ever know and she loves working at the towns library, she had hopes once upon a time that she would be with her first love Noah and be a well-known author but after he left her behind when they were teenagers she had given up on love but her writing career was very much something that she was pursuing. But when there is an unexpected death and Noah returns to town would she be willing to let Noah back in to her life or would she be better steering clear of the heartbreak she knows he brings and just when she is about to get one dream does she lose the other?
Noah had left the town of Storybook behind to pursue his dream, leaving the only thing that had ever mattered to him and the only person he had ever loved Louisa, but he wasn’t enough for her then and he had never meant to stay away but now he is back in town after losing everything and having a dispute with his business partner. He never imagined that Louisa would still be in town nor working where he had temporary employment but one look and he knows that he should have never left her and he will do whatever it takes to get her back. Will he be able to break down the walls that she has built around her heart or has he lost more than just his business?
Noah was not exactly a wonderful likable character you can’t help but dislike him when you hear his reasons for leaving Louisa all those years ago and I wish she hadn’t of let him back in to her life as easily as she did but a first and true love is always different. I did enjoy their story and in the town of storybook there was no way they couldn’t have a Happy Ever After. 4*
Noah Brunswick abruptly left his hometown of Storybook and his high school sweetheart six years ago. The way he left broke Louisa’s heart, especially when he didn’t come back as she had expected he would. (He had simply assumed that she didn’t believe in second chances, so he didn’t bother coming back.) Now when things have gone wrong for him, his current employer, the Pink Collar Temp Agency, has sent him back to his hometown to temporarily work in the Archives Library.
To Noah’s surprise, Louisa Kimby is also working there. Will he try to make her see that he might be ready to settle down here and would like a second chance with her? Can she forgive him for his abrupt departure and lack of contact? Will she give him that second chance at love now?
The story line says Noah never intended to come back home. So his seeing Louisa and making a move to get her back didn’t ring true to me. Was it just seeing the opportunity? Because it doesn’t look like he gave it much thought. He also grumbled about his temp job being monotonous and boring, not like his old life in the city. Well why didn’t he just go back there and save everyone some grief? Not liking Noah’s attitude, I didn’t like him and could not cheer for his getting back with Louisa. He seems like a very selfish person.
The story for me was okay. If I'm going to be honest it's not a story I would want to go back and reread. I really felt as if there wasn't much character development...which would be fine for me had there actually be a story I could enjoy to make up for that. The relationship between Noah and Louisa just didn't feel genuine to me. Louisa apparently can't move on from her first love (Noah) even though he up and left her without even a goodbye. She was a bit too much of a doormat for me. When Noah messes up the second time honestly it did so little to make it up and to make up leaving the first time and she just takes him back. Noah's excuse to leave and go to the city to try and make something of himself was lame...let's be honest it was lame. Then for him to mention how he always had intentions of coming back to Louisa...yet we (the readers) are told that Noah had no intentions of going back to him small hometown. It's all a bit jumbled and makes no sense at times. .

A short and steamy story about second chances, making mistakes, and putting pride aside to make it up to the person you love. Noah left home six years to make something of himself and to try and feel like he was worthy of Louisa’s love. Instead he broke her heart. Now he’s back and temping at her beloved library. He’d give anything for a second chance but since he still doesn’t feel worthy he’s bound to make mistakes. Hopefully he’s changed enough to admit when he’s wrong and fix things for the only woman he’s ever loved. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Elsie James joins the charming Pink Collar Temp Agency multi-author series with the sweet and sexy second chance romance, Checking Out the Librarian. As soon as Noah lays eyes on Louisa - years after leaving town and breaking her teenaged heart - he knows that he will do whatever it takes to get her back. Will the hopeful author Louisa let her guard down enough to give Noah a second chance, or is her heart forever closed to him?

Checking Out the Librarian is a second chance romance story where feelings still linger deep down for Noah and Louisa years later.
Noah returns to the small town he grew up in after things go bad with a former business partner and he takes a job at the local library where his ex happens to work.
The story held the promises of being a good story, but by 25% I was ready to DNF the story, but I forced my way through.
Yes, the story did pick up at one point, but then it kind of just fell flat again. I didn't really feel anything for the characters and truthfully I didn't care if they reunited or not even though you know it will happen in the end.
Noah left Louisa broken hearted after they graduated from school to go find adventure. He finds himself back in Storybook hoping to see Louisa and maybe get a second chance. Louisa is moving on with her life in many respects except for her love life. She’s written a book and now wants to get it published. When Noah shows up in town and working at the library, Louisa isn’t sure what to think. This was an ok book. I wasn’t a fan of Noah’s starting out but he finally got his act together and realized he had to do something to prove to Louisa he really did want her. Louisa was strong and independent. She always loved Noah but knew she couldn’t go through the heartbreak again. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars First things first; I like the cover of this book! Checking out the librarian is a novella in the ‘’pink collar temp agency’’ collection. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Noah and Louisa were high school/childhood sweethearts. When Noah left town, Louisa was heartbroken. Six years later and Noah is back in town. Will Louisa give Noah a second chance? The chemistry between Noah and Louisa is clear to see and I liked them together. I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
This book is a part of the Pink Collar Temp Agency series and focuses on Noah and Louisa. Noah and Louisa were high school sweethearts that had their whole lives mapped out together before Noah left for the city and eventually broke up with Louisa. Now he is back in his hometown for a temp job at the library and is not thrilled about it until Louisa walks in and he realizes that he has an opportunity to win back the only woman he has ever loved and has regretted leaving behind ever since he left. This was a great addition to the series!

