An unputdownable steamy read
Two Brilliant Lawyers
Instant Sparks
Vulnerable Hero
Hot, steamy schmexyness
Each time Alex Wolf publishes a new book I know that it's an instant read for me. ETHAN was, to put it simply, an addictive read that I could not put down. Ethan Walsh and Felicity Pratt, two successful lawyers at loggerheads from the moment they meet, slowly find that there is a spark, a chemistry between them that is undeniable.
"Something tells me she's not a woman who forgets shit - ever."
Ethan Walsh, a driven workaholic who, at the age of thirty-eight, owns a successful law firm. Ethan has never been one for close relationships except for the two that have been lifelong ones, his mother, and his best friend Owen. Then there is his fur baby Rex, a black Labrador who rules the roost. Felicity Pratt left her position at Cooper & Associates in Manhattan to return home to be nearer to her parents and her twin sister. She too is a workaholic, who has no time for socialising or relationships, her work life is everything to her. Even though Felicity is due to start working for Ethan, she is yet to meet him, an unexpected chance at a coffee shop sees animosity brewing and sparks flying between them. Two people who are about to have their worlds turned upside down for different reasons.
"If he wasn't a gentleman, he wouldn't be breathing right now."
Ethan's life begins to implode, and his vulnerability shows when he receives some devastating news. Instead of being the man that everyone gets along with, Ethan has become short tempered, rude and unbearable, and Felicity is the person he takes his frustrations out on. Felicity often bites at Ethan's barbs, which causes the animosity between them to increase, she just doesn't understand why he treats her the way he does. I loved that from their obvious dislike for one another, their attraction began to grow, and develop into something neither were expecting. But of course, Ethan has foot and mouth disease, and his miscommunication and inability to share his burden, leads to heartache and misunderstanding. I love that Felicity makes Ethan see what he could have in his life if only he would open his heart up to others, she has him doing things he normally wouldn't do. Will Ethan be able to keep the woman who has opened his eyes, or will his stubbornness force her away?
"I wasn't looking for her, and she just bulldozed her way in while I stood by helpless, watching it all happen like an eager puppy wagging his tail."
Alex Wolf excels in the enemies to lovers trope, and Ethan Walsh and Felicity Pratt fit the roles perfectly. The begin with animosity, move to flirtations, and finally end up with understanding and love. I loved Ethan and Felicity together, even when they were bickering. Their banter was superb, their chemistry was explosive, and their heat was hot like molten lava. Alex always has terrific secondary characters, and in ETHAN he gave us three, Ethan's mum who is just gorgeous, Owen - that man needs his own book, and Holland, Felicity's twin sister, that woman had no filter about anything, if she thought it, she said it.
If you love this trope, then I highly recommend reading ETHAN. I laughed, was frustrated, sighed, and was occasionally close to tears, with this amazing story. One thing I can say, Alex Wolf always meets and beats my expectations, and he definitely did with ETHAN.
