As wolves, Isobel, her kin, and a Highland slave are on the run from her Icelandic clan and now they must find a way to live in peace in Scotia without anyone discovering they are wolves or Vikings. Wearing traditional Icelandic clothes, sailing a Viking longboat, and speaking Gaelic with a Nordic accent, it won’t be easy.

Alasdair is the wolf pack leader of his Highland clan, in the middle of adding fortifications to his castle when he spies what he thinks is a small Viking longboat—which can mean raiders and a fight. But what he discovers is two adult wolf females, a nearly grown male, and a female and male bairn on their shores. He can’t imagine the family making the treacherous journey to his land all on their own, but he’s captivated by Isobel, the woman who led her people to what she hopes will be safety.

Not everyone in his pack welcomes having Vikings living among them though. And Isobel is a wild and unpredictable woman, which fascinates him all the more.

Wow! Great intro to a new facet of the Heart of the Wolves conglomeration!

I loved this story from beginning to end. Isobel is very protective of her family and the slave they had snuck out. Alistair is pack and clan leader when he spots their longboat. He is immediately intrigued by Isobel, but not all of his pack are as welcoming. I can't wait to see more from this prequel series. This is a shorter story, but packs in plenty of action and some twists and turns.

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and some slightly steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and kickass! I hope to see much more from this series and time period. Thank you, Terry Spear, for another wonderful new series. If you like historical shifter romances with action and some character development, then this is for you. Enjoy!

This is a short novella which introduces a new story line.
It is set in medieval Scotland.
Isobel and her 3 younger relatives plus a Highland woman who was a slave are on the run from their Clan in Iceland.
Their father, the Chieftain, was killed and they have noone else to turn to for help and shelter. So they take a dangerous trip across the sea to Scotland to try and find a safe place for them to live.
Oh, and they are shapeshifter wolves too, which means they have to find a clan that is a shapeshifter clan as well.
Alaisdar is the leader of a shapeshifter clan in the Highlands. He sees their boat, a small Viking Longboat but isn't sure about what he sees.
Meanwhile, Isobel have landed their boat and holed up in a cave near the shore until they scout out the situation on land.
Alaisdar welcomes them to the pack but not everyone wants them there. Vikings are not trusted in Scotland.
Great twist on the shapeshifter stories. Hope there are more in this series.

I enjoyed this story. Isobel wanted to protect her family members and took them to Scotia against the odds. She was a strong, intelligent, and kind woman. Love of family drove her to take chances. Alasdair was a fair clan chief, a good judge of character, and honest. The two families had something in common, their paranormal side. All the characters, main and secondary, were interesting and very supportive of their individual leaders, accepting of the bond/union to strength the clan.

This is my unsolicited review.

The first few pages are just a huge info dump, and I honestly couldn't read anymore. The premise sounded really nice, but couldn't focus on it at all.

Isobel, her cousins, and a Highland slave who are all wolves have gone on the run, escaping from a human Icelandic clan and going to Scotia. There they hope to live peacefully without anyone learning that they are Vikings...or wolves. But that may be a bit tricky since they're sailing a Viking longship, are wearing Icelandic clothes, and speak Gaelic with a Nordic accent. But they were in extreme danger at home too and are probably safer in Scotia.

Alisdair is the leader of his Highland wolf pack and they've been fighting Viking invaders for a while. He's on watch when he sees a small longship and is afraid it means more Viking raiders. But when he learns that this boat holds two women, a teen boy, and two young children he's shocked, especially when he discovers that they made the trip on their own. He's even more surprised to learn that they're wolves. As he learns more about Isobel who risked so much to find safety for her small clan, she intrigues him like no one else ever has.

This is the second edition of this book which more than doubled the length and it's absolutely fantastic! The book's well-written with well-developed, fascinating characters, and a fast-paced plot. I was completely drawn in and kept hooked from beginning to end. Terry pulls you into her world of shifters with strong, independent characters (both female and male) who work well together and she gives you a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Terry Spear is an amazing author and storyteller and this was unquestionably a captivating read. She makes you believe in soulmates and in shifters. This book is a historical paranormal romance with intrigue and suspense. I love Terry's books so much and this one's no exception. I highly recommend this book which is a fabulous start to the series which I sincerely hope continues for several books.

Original Review
Isobel, her family, and a Highland slave (all wolf shifters) they freed are fleeing their Icelandic home. They land in Scotland where they run into Alasdair who's a wolf shifter and the pack leader of his Highland clan. He welcomes them all into his pack. Isobel and Alasdair are drawn to each other.

This was an absolutely fantastic story and I sincerely hope that it's the first of many. This well-written book has wonderful characters and is one of those tales you'll want to savor. I was drawn into this engaging story from the beginning and kept hooked as I read it in one sitting. It's definitely romantic and there's some suspense with unexpected twists. I truly enjoyed reading this book and hope it's first in a long series. I can picture it going many places.