I adore these characters. Blue collar real life issues. I want to move to Storybook and meet all these folks... they already feel like friends! Noah is back in his hometown while waiting to get some business issues. Taking a job with a temp agency is perfect, especially when he is sent to help at the library and he sees HER. Louisa loves working at the Archives Library...and then she sees HIM. He left his first love to make something of himself. She was heartbroken because all she needed was him as he was. Will these hearts have a second chance at love?.

Second Chance Romance After year of being away Noah is back in Storybook. He never thought he would return, but now he has no other options as he awaits his fate. The temp agency placed him at Archives Library which puts him back in touch with his old girlfriend. Louise is the only thing worth staying in Storybook for and she does not believe in second chances, so he needs to buckle down and prove he is worth it. This is a short sweet steamy read. I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for voluntarily writing an honest review.
The Pink Collar Temp Agency has sent Noah to the Archives Library in Storybook. A place Noah never expected to return to after all these years. Even more surprising is running into his first love, Louisa. He realizes this is his one chance to make things right with Louisa if only she would give him a second chance. Will Louisa give Noah a second chance? Take a quick trip to Storybook and hang out with Noah and Louisa to see what happens. This was a fun lunchtime escape with the residents of Storybook. Enjoyed reading the second chance at love between Noah and Louisa. Noah and Louisa met in school. He was placed with a foster family while growing up, she came from an affluent family but love knew no barriers. Until he left and never came back. She was broken hearted and he still felt not good enough. Read how their lives changed after seeing each other again. Feel the tension but hope for the best. You know they get there but still wonder. It's a good book. Written by Cindy :)
A sweet read about second chances and learning to trust again. Noah and Louisa dated for years. Noah leaves for the city with plans to return. Unfortunately, he does not return for years. He returns and gets a job at the library that Louisa has been working at. He doesn't expect to run into Louisa and doubts she wants to see him. Louisa was in love with Noah and believed they would be together forever. Now Noah must gain her trust back an Louisa must find a way to trust him again. This was a great story and I love how everything worked out for them. Wonderful HEA.
Cute, but the female character is unclear The story is good with reversals, but once we know the reasons for the separation, Noah's reasons for not coming back, I did not understand Louisa's behavior, who is angry with him, but hey…. In the end, there is a melodramatic side that is perhaps a little exaggerated. In short, I was a little disappointed for this story although I appreciate this author. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Noah and Lousia are a strange couple. They love each other but Lousia wont give him a second chance years later... People change especially years later when they were teenagers. I'm glad that Noah fixed the issue that he caused but I was also upset with Louisa for not introducing him as her possible Publisher. Just there were a few plot holes that I would have loved to see. Overall a good book and happy with the HEA.
Ok, Noah is kind of a narcissist jerk, not toxic per say but disrespectful and clueless about it 100 percent. The book is well written, grammar, flow, no wrong words, no having to re-read to figure out what's going on.. nothing cringey except his disregard and disrespect. His backstory is a bit of a mystery. What happen with his bar? Why is he back? No idea what that's about but otherwise story is OK. I just really didn't like him.
Noah is back in his home town after having issues with his business partner. He's assigned as a temp at the local library where he soon discovers also employs his ex, Louisa. They're both shocked once they see each other. Both soon realize they still have feelings for one another.
Louisa forgives Noah leaving her when he moved to the big city but now he swears he's with her to stay!
Seems Noah can’t get it right. Temping as a librarian (with no degree) and puts books carelessly away (my worst nightmare). But trying to fix things with Louisa is his hardest task yet. One he better pray he’s better at than his library gig. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Book was very well written however the characters didn’t fit together. It felt like the only reason they were together was to get a second chance yet nothing was resolved (not that we really know why they fell apart). No growth or character development for the “hero” and the heroine seemed reluctant to choose him.
I really wanted to like this book more. I love books with librarians as the main character but I just couldn’t completely connect with this one. I think mostly I just didn’t really like Noah from the beginning. Something was just a little stilted with his character. Other than that, it was a good storyline.
Awwwww I always love second chance romances!!!! I honestly understand where Noah was coming from and wanting to make something of himself but I think he could have had all the time with Louisa that he lost if he just would have communicated better with her!!!! So glad everything worked out in the end!!!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A hard won second chance story where Noah has to prove to Louisa that he is ready to stick around and be hers. The love between them was never in question.
I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy this one. There are too many gaps in the story and not enough character development for me to care what happened to them. It all felt so surface-y and basic. :)
Absolutely loved the newest book in the Pink Collar Temp Agency series. Love a second chance at love story and Noah and Louisa have that perfect ending to their beautiful story. Loving all the authors take on this fabulous series.
This book has interesting characters that have to work their way back from separation and find their lost love which they do. They are meant to be together and to find their happy ever after
